Zhong Kui's Diary
The path back to the wooden house has been blocked. This loud noise has collapsed the passageway by at least several dozen meters. Although I have an Iron Shovel, by the time I dig through this passage, it will probably be too late.
I turned around and walked deeper into the passage. Since the way back to the wooden house is blocked, I might as well continue forward.
Returning to the spot with the Rope, I quickly climbed over and landed, looking around before pushing the iron door. As soon as I pushed it open a crack, a blinding light shone out. Instinctively, I squinted and stopped pushing the door until my eyes adjusted to the light, then I pushed it open fully.
Behind the iron door was a large hall, about the size of a classroom. Several incandescent lights hung from the ceiling, illuminating the entire hall as bright as day. Despite this, I did not turn off my flashlight; what if they suddenly turned off the Light Bulb?
Looking around, the hall was empty; there was nothing inside. The only odd thing was that there were three wooden doors lined up on the wall opposite me.
Cautiously, I approached the middle wooden door and examined it closely. The craftsmanship of this door was exquisite, almost beyond belief. Not only could I see the scales of the dragon carved on it clearly, but I could also count its whiskers.
In the center of this wooden door were three large characters—Golden Silver Pavilion.
Golden Silver Pavilion? Could it be that behind this door lies gold and silver treasures?
Stepping back a few paces, I turned to look at the other two doors. The two doors were almost identical in shape to the middle one; the only difference was that they had different inscriptions in the center. The left one read Beauty Pavilion, while the right one read Power Pavilion.
Beauty Pavilion? Golden Silver Pavilion? Power Pavilion?
What does this mean? Beauty Pavilion and Golden Silver Pavilion are somewhat understandable—one room for beauties and another for gold and silver treasures—but what does Power Pavilion mean? Can power really be quantified? Are they selling mayors or secretaries by weight?
Out of curiosity, I walked to the right door and pushed open the wooden door labeled Power Pavilion.
Behind the door was a room filled with dozens of large wooden boxes. Aside from that, there was nothing else. I casually walked up to one of the boxes and crouched down to take a look; written on top of it were two characters—County Head.
I was even more curious about what it meant for a box to be labeled County Head. Does it mean that if I open this box, I'll become a County Head? Unable to resist my curiosity, just as I was about to lift the lid of the box, a sudden instinct warned me. I stepped back two paces and switched my Shotgun for a Submachine Gun, using its bayonet to carefully pry open the box from a distance.
With a whoosh, a white mist surged from the wooden box, instantly enveloping everything within a meter of it. If I had been standing in front of the box at that moment, I would have been hit squarely in the face by this mist. There was no doubt that this white mist was not something good; it could very well knock me out or even lead to my death.
I stood up and cursed a couple of times, then surveyed the room again, confirming that there was nothing else besides the wooden box. I turned and exited the room, standing in front of two other wooden doors.
Beauty Pavilion or Golden Silver Pavilion, which room should I enter first?
If Fatty were here, he would definitely choose Beauty Pavilion. Thinking of Fatty made me even more worried; at this moment, he still had no idea what was going on. However, he should be safe for now.
Of course, this was just my speculation. Despite the deadly moves of those Severed Limbs, I still had to think this way because my reasoning had some basis. With the skills of the Severed Limbs, they could have easily killed Fatty after taking him down, but they didn’t; instead, they carried him away.
What were they going to do with Fatty? Were they planning to tie him up as a hostage? And what about the mysteriously missing Wen Zhan, as well as Wen Qianqian and Fang Feng? Were they also taken by these Severed Limbs? If they were planning to kidnap hostages, why didn’t they take Du Neng and Li Xiaoxiao instead of killing them?
A series of questions swirled in my mind, becoming increasingly chaotic. Just when I felt overwhelmed, I shook my head vigorously to clear my thoughts. If I couldn’t figure it out now, there was no point in dwelling on it; things would eventually reveal themselves.
Taking a deep breath, I pushed open the door to the Golden Silver Pavilion. As soon as I stepped inside, the sight before me astonished me greatly.
Behind the door was a corridor, not very long—about five or six meters. At the end of the corridor was an enormous room. From where I stood, I could see that the room was filled with dazzling treasures; various jewels were piled high.
I considered myself somewhat worldly, but I had never imagined seeing so many jewels—rubies, sapphires, emeralds, agates, and jadeite—all stacked before me like mountains. Regardless of their value, even just their sheer quantity was staggering.
Unable to resist, I stepped forward. Once I crossed into the room, I realized its width was nearly half that of a basketball court and its height reached five meters. As for its length, I couldn’t tell how long it was because it was completely filled with various jewels; I couldn’t see the other end of the room at all.
