Zhong Kui's Diary
I raised the gift in my hand: "I'm here to visit the patient."
"Bringing cigarettes and alcohol to visit a patient?" Qiao Yi paused, glancing at my gifts with suspicion.
"Come on, what’s the point of bringing apples and bananas?" I casually tossed the cigarettes, alcohol, and candy onto the nearby bed and sat down. "These things can still be used after you recover. How many apples and bananas can you store?"
"That makes some sense." Qiao Yi, unable to grasp my intentions, could only respond casually.
"You go out for a bit; I need to talk to Xuan Ge." I smiled at Qiao Yi.
"How is that possible?" Qiao Yi said anxiously. "What if you make a move?"
I smiled without saying anything and looked at Li Hanxuan.
"Qiao, you should step outside," Li Hanxuan said. "If he really wants to make a move, you won't be able to stop him."
Qiao Yi hesitated for a moment but eventually walked out.
"Actually, I don't need to be so polite with you." Once Qiao Yi left, I directly said, "Did you go to Shacheng to find a young man to come online in Star City?"
Li Hanxuan was taken aback by my words, his expression shifting as he looked at me. After a while, he finally replied, "You... know about it?"
Hearing this from him, I realized this matter was indeed Li Hanxuan's doing. I smiled slightly: "I'm curious how your leg injury healed so quickly."
"I..." Li Hanxuan opened his mouth to speak but hesitated for a moment before finally saying, "There are advanced technologies involved."
"Are you Jiang Chengguang?" I couldn't be bothered with any advanced technology and smiled coldly.
"No..." Li Hanxuan hesitated for a long time before finally answering.
"Who?" I asked.
Li Hanxuan looked at me, his eyes filled with panic, but he remained silent.
No way, I'll beat you to death. A surge of anger rose within me, and just as I was about to stand up and take action, a sinister voice echoed in the air: "Zhong Zhengnan, do you really want to know the answer?"
A chill ran down my spine as I turned to look in the direction of the voice. Suspended in mid-air was a Silver Round Can, its nature uncertain—whether it was Lucky Light or Cursed Light.
"Cursed God? Cursed Light?" I asked uncertainly.
"Exactly," the Round Can replied, "Cursed Light."
"What did you mean by that last statement?" I focused intently, ready to unleash two bolts of lightning if this Cursed Light seemed off.
"I just asked if you wanted to know the answer," Cursed Light snorted coldly.
"And if I want to know the answer?"
"Go to the top floor of Sky Building at midnight tonight, and you'll find out," Cursed Light sneered.
"And if I don't want to know the answer?" I narrowed my eyes.
"Then just wait for your friends' bodies to be collected. They will jump off the rooftop at midnight," Cursed Light scoffed. "If you don't believe me, you don't have to go."
"Alright then, midnight tonight." I made my decision immediately.
The Silver Round Can flickered and flew straight out of the window, disappearing in an instant as if everything that had just happened was merely an illusion.
Since it has come to this, there is no need to waste any more time on Li Hanxuan. After leaving the hospital and making all the necessary preparations, I just had to wait until midnight to go to the top floor of Sky Building.
Before eleven o'clock, I called Fortune God. After listening to the pleasant voice of the goddess repeat for half a minute, the call finally connected.
I relayed the latest situation to Fortune God, who simply replied with "Got it" before hanging up. Seriously, could you be any less reliable? What does "got it" even mean? Aren't we supposed to be an alliance?
At eleven forty, I arrived at the top floor of Sky Building. At that moment, the rooftop was empty. I knocked a few times on the Cooling Tower, but Fortune God did not respond.
Could it be that they were scared off? I speculated randomly, lighting a cigarette and exhaling smoke while glancing at the time, eagerly waiting for midnight to arrive.
At twelve o'clock, a buzzing sound filled the air as hundreds of Round Cans came rushing from all directions, hovering in the air and slowly undulating without making a sound.
"Cursed God, if you have the guts, come out!" I shouted nonchalantly. Since I was fully prepared and not joking around, I had Icebound Expanse, Wind Sweeping Away the Clouds, and Blazing Barrier—three Mysterious Realm Golden Spheres—hanging from my belt. If things got chaotic, I could just throw a golden sphere.
"What's the rush?" A very slow voice came from my left front, sounding similar to how Fatty spoke before they went missing.
Around this voice, Cursed Light's up-and-down movement also slowed significantly; everything seemed to be in slow motion. Then, the lights in the air flickered a few times before a silvery ball appeared.
"Fortune God?" I asked in surprise.
"I am Cursed God." The ball made a mechanical humming sound that resembled an electronic synthesis.
I almost forgot that both Fortune God and Cursed God were of the same type of battle robot and looked quite similar: "Then why did you disguise yourself as a skeleton before? Are you sick?"
"The world of adults is something children will never understand!" Cursed God huffed again.
That wasn't entirely wrong; compared to them from sixty-five million years ago, I could only be considered a child.
Immediately after, Cursed God transformed with a series of clicks, revealing an exceptionally delicate figure in front of me. Unlike Fortune God, Cursed God actually took on a female form.
