Zhong Kui's Diary
After parting ways with Sima Sanguang, I returned to my room feeling gloomy and lay on the sofa smoking.
I had always felt quite good about myself.
In terms of combat power, ever since I absorbed the energy of Devouring Soul, even experts like Lou Wei were no match for me. The formidable demons I had encountered, such as Ghostly Zombie Old Man, Yazhi, and Ji Wuyuan, all had some connection with me.
If not demons, then Taoists would do. Nan Kong is the most famous Taoist today, Kong Xuan is my friend, Xiao Qingcheng is my girlfriend, and even the two avatars of Moon Attendant, Aijia Yu and An Ran, have respectively become Kong Xuan's and Fatty's girlfriend.
I could say that before going to Shacheng to fetch a bride, I was doing quite well.
But ever since going to Shacheng for the wedding, everything changed. In terms of combat power that I prided myself on, Tang Seng could easily crush me with one hand. My former friend Kong Xuan relentlessly pursued me without any sense of camaraderie. Most importantly, I had no news of Qingcheng or Guo'er; I couldn't reach Fatty or An Ran either. While on the run, I had managed to call Fatty a few times, but his phone was always off.
With a long sigh and a puff of smoke forming a large ring that gradually dissipated in the air, I felt somewhat disheartened.
Knock knock knock—there were three knocks at the door.
"Come in, the door's not locked!" I lazily called out.
After a moment's hesitation outside, someone slowly pushed the door open. To my surprise, it was Hua Wuqiu—the strange person I had met on the stone bridge before entering Dominion Villa.
Seeing him, I quickly sat up and greeted him with a smile: "Yo Xie! Isn't this Hua Wuqiu? I didn't expect you to be from the villa too! Come on in and have a seat."
Hua Wuqiu sat down expressionlessly. To be honest, he probably couldn't show much expression on his face anyway.
"Would you like something to drink? There's water and beer in the fridge," I greeted with a smile.
I wouldn't normally be this enthusiastic towards her, but after feeling quite down when I was alone earlier, Hua Wuqiu's sudden arrival made me instinctively mask my emotions, resulting in an exaggerated expression.
"Are you this warm to everyone?" Hua Wuqiu asked suddenly, after a moment of silence.
Hmm, this doesn't seem like Hua Wuqiu. Earlier at the stone bridge, he was completely fierce; well, not exactly fierce, more like a child throwing a tantrum.
Now, suddenly asking me this question so calmly surprised me. Sang Xin is similar, fluctuating between warmth and coldness. This Dominion Villa must be some kind of mental hospital.
Clearing my throat, I replied with a smile, "Every life deserves my respect, and likewise, every life deserves my warmth."
"Even your enemies? You would treat them warmly?" Hua Wuqiu asked again.
"Enemies? What enemies could I possibly have? Even if I did have enemies, I'd have dealt with them long ago!" I laughed heartily. "Just kidding! Actually, enemies are just a reflection of one's own heart. If you see someone as your enemy, then they are your enemy. Conversely, if you see them as your friend, then they are your friend."
I spoke from the heart; I actually wanted to share this insight with Kong Xuan.
Hua Wuqiu nodded while sitting on the sofa and suddenly said, "Can I lie down on your sofa for a bit?"
"Of course not!" I directly refused.
"Huh?"
"Sleeping on the sofa isn't proper hospitality. If you want to sleep, go sleep in my bed," I said with a smile.
Hua Wuqiu remained silent for several seconds before suddenly tearing something off her face, revealing an extraordinarily beautiful visage before me. To my surprise, she had been wearing a human skin mask, and even more unexpectedly, this Hua Wuqiu turned out to be an exceptionally pretty girl.
Before I could recover from my astonishment, Hua Wuqiu walked toward my bedroom. Just before entering, she turned around and asked, "I haven't had a good rest in a long time. Can you let me sleep peacefully?"
Oh, her voice had changed too, becoming incredibly melodious.
I nodded dumbly, "Sure, as long as I still have breath, I won't let anyone disturb your rest."
Hua Wuqiu smiled sweetly and walked straight in, tossing the blanket aside and falling asleep just like that.
After a while, I foolishly walked over to close the bedroom door and sat on the sofa, pondering. Could this be the trial period test that Tang Seng mentioned? If this is a test, what could she possibly be testing me on?
After thinking for a while without any clarity, I decided to turn on the TV and adjusted the volume to watch it with interest.
The television was showing a police action film where every bullet fired by the protagonist hit its target, while countless guns from the opponents failed to hit him. After watching for a bit and finding it dull, just as I was about to change the channel, there came a series of knocks at the door.
"Come in; the door isn't locked!" I said in surprise. Who could this be?
The door opened, and a young man walked in.
