Zhong Kui's Diary
Zhao Donghai slowly turned around, his face revealing an unmistakable surprise. "Oh, I didn't expect you to have such a Grandmaster Level Restriction. Impressive."
I chuckled and said, "Aren't you going to show some reaction? You should at least spit out a couple of mouthfuls of blood for effect."
Zhao Donghai smiled slightly. "Don't you want to know who I am? I'll tell you now, my name is Yun Zhihan."
"Yun Zhihan?" I frowned and repeated the name, feeling like I had heard it somewhere before. Suddenly, I shouted, "Wait, you're Yun Zhihan? One of the twelve Grandmaster Level experts in the Yin-Yang Realm?"
Zhao Donghai's expression brightened. "Since you know Yun Zhihan, you should also know my nickname: Ice Sovereign."
"Uh, what does that mean?" I asked, puzzled.
"I'll just tell you this: your Ice Realm has no effect on me," Yun Zhihan said with a smile.
With that statement from Yun Zhihan, I recalled something. The first time I encountered the Flame Barrier in the Fire Realm, I had consumed a Fire Spirit Fruit, which allowed me to thrive in the Fire Realm. This indicated that the Ice, Fire, Wind, and Thunder Fourfold Profound Realms have properties that interact with each other; fire attributes thrive in the Fire Realm while Yun Zhihan, known as the Ice Sovereign, would naturally be unaffected in the Ice Realm.
Realizing this, I couldn't help but snort coldly. I reached into my Mustard Seed Pendant and pulled out a Thunder Realm on my left hand and a Fire Realm on my right hand, activating the Restrictions. I raised my chin at Yun Zhihan and said, "Since that's the case, why don't you try these two Restrictions?"
Yun Zhihan's expression changed instantly. Without any warning, he flickered several times between visibility and invisibility before disappearing from sight. However, his voice still reached me from ahead: "I'm not sick; why would I touch such Restrictions?"
"Ha! So you do know fear!" Fatty laughed from a distance.
"I do fear these Restrictions!" Yun Zhihan's voice began to sound ethereal, echoing all around us. "But I'm not afraid of you because these Restrictions are passive and can only attack when triggered. In other words, as long as I don't touch this Restriction, it’s just a decoration."
Yun Zhihan's words struck directly at my weakness. Despite this, I still had to hold my ground. "Don't just talk; come and give it a try if you're brave enough."
"Hey, alright, I'll play with you." Yun Zhihan smiled lightly.
Before the words left his mouth, I was slapped hard across the face. I was instantly filled with rage, swinging the two golden orbs in my hands wildly, but I didn't hit anything.
"Do you want to keep playing?" Yun Zhihan's voice came from my left behind.
I turned and threw a punch in the direction of the voice, the golden orbs tracing a graceful arc through the air.
Still, I didn't hit anything. Just as I stumbled forward, losing my balance, another slap echoed against my cheek. Fortunately, Yun Zhihan only intended to humiliate me; although the slaps were loud, they didn't cause me any real harm.
But the more this happened, the angrier I became. Damn it, getting slapped in the face was so humiliating.
I felt like a wild boar on steroids, wildly punching and kicking at the air while Yun Zhihan just laughed coldly, occasionally delivering another light slap to my face. It wasn't heavy, but that humiliation tore at my insides.
After about twenty slaps, Yun Zhihan suddenly stopped and said again, "This is boring. I'm done playing; I'm leaving."
This time his voice seemed to come from all directions, and I couldn't tell where he was at all.
"Stop... stop right there!" I gasped out.
"What's wrong? Don't you know I'm going easy on you?" Yun Zhihan chuckled lightly. Suddenly, a strong wind whooshed by, and the Bluestone floor beneath my feet shattered: "If I used that kind of strength to slap your face, do you think your head is harder than this stone slab?"
"Let me tell you, maybe I'm not your match now, but one day I will trample you underfoot! The humiliation you're giving me now will be repaid double." I gritted my teeth and said.
"You fool, have you watched too many fantasy shows? Next you'll be heading to some secret chamber or Pagoda to cultivate your skills, your meridians will widen and your power will surge. When you come out, you'll think you've reached some Emperor level? Don't kid yourself. With that Kung Fu, you should focus on enjoying tonight's supper instead." Yun Zhihan's mocking laughter echoed around me.
Listening to Yun Zhihan relentlessly attacking me, I felt something was off. After all, he was one of the twelve Grandmaster-level Experts; did he really need to be so verbose with me? If I were a master and he were an ordinary person, I could have just slapped him to death without all this nonsense.
However, it was difficult to ask him about it. Should I really press him on why he didn't just kill me? If I did that, wouldn't I just look foolish?
Just as I was lost in thought, Yun Zhihan's figure appeared at the foot of the mountain. I could vaguely see him waving goodbye to us before he calmly left.
After a long while, Fatty walked over to me, stammering, "Ghost Brother, what does this mean?"
