Zhong Kui's Diary
"What is it?" I asked in surprise.
"There is a mechanism designed by Zhang Qixia here!" Early Summer exclaimed loudly.
"A mechanism?" I questioned skeptically. "What kind of mechanism could this be? This is clearly gold!"
Early Summer walked over and smiled, "Don't you remember how you were taken down in the Golden Silver Pavilion? Those jewels were the mechanism."
I was immediately alarmed and quickly stood up, but then felt something was off: "The jewels earlier were like bubbles. If the gold beneath our feet is also fake, how can we stand on it without it breaking?"
"That's something you need to ask Zhang Qixia," Early Summer said, turning to gesture behind her.
Zhang Qixia awkwardly crawled down, completely naked, followed by Fatty holding a shotgun.
Seeing so much gold, Fatty was ecstatic, flailing his arms and shouting incoherently. But when I mentioned that all of this might be fake, it was as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over him. He froze for a moment, then became furious and kicked Zhang Qixia: "Hurry up and remove these mechanisms."
Zhang Qixia seemed resigned to his fate, pointing at the wall ahead and numbly saying, "There’s a Gold Brick on that wall. Pry it open, and there’s a lever inside that will deactivate these mechanisms."
"Take me there," Fatty pushed Zhang Qixia.
Zhang Qixia stumbled forward a couple of steps and slowly walked to the wall under the threat of Fatty's shotgun, pointing at one of the Gold Bricks: "It's this one."
I moved closer as well and used my dagger to remove the Gold Brick. Sure enough, behind it was a hole, and inside the hole was a handle resembling a car gear shift.
Just as I was about to reach out to pull it, Fatty said, "Ghost Brother, let her do it. There might be high voltage up there."
Thinking about it, I stepped back and nodded at Zhang Qixia, "You go turn off the switch."
Zhang Qixia glanced at me with a strange look, seemingly disdainful of my courage. I didn't care; what were you so proud of? You're still in my hands now.
Slowly extending her hand, Zhang Qixia grabbed the handle, and suddenly a strange smile appeared on her face. Seeing that smile made me feel something was off, and I quickly became alert.
Zhang Qixia yanked the handle hard, and to my surprise, the entire handle came off. At the same time, a transparent organic glass case suddenly descended. By the time I realized what was happening, the case had already enclosed Zhang Qixia inside.
Damn, I never expected Zhang Qixia had this trick up her sleeve.
Inside the glass case, Zhang Qixia looked at me with a cold smile and said, "Go ahead and shoot me again!"
You think I'm afraid? I signaled Fatty and the others to step back, pulled out my shotgun, and fired at the glass case. With a loud bang, the bullet hit the surface of the glass case but bounced back. Luckily, I had already warned everyone to move aside, so no one got hurt from the ricochet.
I leaned closer to examine the glass case. Where the bullet struck, there was only a barely noticeable white mark. I couldn't help but curse; how could my shotgun's power leave just such a weak trace?
"Yay!" Zhang Qixia made a peace sign in front of me with a victorious smile on her face. "Feeling dumb now? Do you regret not killing me back then?"
I ignored her and fired three more shots at the glass case, still with no effect. No longer willing to try, I put away my gun and circled around the glass case to inspect it.
The glass case was about one meter in diameter, perfectly enclosing Zhang Qixia inside. It seemed she had specifically designed this for escape. I couldn't help but sneer and said, "What are you so proud of? You think just because you have bulletproof glass I can't do anything to you?"
Zhang Qixia laughed heartily, looking exceptionally pleased.
"You aren't even wearing clothes, what are you laughing about?" Fatty scolded from the side, turning to me, "Ghost Brother, if you have any ideas, hurry up and share them. I'll take care of the execution!" He then spat at the Glass Case.
When Fatty spat, Zhang Qixia's expression changed slightly before returning to normal.
"We can just lift this Glass Case!" Wen Qianqian shouted from behind.
"Right, this Glass Case just fell from above; it's not welded to the ground," Fatty said. Hearing this, he gave Wen Qianqian a thumbs up and walked over to lift the Glass Case.
However, despite using all his strength, the Glass Case didn't budge at all, while Zhang Qixia behind the Glass Case sneered coldly.
"This method probably won't work," Wen Zhan suddenly pointed at the top of the Glass Case. "It seems there's a horizontal beam stuck above it."
"Then what do you suggest?" Fatty said, frustrated as he released the Glass Case.
"I actually have an idea," Wen Zhan replied with a smile. "This cellar is directly beneath the Training Room. We can go back to the Training Room, pry open the floor above, and dig down. If we don't consider the supporting beams, we can dig down about a meter and break through. Then..." Wen Zhan sneered, "we can just drop a grenade down there."
