Zhong Kui's Diary
"Who knows," Chen Shan shrugged.
"While it's true that social status matters, if Zhao Donghai and Zhu Qi got together, Ren Feiyu wouldn't go and break them up, right?" I shook my head. "These businessmen care about their reputation; asking them to be the third party would be quite embarrassing."
"Hehe." Chen Shan laughed strangely.
"What do you mean by that laugh?"
"Actually, Ren Feiyu is handsome and charming, generous and well-off; he is the best match for Zhu Qi."
"What do you mean?" I was increasingly confused.
"Ren Feiyu and Zhu Qi are already a couple; it's Zhao Donghai who wants to be the third party, shamelessly pursuing Zhu Qi. After all, Ren Feiyu isn't married to Zhu Qi, right? They aren't even engaged, so there's no moral issue with what he's doing." Chen Shan laughed heartily.
Damn, what a mess of nonsense.
...
That night I applied for overtime again. Xiao Lin praised my enthusiasm greatly. If she knew I was working late for reasons other than work, would she fire me immediately?
Unfortunately, that night many people were working overtime in the hall. The photocopier and the altar showed no abnormalities either. In this situation, I could only check the restroom. I went to the restroom six or seven times in a row, but the sound of a lighter didn't appear. Instead, a girl in the hall mysteriously grabbed my arm: "You are Zhong Zhengnan from the Marketing Department, right?"
"Uh?"
"My boyfriend opened a store on Taobao."
"Uh... uh?"
"Mainly selling Six-Flavor Rehmannia Pill. Would you like to try a course? Buy one course and get five Dual Color Ball lottery tickets for free..."
Damn, do I look like I have kidney deficiency?
Forget it, let's leave it at that for tonight. After clocking out and walking out of the building, just as I was about to raise my hand to hail a taxi, a black car across the street honked twice. Looking up, I saw a Brawny Man leaning out from the driver's seat, smiling and waving at me, his white teeth shining brightly under the colorful lights.
I recognized this big guy; he was Aguang, one of Tang Zian's subordinates. He was the one who rushed into my hospital room last time I was admitted but fled without making a move.
"Boss, want to take a black cab? I've got a receipt!" Aguang shouted loudly while winking at me.
"How much to Construction Road?" I paused for a moment before answering loudly. It struck me as funny; who drives a Benz as a black cab?
"Flat rate, 5 bucks, and I'll throw in a pack of Vita napkins."
"Let's go!"
I sat in the passenger seat and looked back; sure enough, Tang Zian and Zeng Xian were both grinning in the back seat. After Aguang asked for my home address, he started the car and drove at a leisurely pace.
"Wow, Tang Zong, Zeng Zong, it's great to see you two in person! Otherwise, I would have thought you were just company legends," I said with feigned surprise.
Since I reported to the company, I hadn't seen either Tang Zian or Zeng Xian. Several times, I doubted whether I had come to the wrong company.
Tang Zian chuckled, "I was worried that if we met you and noticed something off about your expression, it would be bad. So, how's everything going?"
I hadn't called him recently, so he was completely unaware of the situation here. Clearing my throat, I replied, "So far, there hasn't been any progress."
Tang Zian seemed unconcerned: "No rush, take your time."
Hmm? You were so eager to find me earlier that you couldn't wait for me to uncover the truth. Why are you so calm now? Not wanting to hide my confusion, I asked directly.
Tang Zian smiled apologetically and said, "Actually, it's like this. My grandfather has handed me another company, which is larger than Rui Fashion, and there haven't been any supernatural incidents there. So I've been busy with that company and haven't had time to focus on this one, haha."
Hearing Tang Zian say this made me extremely uncomfortable. Hey, you were in such a hurry at first; I only agreed to help you uncover the truth, and now you're telling me to take it slow? Am I just sitting around with nothing better to do than help you investigate this incident?
Just as I was about to tell Aguang to stop the car, I thought about it and realized that if I just walked away like this, given my nature of wanting to get to the bottom of everything, I would probably end up seeking them out myself in a few days. Sigh, I might as well treat this as my own business; after all, I'm just sitting here doing nothing.
Tang Zian had no idea that I was considering leaving at that moment and continued to smile, saying, "Ghost Brother, my company over there is an agent for Orange Phone. The latest Orange 6 is about to be launched soon. I've ordered one for my brothers; you should ask your sister-in-law what color they like and let me know."
"Thanks for your kindness, but can it be exchanged for cash?" I replied with a smile. "Originally, Fatty and I were using the Orange 4s, but we had no signal for several days and barely managed to return them. Now you want to give me an Orange Phone? Are you trying to bring up my sad memories? Cash it out for me."