Judging by his age, he looked to be around seventeen or eighteen. He had a headband tied around his forehead, similar to the white band often worn by basketball superstar James. He was dressed in basketball attire with a large number on his chest. Additionally, he wore wrist guards, elbow pads, knee pads, and ankle supports—clearly indicating that he was an athlete.
"Who are you?" This question was supposed to come from me but unexpectedly came out of the athlete's mouth.
"Isn't it me who is supposed to be the owner of this house?" I replied in astonishment.
"Because I've never seen you before. Um... my name is Bi Fu Dao, and I'm here to find someone." The young man arrogantly lifted his chin at me and asked, "Have you seen a hideous monster come here?"
"No!" I denied it firmly. She's clearly a stunning beauty, so where would a hideous monster come from?
"You wouldn't be lying to me, would you?" Bi Fu Dao looked at me suspiciously.
"Believe it or not! If there's nothing else, remember to close the door when you leave," I said with a smile, pointing at the door.
"Alright then." Bi Fu Dao nodded at me, seemingly convinced by my words. Just as he was about to turn around, he suddenly bent his body like a shrimp and then sprang forward as if propelled by a spring, lunging towards me.
It was clear that this young man had impressive jumping ability. He had also learned a few flashy martial arts moves, and as he flew towards me, he posed in a fighting stance mid-air.
However, I knew it was just showy martial arts. When he was less than a meter away from me, I raised my leg and kicked him directly in the chest, sending him flying out the door with a loud thud as he fell to the ground.
"What are you doing? If you're playing sneak attack, you're still too inexperienced! You haven't even seen this person yet, and you're coming here looking for trouble—aren't you asking for it?" I scoffed.
"You’re full of crap! There’s clearly his human skin mask on the sofa!" Bi Fu Dao got up from the ground and pointed angrily at the sofa. "You liar!"
Oh no, there was indeed Hua Wuqiu's human skin mask lying on the sofa. I was at a loss for words; how embarrassing to be caught red-handed.
However, I still had to deny it: "Anyway, I didn't see any hideous monster. Hurry up and get out of here before I throw you out!"
"Fine, just wait! I'll call my brother to come and beat you up!" Bi Fu Dao glared at me fiercely before walking out.
Your brother? It can't be Bi Fu Jian, can it?
I stepped forward and stuffed the ugly Mask into the drawer of the TV cabinet. I wanted to knock on the door to inform Hua Wuqiu, but I was afraid of waking her up since I had promised to let her sleep well. Forget it, let her sleep. If she doesn’t come out on her own, I won’t go call her.
If this is really a trial period test, it should be over by now, right? I genuinely don’t understand what ability this is testing.
While I was lost in thought, there was another series of knocks at the door. I called out irritably, “Come in!”
The door opened, and another athletic boy walked in, wearing a baseball cap and a baseball uniform, with a bat slung over his shoulder and an unhappy expression on his face. His features were somewhat similar to those of Bi Fu Dao from earlier, so it seemed this person was Bi Fu Dao's brother.
“Are you Bi Fu Jian?” I asked uncertainly.
“Wrong. My name is Bi Fu Qiang!” the baseball boy replied coldly.
“Are you serious about this?” I glanced at the bat resting on his shoulder.
“Stop wasting time. If you don’t hand over the ugly one, we’re not done with you!” Bi Fu Qiang shot me a glance. “I’ll give you a chance: either hand over the ugly one now or find yourself a decent weapon.”
I looked around and pulled a dried flower from the vase on the Coffee Table. “Alright, I found a weapon!”
Seeing me treat him with such disdain, Bi Fu Qiang’s expression changed as he charged at me swinging the bat.
Seeing him swing the bat, I felt relieved. Although he was much stronger than Bi Fu Dao, he was still no match for me. I quickly dodged and tackled him down with a few punches and kicks, then started hitting him with the dried flower until he fled in defeat.
“Just wait! I’ll call my uncle to deal with you!” Bi Fu Qiang shouted as he left.
His uncle? What is his uncle called?
I directly opened the door and stood at the entrance waiting for his uncle's arrival.
Sure enough, after more than ten minutes, a middle-aged man with a scruffy beard appeared at my door. Huh, this person's appearance is somewhat similar to Fatty.
"Are you Bi Fu Qiang's uncle?" I asked with a smile. "What should I call you?"
"Just call me Old Bi!" The middle-aged man looked around and then focused his gaze on me, smiling slightly. "Let's sit down and have a good chat. If I can't handle this matter properly, the next one to step in will be my father!"
"Your father?" I couldn't help but chuckle. Is your whole family planning to get involved?
"Yes, my father's name is Old Bi!"
"...Alright."
I led Old Bi to the sofa, and before we could sit down, he reached out to shake my hand. I cautiously extended my hand to shake his, and just as I was about to let go, Old Bi winked at me and said in an almost inaudible voice, "Zheng Nan, I'm Fatty!"
