Zhong Kui's Diary
Thinking about it, dragging someone out of bed in the middle of the night... uh, no, I mean dragging him away from the computer. Up until now, he was only wrapped in a blanket and wearing flip-flops.
I couldn't help but feel a bit guilty, so I pulled out some biscuits and mineral water from my Spatial Bag and handed them to Lu Jian. After a moment's thought, I also took out some clothes and gave them to him. Lu Jian stared blankly at the items, speechless. He definitely didn't understand where I got these things from, but I ignored him and turned to Shen Sipan, saying, "Brother Shen, see if you can hunt some beasts. Let's roast some game to eat!"
Upon hearing this, Shen Sipan licked his lips and smiled, "This is my specialty! Back in the day, I hunted for a whole year!"
Wow, this guy's life is really exciting. He's been a thief, a grave robber, and now he's trying his hand at being a hunter. And he's only in his early twenties—it's truly unbelievable.
The few of us sat down by the stream. Shen Sipan asked me for a dagger as he headed into the forest. I laughed and said, "If you encounter any big guys, just run back to us. I'll zap over there in a flash; any wild boar or tiger will be doomed."
Shen Sipan laughed as he walked away, while Lu Jian looked at me in shock. I nodded at him and pretended to smile coolly, saying, "I forgot to tell you—I have special abilities!"
Only then did Lu Jian seem to relax and nodded as he opened the biscuits and started munching on them.
About five or six minutes later, we heard Shen Sipan's loud shout coming from the forest, followed by rustling leaves as if something was rushing toward us.
Song Xi and I exchanged glances and stood up, secretly preparing our spells. Judging by the commotion, could it be that Shen Sipan really encountered something big?
With a whoosh, someone quickly emerged from the bushes in the forest—pale-faced and looking disheveled—it was Shen Sipan. Behind him, branches were thrashing about as if a giant beast was about to burst forth.
Seeing us, Shen Sipan seemed to breathe a sigh of relief as he ran and shouted, "Boss Zhong, it's up to you now!"
Before he finished speaking, a roar came from behind him. Shen Sipan cursed under his breath and dashed forward until he reached my side, bending over with hands on his knees and gasping for air.
Then with another whoosh, a large wild boar charged out of the bushes. This wild boar was as big as the giant one I encountered at Tianzhuang Township—its sharp tusks and massive body were reminiscent of an adult water buffalo as it crazily rushed toward us. (For details on the giant wild boar, see Chapter 098 of Moon Demon—Mysterious Golden Sphere.)
A giant wild boar?!
Damn it! It's time for revenge! In the past, I was chased around by your kind; now I'm going to take my vengeance on you.
Clearing my throat nonchalantly, I patted my sleeves and summoned a silver creature that was neither a cow, horse, tiger, nor leopard. It twisted in the air, baring its teeth.
This was the most impressive animal I could conjure. Previously, I had summoned Pleasant Goat and Big Bad Wolf, which were far too childish for combat. Although this creature was ugly, it was certainly better than Pleasant Goat; at least it looked somewhat menacing.
The silver Sphinx monster, under my control, proudly raised its head in the air and let out two powerful roars: "Awooo... Awooo..." Then, the Sphinx coughed loudly, and spherical bolts of lightning shot from its mouth like spit.
Boom! Boom! Boom! One by one, the spherical lightning struck the wild boar. To my surprise, the boar withstood six bolts of lightning without faltering. It raised its head violently, its eyes blood-red as it let out a fierce roar while panting heavily, charging towards me even faster.
As it charged, I could feel the ground trembling beneath my feet. Lu Jian gasped and fainted from the shock.
I cursed under my breath; my spell had gone awry. The bolts of lightning fell like rain, striking the boar about forty to fifty times before it emitted a chilling scream. Stumbling on its feet, it fell to the ground and let out a few more roars before rolling its eyes and dying.
Finally dead?
How could this creature have such strong defenses?
Seeing this, Shen Sipan cautiously approached the boar's corpse. After observing for a moment, he took out a dagger and stabbed it into the boar's neck, pulling it out swiftly as blood gushed forth like an arrow.
"It's dead!" Shen Sipan confirmed. He picked up his dagger and prepared to gut it but realized he couldn't move such a heavy boar. Looking around, he woke Lu Jian to help him turn the massive boar over.
While they were busy with that, I asked Song Xi in confusion, "Mengmeng, do you know what's going on? The spherical lightning I released could shatter a stone the size of a tabletop into pieces, yet this wild boar could withstand so many attacks. It's too strange."
Song Xi pondered for a moment and replied, "In this world, there are certain things that can naturally resist a degree of magical attacks, and the skin of giant wild boars is one of them."
I paused for a moment and suddenly recalled our underwater attack on Turtle Chancellor. I quickly asked, "Do these things include Giant Turtle shells?"
