Zhong Kui's Diary
I pondered for a while: "According to the definition of Reincarnation, if Fang Zhan is your husband, would you die if he were to die?"
Linzi nodded: "That is a possibility. In the past hundreds of Reincarnations, there have been many times when I suddenly died, which must have been due to something happening to my husband."
"Did that old monk have any other hints?" I asked with a frown.
"He recited a verse before he left."
"What verse?"
"The great way is empty, all laws return to their source, the Yin-Yang physique can connect." Linzi said with a furrowed brow.
"What does this vague talk about Yin and Yang mean?"
"The meaning of the verse is that if one can find a person with a Yin-Yang Physique and have relations with them, it might break this Reincarnation." Linzi explained slowly.
"What do you mean?" I couldn't help but exclaim, then stammered, "Yin... Yin-Yang... Physique?"
"Why are you talking so strangely?" Linzi looked at me suspiciously.
I scratched my head: "Linzi, I want to ask you something, but I'm afraid you'll misunderstand that I have some ulterior motive."
"What do you mean?"
"I am actually the Yin-Yang Physique."
Linzi was taken aback for a moment, then her expression changed dramatically. She grabbed my wrist tightly and shouted, "What did you say?" Her fingers turned slightly white from the force, and my wrist throbbed in pain from her grip.
"I... I am the Yin-Yang Physique," I repeated with a bitter smile.
"Is that true or false?" Linzi's sharp voice had a hint of hoarseness.
"Well, I used to be the Yin-Yang Physique. As for now, during my last battle with Jin Manyuan, my Yin-Yang Energy was completely drained by the Mutual Support Technique. I don't even know if I still count as the Yin-Yang Physique without my Yin-Yang Energy." I touched my nose, feeling a bit embarrassed, as if I were a con artist deceiving others.
"The great way is empty, all laws return to their source, the physique of Yin and Yang can connect..." Linzi murmured those lines, her eyes growing brighter. Suddenly, she pushed me onto the bed with great force and excitedly said, "Since you are the Yin-Yang Physique, then as long as I connect with you once, I can end this Reincarnation."
"Wait, wait! What if I'm not?" I propped myself up.
"I have already borne hundreds of Reincarnation memories. I can't continue living like this. No matter what, I have to try. Mr. Zhong, please help me this once." With that, Linzi pounced on me, her fragrant lips already moving toward mine.
To be honest, with my skills, even if ten Linzis came at me, I could dodge them easily. Moreover, she was severely injured at the moment. Yet, I didn't dodge at all; in fact, I didn't even think about dodging. On one hand, I wanted to know what those lines meant; on the other hand, perhaps it was because Linzi was such a stunning beauty.
How could I refuse something so delightful as having a relationship with an extraordinary beauty? Uh... damn it, I'm supposed to be the protagonist; how could I have such thoughts? Well, mainly it was because Linzi's sudden advance caught me off guard.
Just as Linzi's lips touched mine, everything suddenly went pitch black. In an instant, we were plunged into absolute darkness where nothing could be seen. Faint sounds surrounded us: flowing water, chirping birds, vendors calling out their wares, sounds of battle, singing voices from kvs, and the bubbling sounds of Health Treatment... These sounds appeared like scenes unfolding in a painting as if we were flying over different landscapes.
The sounds seemed endless. My initial curiosity faded into boredom as these noises became waves of sound barriers that drove me crazy.
I wanted to ask Linzi what was happening but found that no sound would come from my mouth. The only sensation was Linzi tightly holding onto me in my embrace. Rather than comforting her, it felt more like I was seeking comfort myself.
I don't know how long it has been, but suddenly a purple light appeared before me. The unexpected brightness made me instinctively close my eyes, yet they still burned painfully. When I finally opened my eyes, I found myself lying on a grassy slope next to Linzi.
Above us was a clear blue sky with a few fluffy white clouds floating by. In front of the grass was a wooden cabin, entirely constructed from logs, exuding an ancient charm. In front of the cabin was a stone table surrounded by four stone stools, one of which was occupied by an old monk with white hair.
What is this? A mirage? Or have I entered Reincarnation along with Linzi? Or has the so-called Reincarnation already ended?
