Zhong Kui's Diary
Just as the teeth of the Long-necked Water Monster were less than a fist's width from my scalp, and its other four long necks were almost wrapping around my chest and abdomen, a sharp pain suddenly surged in my belly, as if a Rope was digging into my flesh. It reminded me that I still had a Mysterious Realm Golden Sphere tied to my stomach with a net bag. The pain was caused by the monster's long neck spreading around my waist, tightening the net around my belly.
I almost forgot that I had this Mysterious Realm Golden Sphere.
With renewed energy, I gathered all my strength and suddenly contracted my waist. This way, the golden sphere tied to my stomach would come into contact with the long neck of the Water Monster coiling around my abdomen. At the same time, I quickly shifted my thoughts and dove into the Mysterious Realm Golden Sphere.
Before I could call out to the Wind Rooster, I found a massive figure standing beside me. Its huge body, thick limbs, long tail, and five necks swaying about were none other than the Long-necked Water Monster.
I actually entered the Mystical Realm at the same time as it did.
The long-necked monster seemed to be caught off guard. I immediately channeled my energy and shot towards it, shouting, "I'll knock you out with one punch!"
Boom!
This punch directly hit the monster's thick front leg, and I heard a cracking sound as its bones shattered.
Hmm, it seems that in the Wind Rooster's Mystical Realm, my powers are much stronger than they were in the water. Earlier outside, when I punched this Long-necked Water Monster in the head, it seemed unaffected. Now, with one punch, I could shatter its leg bones.
"Run! You idiot!" came the Wind Rooster's shout in my ear.
I was taken aback; why was the Wind Rooster telling me to run? Just as I was confused, I saw the mountain-like body of the Long-necked Water Monster tremble and start to fall towards me.
It turned out that after I punched its leg and it suddenly lost support, its body was collapsing towards me. If that 'plump' body landed on me, wouldn't I turn into meat paste?
I turned to run, but no matter how fast I was, I couldn't outrun its massive body falling down. At that moment, the Wind Rooster shouted fiercely, "Winds rise and clouds gather!"
My hips suddenly jolted, as if I had been hit by a car, and I flew forward like an arrow released from a bow. When my feet finally touched the ground, the Long-necked Water Monster behind me crashed to the ground, its massive body just a foot away from my heels.
I was about to thank Wind Rooster when I heard its roar: "Continue the attack!"
Immediately after, Wind Rooster whispered an incantation and shouted, "Raging Wind!"
Countless Wind Blades fell upon the Long-necked Water Monster like raindrops. The monster roared incessantly, seemingly trying to struggle and rise. Its enormous head and four long necks swayed wildly. It seemed to spot me standing beside it and quickly lunged in my direction.
Damn, do you think I'm easy to bully?
I turned, lowered my stance, exhaled loudly, and executed another move, "I'll punch you to death," aiming for the monster's head.
Boom!
A loud crash echoed.
A tremendous force hit me, and I was sent flying about ten meters away. However, my punch had struck the center of its head, causing a dent. The skin at the dent was pressed outward, creating a Big Hole, and amidst the blood and flesh, I could vaguely see shattered white bones inside.
When I got back up, the Long-necked Water Monster struggled a couple of times before its thick neck collapsed to the ground. Its water tank-sized head bounced twice on the ground before falling silent.
This time, it should be dead for good, right?
Still feeling uneasy, I approached its head and delivered seven or eight more punches of "I'll punch you to death." With each strike, its head shattered into pieces, leaving my fists covered in a sticky mess and blood.
"Enough already! Are you planning to desecrate it? That's just disgusting," Wind Rooster said with a laugh.
"You don't understand; this guy is cunning," I replied, retracting my fist with lingering fear.
Wind Rooster asked me what happened, and I recounted the incident of Water Monster pretending to be dead outside. After hearing it, Wind Rooster felt a bit scared and quickly unleashed a powerful move, transforming Wind Blade into a massive Wind Blade, slicing through the remaining four long necks of the Long-necked Monster. Still feeling uneasy, he unleashed ten more powerful moves, turning the Water Monster into minced meat.
"Now it's safe!" I laughed heartily.
"Damn it, my master, next time you bring these creatures in, could you give me a heads-up? You had me all flustered," Wind Rooster complained.
"Got it, got it!" I chuckled as I walked out of the Mystical Realm.
As soon as I returned to the water, the Long-necked Water Monster opened its massive mouth and swallowed my head. I was horrified and quickly retreated back to the Mystical Realm, pointing at the pile of minced meat from the Long-necked Water Monster on the ground, and asked Wind Rooster in shock, "What the heck? Isn't this thing already dead?"
Wind Rooster was also surprised: "Of course, it's dead beyond recognition."
I explained what had happened outside, and Wind Rooster laughed heartily: "Master, is that all the courage you have?"
"What do you mean by that?" I retorted angrily.
