"Is that so?" Wei Ziyi moved her hand up my neck and placed it on my face. "Mr. Zhong, do you wish to join Black Wind Village? And are you willing to help them break the Five Absolute Formation?"
What is this about? They want me to join Black Wind Village and help break the Five Absolute Formation? Why should I? Wei Ziyi walked over and began to poke and prod at the bronze lock. With a click, the lock opened, and she signaled her subordinates to move it aside, revealing a slanted downward passage. The walls of the passage were lit by oil lamps, their flickering shadows creating an atmosphere that felt somewhat deep and eerie even in broad daylight.
Stepping back, Wei Ziyi smiled charmingly at Fang Boda and gestured for him to enter. "Chief, please!"
Fang Boda snorted and took a step forward but then paused. "Wei Clan Leader, once we break the Five Absolute Formation, will you release my son?"
Wei Ziyi's expression turned serious as she spread her right fingers across her chest and then curled her middle finger. "I swear by Canglang God that as long as you break the Five Absolute Formation, I will immediately release Fang Zhan and will never bring this matter up again."
Fang Boda nodded and stepped inside. It seemed that this so-called Canglang God was indeed the deity of the Guk Tribe. Hearing Wei Ziyi's oath, he had no further concerns.
Fang Zhongda and Fang Xiang followed closely behind Fang Boda into the passage. Linzi glanced at me and nodded slightly, indicating for me to go ahead. I looked back at Wei Ziyi once more but found no opportunity to strike her down while avoiding retaliation from the Silver Crown Snake. I could only smile wryly and stepped into the underground passage.
As soon as we entered the passage, Wei Ziyi's laughter echoed behind us: "I will be waiting for your good news here. Someone, close the cover first."
With a clang, the bronze cover was shut, instantly blocking out the sunlight from outside. Then came another clicking sound; it seemed Wei Ziyi had locked the bronze lock as well.
The passage had no traps and was not long—about fifty meters. At the end of the passage was a round large room where we stood at the entrance observing what lay inside.
The floor of the room was covered with stone slabs intricately carved with patterns that emitted a faint blue light. The blue light made the patterns on the slabs even more pronounced; from my angle, they were clearly visible.
The outermost pattern was a ring, within which was an interlaced pentagram. Each corner of the pentagram had a circle about one meter in diameter, while in the very center of the pentagram was a large circle with a diameter of three meters.
The circles at each corner and the central large circle were an unusual shade of blue, resembling seawater. If I guessed correctly, this round room was indeed what they referred to as the Five Absolute Formation, and the central circle was likely its eye.
"Linzi, you should discuss the Five Absolute Formation with Mr. Zhong first..." Fang Boda turned to Linzi.
"Wait a minute." I interrupted Fang Boda directly, "I want to ask you, what kind of fierce beast is trapped here? If we can't kill this beast and it escapes, what will happen?"
A flicker of displeasure crossed Fang Boda's face, but he smiled lightly, "Mr. Zhong, this Ancient Fierce Beast was captured by Flower Gukren a thousand years ago. As you know, back then everyone was using cold weapons. It took immense effort to subdue any slightly fierce animal. So, although it is called a fierce beast, it isn't as formidable as one might imagine. Moreover, times have changed; even if we release this beast, what can it do against guns and cannons?"
Uh, Fang Boda does seem to have a point.

I frowned, "If that's the case, just talk to me directly. Why threaten me with Fatty's life?"
"Who threatened you?" Linzi said calmly.
"What are you pretending for?" I was extremely frustrated. "Fang Xiang is using Fatty's safety to threaten me; didn't you hear? Let me ask you one thing: has Fatty already fallen into Fang Xiang's hands?"
"Whose? Fatty is perfectly fine in my room," Linzi rolled her eyes at me.

"What did I say? I only mentioned your friend Mr. Ding; besides that, what else did I say?" Fang Xiang sneered. "I actually meant that your friend Mr. Ding is doing well and is very safe in Linzi's room."

I had nothing else to say except that word; damn it, I fell for Fang Xiang's trick.
It's all Linzi's fault; why did you look at me apologetically when Fang Xiang said that? You made me think Fatty had been captured by Fang Xiang.
"Since we've come down here, we can only break the Five Absolute Formation to go back up." Linzi glanced at me and seeing that I wasn't panicking, she continued, "Fortunately, breaking the Five Absolute Formation isn't too difficult. We each stand at a corner and simultaneously kick hard at the Circle beneath our feet; the Five Absolute Formation will activate. Once the formation is activated, five Puppets controlled by Black Magic will come out to fight us. If we defeat them, the Five Absolute Formation will be broken and the fierce beast trapped in the center will be released."
"Is it really that simple?" I asked in surprise.

Defeating these Puppets will be quite challenging. Secondly, during the fight, we will be fighting individually and cannot team up to fend off the enemies. "What happens if we leave?" I asked curiously.
"If you leave the Ring, a second Puppet will appear in your direction. Moreover, if you cannot return to the Ring, a new Puppet will emerge approximately every five seconds," Linzi replied solemnly.
"Endless?" I exclaimed in surprise.
"Not exactly endless; there can be a maximum of nine Puppets in each direction," Linzi explained slowly. "One Puppet is already enough for you to handle. If all nine Puppets come out, the consequences would be unimaginable."
"Mr. Zhong, we're not trying to scare you. You must act decisively and show no mercy," Fang Boda said with a serious expression.
Damn, am I crazy? It's just a Puppet, a corpse; what’s there to feel sympathy for? I smiled slightly and said, "Of course."
The five of us then stood at each corner of the Pentagram. Fang Boda shouted "One, two, three!" and all five of us kicked off with force simultaneously.