"Not bad, Wen Zhan's idea is good." Fatty turned and walked out.
I quickly called out to him, and Fatty looked at me in surprise. "What?"
"No need to go up," I pointed at the bottom of the Glass Case and pulled out a Big Iron Pickaxe. I smiled and said, "Although you can't move this Glass Case, why do we need to? We can loosen the Gold Brick and dig a hole from underneath along the Glass Case. Then, heh heh, we can just stuff a grenade inside!"
"Yeah!" Fatty exclaimed joyfully as he snatched the Big Iron Pickaxe from my hands and began prying at the gold bricks around the Glass Case.
"Yay!" I made a peace sign towards Zhang Qixia and said, "What do you think? Am I clever or what?"
Zhang Qixia looked at me with a cold smile, "The plan is good, but unfortunately, you won't live to see that moment."
I laughed heartily, " Cloud Dream Fairy , spare me the tough talk. What else can you do now besides waiting for death?"
"Not necessarily!" Zhang Qixia sneered as she touched her chest, revealing a remote control the size of a lighter.
"Damn, how did I not notice this? I knew she was hiding something in there, but you all didn't believe me!" Fatty suddenly shouted. Wen Qianqian was also stunned, not just her; we were all a bit dazed. How did she hide that remote control in her chest?
Zhang Qixia pressed a few buttons on the remote, and then I saw the gold bars on the walls suddenly detach from the surface and float in the air. The scene was bizarre, even more so than when Mafia's gold chains floated on water.
Then, these gold bars slowly moved toward us. Although they still gleamed brightly, at that moment, I found their golden color exceptionally blinding.
"Damn, is she planning to crush us with money?" Fatty picked up his Shotgun and pulled the trigger. With a loud bang, the gold bars in front of us shattered like foam, and at the same time, liquid splattered out and flew everywhere.
"Watch out! Don't let that liquid touch you!" Early Summer shouted.
"You have no choice!" Zhang Qixia sneered. With a press of the remote, the floating gold bars accelerated toward us, and we instinctively pulled the triggers of our guns.
However, shooting at these bubble-like gold bars filled with liquid was not very effective. The more we shot, the more liquid sprayed out after the bubbles burst. But if we didn't shoot, those gold bars would still crash into us and spill their contents.
Soon enough, we were all drenched in this liquid. The moment it touched us, we were paralyzed and unable to move.
Zhang Qixia, still feeling uneasy, pressed the remote again. The remaining golden bubbles rapidly converged toward the center. With a series of popping sounds, all the bubbles exploded, showering us with that paralyzing liquid. We were soaked like drowned rats. However, this liquid evaporated quickly, leaving an odor reminiscent of mothballs in the air, which soon dissipated.
After feeling around her chest again, Zhang Qixia pulled out another remote control about the size of a car key. This time I clearly saw that she had indeed taken it from her 'pectorals.'
As soon as the remote was pressed, the Glass Case made a sound and shrank back. Zhang Qixia walked out with a smile, circling around us before stopping in front of Wen Qianqian. She took the Submachine Gun from her hands, first pressing the gun against Early Summer's forehead, then turning the barrel towards me, making 'piu, piu, piu' sounds. After a while, she proudly said, "This paralysis powder lasts longer than the effects of the Golden Silver Pavilion's medicine. At least within ten minutes, you won't be able to move. Zhong Zhengnan, if you have any questions, now is the time to ask me."
At that moment, I couldn't think of any questions to ask her. What was there to ask? Wasn't it just that she had turned the tables on us? Using our suspicions to make a complete comeback.
Seeing that we were silent, Zhang Qixia smiled and said, "Since you have no questions, I won't drag this out any longer. I'll send you off to the afterlife."
Hearing this, I quickly shouted, "Wait, wait! I have a question!"
"Oh?" Zhang Qixia lowered the gun and said with a smile, "What question do you have?"
Huh? Isn't that a dialect from Star City? Isn't Zhang Qixia from General Township? How come she speaks Star City dialect so fluently? I was surprised and asked, "How do you speak Star City dialect?"
"There's no need to be surprised. I studied at Star City University for four years," Zhang Qixia said with a smile as she took two steps forward and poked my chest with the bayonet on the Submachine Gun. A sharp pain shot through me as she actually stabbed the bayonet into my flesh.
"If you don't ask a question soon, I'll stab you to death," Zhang Qixia said kindly, as if she were just going to poke chopsticks into a plate of Braised Pork.