Looking at all these jewels before me, I found it impossible to describe their worth—there were fist-sized rubies and brick-sized emeralds… Moreover, judging by their quality, the rubies were crystal clear and the emeralds were vividly green; they were truly top-tier among top-tier gems. Just taking one fist-sized ruby outside would undoubtedly catapult you into the ranks of a billionaire.
No one could remain indifferent in front of such dazzling jewels; no one could stay calm when faced with treasures worth their weight in gold. Even though I had seen tons of gold before, those items paled in comparison to these jewels in both quantity and value.
Is this real? Or am I dreaming? Trembling slightly, I reached out my hand toward the sparkling jewels. Only by personally touching these treasures could I confirm that this wasn’t just a dream.
As my fingers touched the brick-sized jade, a light pop sounded, and the jade shattered like foam.
What the hell is going on? Could this jewelry actually be fake?
Before I could gather my thoughts, droplets of water splattered from the broken foam onto my hand, and a numb sensation instantly spread from my palm throughout my body. Soon after, I found myself completely immobilized, feeling as if I had been hit by a Paralysis Charm.
In an instant, I understood; this was a trap. The pile of priceless jewels before me was merely a decoy. Anyone who saw this mountain of jewelry would be unable to resist reaching out to touch it. The moment you did, the jewels would explode, releasing a drug that would render you helpless.
The designer of this trap was truly ingenious. However, a flicker of relief crossed my mind; thankfully, there was no poison hidden within these jewels. If it had been poison, I would have surely turned into mush or become nothing but bones by now.
But who exactly is the master of this secret passage? What does capturing us mean?
“Hi, Boss Zhong.” Just as I was lost in thought, a voice called out from behind me. A group of people entered through the door; judging by the footsteps, there were at least seven or eight of them.
I shouted angrily, “Who?”
“Oh, Boss Zhong really has a lot on his mind; it hasn’t even been two minutes and you can’t recognize my voice,” said a woman’s voice from behind me. Hmm, that voice sounds quite familiar.
Soon enough, the group turned to face me. No wonder the voice was so familiar; leading the group was the owner of Shangri-La Hotel. To her left was Sister Zhang, who was responsible for calling out to customers at the station, and to her right was A-Zhen, the beautiful woman who warned us not to come to Cauliflower Village. Behind them were four Muscular Men.
“How could it be you?” I asked in surprise. “Owner, is there some misunderstanding? We are just merchants here to buy medicinal herbs. Don’t be fooled by the gun in my hand; it’s just a toy I bought at a street stall for self-defense—ten bucks and they threw in a pack of napkins. Cough cough, did you see that Fatty? The one named Ding? No? I didn’t see him either and don’t know where he went. By the way, have you eaten? I still have some chocolate here…”
The reason I rambled on like this was that I sensed the numbness within me slowly dissipating. I wanted to buy some time; if I could regain some feeling, with the shotgun in my hand, I still had a fighting chance.
“Trying to waste time? We’ll take our time with you later. Someone tie him up first,” the owner said with a cold laugh, extinguishing any hope I had.
The four Muscular Men behind her immediately stepped forward with Climbing Ropes in hand. Damn it, they even took the ropes I left outside! Could they be any more ruthless?
The Muscular Men first took away my shotgun, then tied me up like a rice dumpling. After securing me, one of the big men kicked me to the ground.
The Boss Lady waved her hand, signaling the Muscular Men to step back, and squatted in front of me with a smile: "Zhong Boss, do you feel a bit better now?"
The numbness in my body was gradually fading, but what good was that? I was tied up like this; even taking a deep breath was difficult.
I forced a smile and said, "Boss Lady, I admit defeat. I just want to know what you're doing this for."
"You don't know? There's a saying: 'Everyone comes for profit, everyone leaves for profit.' I'm working so hard because I want to make some money to spend," the Boss Lady replied with a laugh.
"How much do you want? Just say it; there's nothing to negotiate here," I said with an effort to smile.
"Is that so? Based on what you just said, I'll give you a 5% discount later. Hahaha..." The Boss Lady laughed heartily before lowering her head and saying, "Since you checked in, I've had someone look into your background. Tsk tsk, although you don't have much money yourself, Lingfeng from the Ling Family is your friend, Yang Guo'er from the Yang Family, and Xiao Qingcheng from the Xiao Family is your girlfriend. With just these points, you can expect this amount!"
With that, the Boss Lady extended her index finger and made a gesture for 'one.'
"Are you kidnapping me and treating me as a hostage? But I don't think I'm worth a million," I said with a bitter smile.