"Inertia! Do you understand inertia?" Wind Rooster chuckled. "Earlier it lunged at you to bite; even if it's dead now, inertia still applies."
Thinking about it made me feel a bit embarrassed. Thankfully, it wasn't anyone else; if Fatty Kong Xuan and the others found out, they would surely laugh at me. I quickly changed the subject: "Your Mystical Realm is really strange; the body of this Water Monster has turned into minced meat here, but outside it remains intact."
"I won't bother explaining that to you; I doubt you'd understand!" Wind Rooster laughed.
"You haven't even tried; how do you know I wouldn't understand?" I snorted coldly.
"Well? Since that's the case, let's start with relativity. You should know about four-dimensional spacetime and curved space, right? The so-called four-dimensional..."
"Uh, I have something else to do; I'm leaving!"
“……”
Returning to the water once again, it turned out that the Long-necked Water Monster had only lunged at me due to inertia. Even so, its mouth still held my head inside, filled with its saliva, sticky like glue. Fortunately, the Water Monster was dead, and the long neck that had entangled my limbs was now powerless. I hurriedly removed the long neck from my hands and pushed its head away with all my strength, finally freeing my head.
Luckily, the flashlight was still on, though it was loose, so I took it off and wiped my face haphazardly. I pulled my feet out of the water and, without lingering, quickly headed back.
There were no more Water Monsters along the way. I crawled up onto the shore, which was already pitch black outside. Shen Sipan was sitting there smoking, the glowing tip flickering. When he saw me come up, he tossed away his cigarette butt: “Boss Zhong, you finally made it up.”
“Yeah!” I replied vaguely, feeling that there was still saliva from the Water Monster on my head. The sticky sensation made me extremely uncomfortable. Looking at the lake water beneath me, I lifted the Bubble Spell from the flashlight and handed it to Shen Sipan. Then I quickly stripped off all my clothes and took out some shampoo and soap to wash myself in the lake water. After drying off, I changed into a set of dry clothes and shoes before lighting a cigarette and smiling at Shen Sipan: “So, what happened while I was gone?”
Shen Sipan shook his head: “This place we came out to is very remote; no one has passed by at all. It's quite safe… So, Boss Zhong, where are we going next?”
“To Kunlun Mountain!” I tossed away the cigarette butt and checked my watch; it was already eight-thirty in the evening. It took me nearly two hours to activate the Giant Gate Platform's magic circle underwater and then return.
I summoned a portal, marked the location, and opened the door; it was dark on the other side as well.
The two of us stepped through. Shen Sipan held up the flashlight to illuminate our surroundings; it was desolate with animal remains scattered everywhere, creating a chilling atmosphere.
“This is Death Valley?” I scratched my head, feeling that this place didn't quite live up to its name. Just because a few animals died here does it deserve to be called Death Valley? What a joke; slaughterhouses kill hundreds of pigs every day—shouldn't they be renamed Death Valley too?
“Exactly! I have some understanding of Death Valley. So I know this place is indeed Death Valley,” Shen Sipan said with a smile.
“Oh?” I asked curiously: “Were you so bored before that you learned about this place?”
Shen Sipan laughed heartily: “Learning is like rowing upstream; not to advance is to drop back. In our line of work, we must constantly supplement our knowledge; otherwise, we will be eliminated by society…”
“Stop right there!” I quickly waved my hand to interrupt him: “Don't start lecturing me about Death Valley.”
"Putting it on is actually quite simple." Shen Sipan chuckled lightly, "This area has a significant magnetic anomaly. The range of the magnetic anomaly is broad, and the deeper you go into the valley, the stronger the magnetic anomaly becomes. This kind of magnetic anomaly, under electromagnetic effects, discharges with the charges in the clouds. This discharge phenomenon makes this place a thunder zone. The targets of lightning strikes are often the protruding rocks in the valley and animals entering the valley."
"You mean getting struck by lightning, right?" I summarized.
"Hehe, that's about the gist of it," Shen Sipan paused for a moment and then smiled.
"No worries, we can just set up a lightning rod!" I laughed. But in my mind, I was pondering what I could use as a lightning rod. A pickaxe? Or an Iron Shovel?
How about throwing a dagger into the air when there's lightning?
Shaking my head, I stopped thinking about those things and focused on recalling Jin Manyuan's hint: 'Kunlun Mountain Death Valley, there is a hexagonal mound with a radius of about one hundred meters at the center of the valley, and the Breaking Army Platform is located right in the middle of that mound.'
Clearing my throat, I took the flashlight from Shen Sipan's hand and shone it around, discovering that there was indeed a mound ahead. Although from my angle I couldn't tell if it was a Hexagon or not, I figured that the location of the portal shouldn't be too far off; this mound should be our destination.
As I approached and examined it closely, the mound wasn't particularly high—about eleven or twelve meters—but it was steep. After circling around it, I didn't find a suitable way to climb up. However, we did make some progress; at least we could confirm that this mound was indeed a Hexagon.
