Zhong Kui's Diary
Fatty handed me a cigarette, hesitated for a moment, then passed one to Tian Zhiyong. The three of us huddled together to light up, taking a puff without knowing what to say. Looking around, I noticed groups of Dolls chatting together. The scene was somewhat bizarre; hundreds of Dolls were behaving like real humans, laughing and talking.
In the distance, I could faintly hear the sounds of an argument. It seemed that a dispute had broken out among the Dolls, and it was quite intense. It might have been some lingering grievances from their previous gang affiliations. The voices grew louder, and at one point, one voice rose to a peak before there was a loud crash, as if a Doll had fallen to the ground.
Suddenly, I recalled what Lou Wei had said before I entered: if these Dolls were given a strong enough stimulus, their brains would crash. That fallen Doll in the distance must have experienced some kind of stimulation that caused it to malfunction.
With this thought in mind, I whispered, "Is there any way to get everyone here excited?"
The three of them shook their heads. It was no surprise; this request was too difficult. Everyone has different triggers for excitement—someone who likes power may not like money, someone who enjoys hot dogs may not like cucumbers, and someone who admires Edison Chen may not necessarily be interested in Camera. Everyone has their own preferences.
Fatty seemed to want to say something; he opened his mouth several times but couldn't get the words out. I couldn't help but scold him, "Hey, Fatty, what are you thinking? Just spit it out! Are you shy or something?"
"I can make everyone excited; all it takes is watching adult films," Fatty said with a silly grin.
Just as I was about to look down on him, I reconsidered. He wasn't wrong; regardless of gender or age, people tend to get excited when watching adult films. Moreover, we live in an era where everyone is into adult content—who would dare claim they've never watched it? It's like the college students at Star City University, who have turned watching adult films into a social activity:
"Is today your birthday? I've got hundreds of things on my USB drive for you. What? You think that's too little? You should know that these hundreds are all seeds!"
"Class monitor, I heard you're moving out? Here are some adult films for you!"
"Teacher, this disk is full of my heartfelt intentions; I hope you'll let me pass this exam."
…
With this in mind, I walked over to Gu Quan: "I want to watch my last adult film in my life; please approve!"
Gu Quan was taken aback for a moment before bursting into laughter: "Go ahead! Approved! Hahaha!"
It seemed that Gu Quan didn't understand the flaws of the Dolls, and instead stood by eagerly watching us set up our home theater.
During this procurement trip, my Spatial Bag was filled with all sorts of things: batteries, a Projector, and most importantly, a Disc recorded by Fatty. We moved the Projector next to a cliff; the stone wall was relatively flat, making it suitable for projection. After some adjustments, the words "FBI Warning" suddenly appeared on the stone wall.
After a while, images began to appear on the wall. The people chatting around turned their attention towards it. These Dolls were originally gang members and did not hide their preferences. Upon seeing it was an Adult Film, they gathered in front of the stone wall, watching with great interest.
"Can this work?" I quietly asked Fatty while looking at a man and woman in a scene on the wall.
"It should be fine. Island Films are different from Western Films; they don't start with action right away. They have a bit of storyline, which makes it easier for you to feel immersed," Fatty commented seriously. "Look at Master Cang's expression; it’s playful yet innocent, pure yet seductive. With her youthful face and ample bosom, tsk tsk, truly a once-in-a-millennium gem!"
Once-in-a-millennium again? Damn, I hate that phrase!
Before long, as the plot progressed, the action on the stone wall became more intense. However, the surrounding Dolls did not react much. I nudged Fatty: "It seems like it's not having much effect!"
Fatty mumbled a couple of sounds until I kicked him; he snapped back to reality: "It definitely has an effect! Anyone who isn't excited watching this film must have a problem."
"Look for yourself; these people are all acting like they're conducting academic research. They’re smiling but don’t seem very excited!" At this point, I suddenly slapped my forehead: "Damn it, I get it now!"
Fatty and his two companions looked at me in confusion.
"This group is all gangsters; they must watch this kind of stuff regularly. Without a specific environment, how could they possibly get excited?" I gestured to Fatty: "Let’s give them some Dance Beat!"
Fatty paused for a moment but quickly understood. He opened his Apple device and played a disco track. Instantly, vibrant beats echoed by the lakeside.
Gu Quan glanced at us from afar, smiled, and did not interfere.
I approached Zhao Ting: "Sister, there's no other way; you have to sacrifice yourself."
Zhao Ting and Tian Zhiyong looked at me in shock, not understanding my meaning.
"Go up front and dance a bit! Do I really need to explain this?"
In the Dancing Hall, the lead dancer is the most important part, and the three of us men cannot fulfill this role; only Zhao Ting can bring the atmosphere to life.