"I know about the previous issues; it's because of that incident that I managed to negotiate a lower price when taking over this company and also became its general agent," Tang Zian laughed. "I actually have to thank this signal incident."
"You took over Ma's company?" A middle-aged man with a weathered face suddenly appeared in my mind.
"What Ma's company?" Tang Zian asked in surprise.
"Ghost Brother's should be Malen," Zeng Xian interjected.
"Oh—right, right, Malen," Tang Zian exclaimed, laughing. "Ghost Brother, that Malen is just a professional manager at Mobile Store; the real boss is Sha Zhiyuan."
"Sha Zhiyuan?" I paused for a moment before laughing again. "Does Tang the Elder have a grudge against Sha Zhiyuan?"
"No," Tang Zian asked suspiciously. "Ghost Brother, what do you mean by that?"
"Both companies you acquired belong to Sha Zhiyuan; I thought you had a grudge against him. Oh, I get it now—taking advantage of someone in trouble! Tang the Elder must have something on Sha Zhiyuan and is taking advantage of the situation." I laughed heartily. Only I could make such jokes; others wouldn't dare.
"Are you saying my grandfather used the Orange Phone signal incident to blackmail Sha Zhiyuan?" Tang Zian asked in shock.
"Not this incident but another matter," I shook my head, feeling my mood sour as I recounted what I had heard from Lingfeng about Litong. After listening, Tang Zian and Zeng Xian were immediately furious, cursing both the police chief and Liu Police Officer as inhumane while also condemning Sha Zhiyuan for being cruel-hearted.
"The head of that police station only got dismissed; that's too lenient for him. We need to give him some trouble. Xian, I'll leave this matter entirely in your hands," Tang Zian said firmly.
"No problem," Zeng Xian nodded vigorously. "He's already been dismissed, so giving him a beating wouldn't even count as assaulting an officer!"
"Make sure to call me when it happens," I casually added.
After a few more exchanges, I realized that Tang Zian's reason for contacting me was simply out of concern that I might rush into the investigation and cause some mishap, which would leave him with no excuses. Hearing this eased the lingering doubts in my mind, and I silently vowed that based on his words, I would help him thoroughly investigate the supernatural incidents at Rui Company.
When I returned home, I found an extra person there—specifically, a beautiful woman.
"Who is this?" I asked Guo'er.
"This is Yeh Rong. I just brought her out from the Rehabilitation Center," Guo'er replied softly.
"Does she know?" I inquired, referring to her daughter Ye Litong's situation.
"Yes, she knows," Guo'er nodded.
Seeing Yeh Rong's blank expression and calm demeanor surprised me. "Why is she so calm? This seems a bit off."
Anyone who learns that their biological daughter has passed away would at least cry uncontrollably; Yeh Rong's tranquility was something even a seasoned monk might struggle to maintain.
"Qingcheng first gave her a calming spell before telling her about Litong. We don't know how she'll react once we lift the spell," Guo'er said, nodding towards Qingcheng.
Noticing my gaze shift to her, Qingcheng smiled wryly. "We were waiting for you to return before lifting the spell."
I was taken aback. "Why did you have to wait for me?"
"Because I don't know if she will go crazy after revoking the Spell," Qingcheng said with a bitter smile on her face. "After all, she is my own daughter."
"No problem," I replied immediately. "What do you want me to do later? Hehe, now you know the benefits of having a man around, right? Don't worry, with me here, even if she goes crazy, I won't let her hurt my wives."
Qingcheng rolled her eyes at me. "Hmph, as if I can't manage without you. I don't need your help! What a joke, I'm also at Master Level."
"Come on, your skills are only effective against the Spell. In terms of combat power, you're not much better than Guo'er," I laughed.
Qingcheng stopped arguing with me and pressed a Spell onto Yeh Rong's forehead. Then I heard a clucking sound from Yeh Rong's throat, followed by her mumbling: "Impossible, this can't be happening. Litong must be fine; she's lying to me, she's lying to me..."
With a bitter smile, Qingcheng shook her head and sighed, "Sister Yeh, I'm really not lying to you..."
Upon hearing this, Yeh Rong's eyes instantly turned red. She screamed and lunged at Qingcheng, scratching at her face with her fingers and letting out a piercing howl: "You're lying!"
I reacted immediately and grabbed Yeh Rong by the shoulders. Just as I was about to kick her away, I suddenly remembered that she was just an ordinary woman who had just lost her child. The emotional blow was too great for her; it wasn't appropriate to strike her again. I quickly withdrew my foot and pushed her back gently. "Yeh Rong, are you crazy?"