Looking at the two protrusions on its chest, I was momentarily stunned.
"Never seen one before?" Cursed God sneered.
"I've seen them, just not one this exquisite," I casually remarked, then quickly frowned. "Where's my friend?"
"Your friend?" Cursed God laughed heartily. "With that attitude of yours, if I don't tell you where your friend is, are you going to come up and hit me?"
"Just as long as you know," I admitted directly.
"Then let's have some fun!" Cursed God snorted coldly. At that moment, I sensed something strange; Cursed God's voice sounded odd, almost like a recording.
However, there was no time to think too much about it, because with Cursed God's cold snort, the hundreds of Cursed Lights in the air suddenly blazed brightly, and the sound grew louder, transforming from a buzzing noise into a roaring one. Immediately after, each Round Can began to emit a colorful arc of light.
Damn, how rude! We haven't even started yet, and with this kind of mindset, can I expect you to sacrifice yourself to blow up a bunker and block the gunfire while we live happily ever after? I shouted "Thunderous Strike," and instantly, lightning as thick as an arm filled the air.
This was the most powerful move I could unleash so far; it should be somewhat useful, right?
Lightning is essentially electric current, and these metal Round Cans are the best conductors. With crackling sounds, all those Cursed Lights were shattered by my lightning.
I could hardly believe it. In my mind, this Cursed God appeared so formidable; surely it had some unbeatable assurance or at least a few trump cards. I never expected to take it down so easily. It felt like preparing for a grand battle with a gun in one hand and a Rocket Launcher in the other, only for hundreds of chickens to come running at me instead.
"Cursed God!" I shouted anxiously. What if this round of lightning had killed Cursed God as well? If it's dead, who am I supposed to ask about Fatty and the others?
The air fell silent; there was no response. On the ground, something round flickered briefly. Squinting to see better, I realized it was a Yin-Yang Ancient Coin.
I walked over in surprise and picked it up. Focusing closely, I confirmed it was indeed a Yin-Yang Ancient Coin. Wait, how does this Cursed God have a Yin-Yang Ancient Coin? Isn't that supposed to belong to Fortune God? Then I thought again; everything about Cursed God seemed like fairy tales—just lies. Feeling relieved, I pocketed the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin.
"Damn it, Cursed God! Get out here!" I yelled several times.
"He's dead! The Cursed God is dead." In an instant, another voice echoed through the air; it was the voice of the Fortune God.
"Fortune God?" I asked uncertainly.
"That's right," came the reply. Just like when the Cursed God appeared, there was a flickering in the air, and a ball emerged. With a crackling sound, the ping pong ball transformed into an exquisite figure.
"What happened?" I pointed at the fragments on the ground that had been nearly obliterated by lightning and asked.
"What else could it be? Overestimating oneself," the Fortune God chuckled.
"Then where are my friends?" I shouted hoarsely.
"Uh, there’s a notebook in the Cursed God's space; it should have information about your friends," the Fortune God said, and with a gesture, a silver-white Metal Plate appeared in the air, which looked just like Speechless Stifling.
"This notebook of yours? Don't joke around; this is clearly Speechless Stifling. Touching it will paralyze you," I mocked.
"This is Speechless Stifling," the Fortune God snorted, and another A4-sized Metal Plate appeared in the air. Compared to the previous one, this Metal Plate had clearer patterns.
"So what should I do?" I pointed at the so-called notebook.
The Fortune God put away Speechless Stifling and said lightly, "It's simple. Just hold the notebook and sense it with your heart."
I agreed with a smile but suddenly exclaimed, "Two Oriole Sing in the Green Willows!"
The Fortune God laughed heartily: "A Branch of Red Apricot Leaps Over the Wall!"
I nodded and reached out with my left hand toward that Metal Plate. As soon as I touched it, I let out a piercing scream: "Damn it, this is Speechless Stifling! Fortune God, you beast, you actually set me up!"
The Fortune God burst into wild laughter, and after a while, he finally calmed down enough to say, "Fortune God? You still think I'm the Fortune God?"
"Who are you?" I shouted sternly.
"I am the Cursed God!" The Fortune God sneered. With that sneer, the air shimmered, and soon after, Qingcheng and Kong Xuan fell from the sky, each bound tightly like a rice dumpling, their mouths stuffed with towels, making muffled sounds upon seeing me.
"I can't move either," I said with a bitter smile. "Are you all okay?"
The three of them nodded vigorously, with tears streaming down Qingcheng's face.
"Cursed God, what is going on? Could you please explain?" I asked dejectedly, like a defeated rooster. "Even if I'm going to die, at least let me die understanding."
"It's simple. From the very beginning until now, we have been using you!" The Cursed God's voice was filled with pride.
"You all?" I asked in surprise.
"Yes, us!" The Cursed God laughed. "Now, allow me to introduce my partner, the leader of the Dragon Gang—Jiang Chengguang. Please welcome Mr. Jiang to make his grand entrance!"
From a distance, footsteps echoed from the entrance of the stage. Looking closely, I was surprised to see a familiar face approaching.