"Who knows? Just a habitual show-off," I replied, equally confused.
"I've been watching from the side and it all seemed a bit strange," Fatty frowned.
"Huh? What seemed strange?"
"This Zhao Donghai... uh, Yun Zhihan initially wanted to kill both of us, but for some reason, he suddenly changed his mind. Although he hit you hard at first, it was clear he didn't really go all out," Fatty pointed at the shattered stone slab beneath my feet and said, "If he had really slapped you with full force, wow, I can't even imagine how that would have looked."
I rolled my eyes. "I felt the same way but couldn't pinpoint the turning point."
Fatty and I analyzed the situation together and finally concluded that Yun Zhihan's attitude changed after seeing me holding the Book of Life and Death.
Thinking of this, I took out my phone and dialed a number—one that Jiang Ziyu had given me.
"Did you get news about the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin so soon?" Jiang Ziyu's voice sounded surprised.
"Uh, not exactly. Here's what happened..." I recounted our encounter with Yun Zhihan in detail and asked him what Yun Zhihan's actions meant. After all, they were both among the twelve top experts; they should know each other somewhat.
"Cut it out, what else could it be? He knows about your Yin-Yang Physique and is probably thinking he might use you in the future, which is why he didn't kill you," Jiang Ziyu said dismissively.
"Use my Yin-Yang Physique? Is he also looking for the Book of Life and Death?" I asked in surprise. "But I showed him the Book of Life and Death right in front of him, and he didn't seem interested at all."
"Cut it out, how significant is the Book of Life and Death?"
Although I couldn't see Jiang Ziyu's face, I could imagine the disdain on it from his tone. What was going on? Wasn't the Book of Life and Death a priceless treasure?
Thinking of this, I couldn't help but voice my confusion. Jiang Ziyu coughed twice and said, "It's not like that. The greatest function of the Book of Life and Death is that it can let you live to 800 years old. For ordinary people like you, that might be a height that's hard to even dream of reaching, but for us Grandmaster-level Experts, living a thousand or eight hundred years is really not a problem."
"You mean you all can live to a thousand or eight hundred years?" I asked skeptically.
"Not now, but we definitely can live that long, or even longer," Jiang Ziyu replied confidently.
"So what does Yun Zhihan mean?" I pondered for a moment before asking.
"Like me, he's looking for the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin," Jiang Ziyu sneered.
"The Yin-Yang Ancient Coin?" I repeated in astonishment.
In my eyes, the Book of Life and Death was already an impressive treasure. Even Lou Wei had established the Treasure Office under authorization from number one, with ample manpower and resources at its disposal. Yet this treasure seemed to be insignificant in the eyes of these twelve Grandmaster-level Experts, while the significance of the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin far surpassed that of the Book of Life and Death.
What exactly was this Yin-Yang Ancient Coin? As I thought about it, I asked Jiang Ziyu. He paused for a moment before stammering, "This thing... it's not clear to you either. Let's talk about something else. By the way, I heard Jolin Tsai is coming to Star City for a concert. Can you help me get a VIP ticket for the front row?"
"Come on, you're already a Grandmaster-level Expert; do you still need tickets?" Then I realized Jiang Ziyu was changing the subject and quickly brought it back: "If you don't tell me the function of the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin, next time I have one, I'll just give it to Ji Wuyuan or Ghost Zombie!"
"Hey, Zheng Nan, you can't do this," Jiang Ziyu suddenly became anxious. "Didn't I tell you that already?"
"Yeah."
"The Yin-Yang Ancient Coin is similar to the Book of Life and Death; both are formed from the fusion of earth energy. The Seven Pages of Life and Death Manual can summon the Judgment of Life and Death, allowing entry into the Hall of Life and Death to modify the Book of Life and Death, after which the Seven Pages of the Treasure of Life and Death will scatter in all directions. But the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin is different; its energy is more refined..." Jiang Ziyu clicked his tongue on the other end of the phone. "Think of it this way: the Book of Life and Death is like a key that can open a door to immortality, while the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin is like a pill that can greatly enhance a Cultivator's or Demon's internal power."
I wasn't sure about his claims; after all, in this area, Jiang Ziyu was an authority—whatever he said was considered true.
"So, does that mean your internal power has increased significantly now?" I asked casually.
"That's just a metaphor. To absorb the energy of the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin, you need seven Yin-Yang Ancient Coins together for it to be effective," Jiang Ziyu replied with a laugh.
"According to what you're saying, Yun Zhihan also wants to find the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin through me and then just take it away?"
"Absolutely! It's like a coal mine boss who doesn't dig for coal himself; he has coal miners to do it for him... Uh, that example makes no sense at all. Just ignore me, haha!" Jiang Ziyu laughed heartily.
"Alright then." I hung up the phone in annoyance. Deep down, I knew that in their eyes, I was no different from a coal miner.