Song Xi nodded. "If we categorize them by level, the shell of the Eternal Sea Turtle is of the highest quality; it fears no magic at all. Note that it doesn't fear any of my magic—even Judgment of Life and Death."
"Are you kidding? According to your logic, sending an Eternal Sea Turtle would be enough to take down Judgment of Life and Death?" I couldn't believe it and raised an eyebrow in exaggerated disbelief.
"First of all, while the Eternal Sea Turtle has good defense, its attack power is simply pathetic and cannot harm the Judgment of Life and Death at all. Moreover, even if the Eternal Sea Turtle can withstand magical attacks, what does it matter? The Judgment of Life and Death can practice Dual Cultivation of Magic and Martial Arts; with one punch, it can unleash tremendous force. How could the Eternal Sea Turtle possibly endure that?" Song Xi laughed.
That makes sense. In the Dragon Palace, I had sparred with the Turtle Chancellor, and even I could handle him with my fists.
I thought to myself: "If I could use the shell of the Eternal Sea Turtle to create armor, then Jin Manyuan might not even be my match."
"Who is Jin Manyuan?" Song Xi asked in surprise.
"A beast, probably a Soul Level expert!" I said with a bitter smile. "I was threatened by him, which is why I came here to activate these seven magic circles!"
"A Soul Level expert? There really are such experts? In our Song Family, out of sixteen Grandmaster Level experts, not one has broken through to Soul Level," Song Xi said, her eyes shining with admiration. "Ghost Brother, you should take me to meet him!"
"What’s so great about him? He’s just an old fool," I replied unhappily. "You still haven't answered my question: if I get a shell from the Eternal Sea Turtle, can I fight that beast?"
"Theoretically yes, but a ten-thousand-year-old Giant Turtle is as rare as a phoenix feather or a unicorn horn, and they live deep in the ocean. How could you possibly find one?" Song Xi shot me a disdainful glance.
I didn't argue; I just chuckled and thought to myself: why not borrow the Turtle Chancellor's shell for fun? After all, he wouldn't die without it. Then I remembered something and called out to Shen Sipan: "Brother Shen, are you planning to roast it? Be careful when cutting the meat; don't ruin the Wild Boar Skin. I'm going to use it to make a leather jacket!"
"No problem!" Shen Sipan replied with a smile. Then he seemed to remember something and cursed himself: "Damn, I'm such an idiot! We only need to cut off a couple of hind legs for all of us to eat!"
Song Xi frowned at this: "You guys are really cruel; after all, this is a life."
With that, she turned around and pulled out a bulging plastic bag from her Spatial Bag. She tossed it behind her casually and shouted, "Brother Shen, there are fine salt, chili peppers, honey, and cumin in here—top-notch barbecue seasonings! Cough cough, remember to save me a piece of hind leg meat later!"
The seasoning pack landed perfectly on the tusk of that big wild boar with impressive precision.
"You carry barbecue seasonings with you; it seems you're quite the foodie!" I exclaimed in admiration.
"Are there girls like you?" Song Xi rolled her eyes.
"I was just complimenting you! You know, only good-looking girls have the right to be called foodies; ugly girls are just called gluttons!" I laughed heartily and changed the subject, "Let's talk about the Wild Boar Skin."
Song Xi's frown turned into a smile as she lightly said, "Besides the Eternal Turtle Shell and Wild Boar Skin, there are other animal hides or scales that can withstand a certain degree of magical power. Generally speaking, the effectiveness of these materials against magic is related to their age. For example, a hundred-year-old rhinoceros can only barely resist your Nine Divine Thunder, while a thousand-year-old rhinoceros might be able to withstand your Thunderous Strike. As for this wild boar, it can only resist dozens of lightning strikes; if its parents were around, they might be able to withstand hundreds or even thousands of lightning strikes..."
Just as I was about to scold her for being a jinx, a tremendous roar echoed through the forest, followed by a rustling sound of leaves. Looking in the direction of the noise, I saw a wave-like line rushing towards us from the bushes, as if an enormous beast was rapidly approaching.
Damn, this Song Xi and Shen Sipan are like VIPs among jinxes; any bad talk seems to come true!
Shen Sipan was quick-witted. Upon hearing the roar, he grabbed Lu Jian and ran behind us, while I waved my hand to summon a silver-white object resembling a dragon.
Roar!
With a loud roar, the bushes parted, and an exceptionally large wild boar shot out from the undergrowth.
In terms of size, this wild boar was at least twice as big as the previous one. In terms of ferocity, it was more intimidating than lions or tigers. And in terms of appearance—wow! Its tusks were over a meter long. Was that even a wild boar's tusk or an elephant's ivory?
This must be the Wild Boar King!