Zhao Ting nodded, walked to the stone wall, and began to twist and turn, occasionally pulling down her shoulder straps and blowing kisses. This girl is quite carefree; it seems that in the face of life and death, nothing is a problem.
Above us were Master Cang's action scenes, below was Zhao Ting's fiery dance, and with Fatty's phone occasionally playing the beat of Dance Beat, the atmosphere in the hall became lively. At this moment, it was clear who was professional; Fatty would occasionally howl in sync with the beat, and gradually more people started to join in with his howling.
Finally, someone let out a loud "ah" and fell to the ground. This must be what Lou Wei referred to as a brain crash. Once there was one, there came a second and a third. One by one, Dolls began to collapse on the floor. Before long, out of three hundred Dolls, only three remained standing: Gu Quan, Wang Chuan, and Autumn Red Flag. The three of them stared in shock at the fallen Dolls.
Why were these three not affected? Were they just avatars while their true selves were elsewhere? At this moment, I couldn't be bothered to think too much about it because with only these three in front of me, I felt no pressure.
"Fatty, you three throw all these Dolls into the water. Remember to cut them open and let some blood out before you throw them," I said as I tossed a knife to Fatty with a smile.
There was a reason for my instructions. The Monster Fish in this lake would be attracted by any scent of blood and would come to devour the flesh of these Dolls clean. Among these three hundred Dolls, those numbered six and above had no consciousness; once their bodies were destroyed, it was like a computer without its mainframe. Most importantly, these Golden Skeletons were very heavy; I didn't believe they could float back up from the water.
Gu Quan and his companions seemed still stunned by the changes. Upon hearing my words, they all let out strange cries and lunged at me. I laughed heartily as I met them head-on; our strengths were evenly matched.
At that moment in Kung Fu style, Fatty had already cut off a large piece of flesh from one Doll and tossed it into the water. Soon after, with a splash sound, two Monster Fish swam over from afar.
Seeing the Monster Fish approaching, Fatty signaled Tian Zhiyong to help him throw a Golden Puppet into the water. The two Monster Fish pounced on it; however, the skeleton was just too heavy and instantly dragged both fish down to the bottom.
Meanwhile, I was engaged in a fierce battle with Gu Quan and his companions...
Yes, even while fighting Gu Quan and his friends, I still had time to observe Fatty and the others because Gu Quan's group did not have martial arts skills like Zhou Yaodong; they were mostly just strong. With my Devouring Soul energy, their strength held no advantage over me.
The splashing sounds grew louder from afar as dozens more Monster Fish swam over. After Fatty and Tian Zhiyong shouted as they tossed about ten Golden Puppets into the water, they were left panting heavily. These were Golden Skeletons; each Doll weighed several hundred pounds.
At that moment, I was still locked in combat with Gu Quan's trio...
"Forklift! Forklift!" Fortunately, Zhao Ting remembered there was such a thing above. Fatty paused for a moment before signaling Tian Zhiyong as all three ran toward the elevator. Only when a certain weight was reached could the elevator be activated.
At this moment, I was engaged in a life-and-death struggle with Gu Quan and his two companions...
After a while, amidst the clattering sounds, Zhao Ting and the others descended with the forklift. The iron table and bench were crushed and tilted by the forklift. With the forklift, Fatty and the others sped up significantly. Zhao Ting drove while Fatty and Tian Zhiyong were responsible for moving the Dolls onto the forks at the front of the forklift. Then, the forklift pushed the Dolls into the lake. After half an hour, nearly three hundred Dolls were finally pushed into the water, and Fatty and Tian Zhiyong collapsed on the ground, exhausted and unable to move.
At this moment, I was still fighting desperately against Gu Quan and his two companions...
The surface of the lake was churning with waves. At this time, there were at least a thousand Monster Fish competing for the flesh of the Dolls. The water along the shore had turned dark red, and occasionally, Monster Fish would surface, spitting out golden bones from their mouths before diving back into the water.
To be honest, I never expected to solve the problem of these Dolls in such a way. Previously, using a shotgun—a powerful weapon—had no effect, but now using a piece of bait surprisingly yielded great results. Looking at the empty lakeside, what had just happened felt like a dream; if it weren't for Gu Quan and his companions fighting me right now, I would definitely think I was dreaming.
Damn it, I was still in a life-and-death struggle with Gu Quan and his two companions...
"Come over and lend a hand!" I shouted at Fatty.
"Lend a hand? Why don't you try moving three hundred of these heavy things?" Fatty replied weakly, looking like a large chunk of lard on a cutting board.
However, upon hearing me, Zhao Ting immediately rushed over and blocked Wang Chuan's attack. Seeing Zhao Ting engage with Wang Chuan, Tian Zhiyong struggled to move closer to them. He attempted to make several moves but lacked strength and could only stand anxiously by their side watching.