Damn it, what kind of conditions are needed to end Reincarnation? I haven't done anything at all; it's all a scam... Well, that's not the point. The real question is, what the hell is going on? How did we end up in this place? Where is this place? And who is the old monk in front of the cabin?
Just as I was about to ask Linzi, I noticed that upon seeing the old monk, she began to tremble violently, clutching me tightly. A faint gurgling sound came from her throat, clearly a sign of extreme fear.
I patted Linzi's shoulder and was about to ask her why she was so scared when it suddenly dawned on me. I exclaimed in surprise, "Could it be that this old monk is the one who cast you into Reincarnation?"
Linzi responded with a shaky "mm," and even that was intermittent, showing just how frightened she was.
"Don't be afraid; perhaps this Reincarnation has already ended," I said while patting her shoulder and smiling.
Upon hearing this, Linzi seemed to calm down slightly but continued to hold onto me tightly. It was hard for me to imagine that the Linzi who remained unflinching in the face of danger earlier could now be so panicked. Then I realized that after experiencing hundreds of lives in Reincarnation, she must be exceptionally fragile inside. Seeing the culprit behind her Reincarnation had caused her facade of strength to crumble instantly.
"Get up; let's go ask that old monk," I said again while patting her shoulder.
Only then did Linzi release her grip. We both got up, and I brushed off the dust from my clothes. I glanced at the old monk and beckoned for Linzi to follow me as we approached him.
The old monk seemed to have noticed us long ago but remained silent, merely watching us coldly.
"Hey, Stupid Donkey, what's going on here?" Knowing that this monk was responsible for Linzi's fall into countless cycles of Reincarnation, I wasn't going to hold back.
There is one more important thing: I have found the Shotgun in the Mustard Seed Pendant that was messed up by Sugar Doll. With this thing, why should I be polite? Having a gun gives me this kind of confidence.
The old monk glanced at me, the corners of his mouth curling slightly, revealing a hint of mockery: "What does it have to do with you?"
Oh, he really has a personality. I clicked my tongue twice: "How can it not concern me? I'm confused and caught up in this situation, can't I ask you a couple of questions?"
As I spoke, I raised the Shotgun in a show of force.
"Are you planning to threaten me with that thing in your hand?" The old monk looked at the Shotgun in disdain.
"Can’t it threaten you?" I fired a shot at the wooden cabin, and with a bang, a big hole was blasted into the wall: "Are you sure your flesh is tougher than this wall?"
The old monk snorted: "A summer insect cannot speak of ice. Stop wasting breath; if you have guts, shoot me!"
Damn, I can't stand when others act so tough. Without hesitation, I pulled back the slide and chambered a round, aiming directly at the old monk's chest and fired.
The old monk casually extended his hand, moving it slowly in front of him as if swatting away an annoying fly. Yet, with that extremely slow motion, he actually caught the bullet from the Shotgun in his palm.
What the hell? Is he even human? Even monsters aren't this powerful, right? Could he be a half-human?
I continued to chamber rounds and pull the trigger—bang bang bang bang bang bang bang—firing seven shots in total until all the bullets were spent. However, I saw the old monk's hand slowly waving in the air, catching each bullet one by one.
Seeing that I had stopped shooting, the old monk sneered, opened his palm to reveal a handful of bullet heads, looked at me with contempt, tossed one into his mouth, and began to chew loudly. After chewing for about ten times, he stretched his neck and swallowed all the bullets.
"Is that all you've got?" The old monk then looked at me with disdain.
I dejectedly threw the Shotgun into the Mustard Seed Pendant and stopped searching for the Grenade and Rocket Launcher. With his ability to catch bullets using Kung Fu, it seemed that only an atomic bomb could take him down. "Alright, you're impressive. What do you want?"
"Gao Zuyun and Yu Qi provoked my disciple for no reason, leading to my disciple's suicide. That's why I set up Reincarnation to punish them," the old monk said calmly. "Now that Yu Qi has found you, a Yin-Yang Physique, she is lucky. The suffering of Reincarnation will come to a temporary halt."
"What does 'temporary halt' mean?" I frowned.
"What does it mean? It means that I have not yet forgotten the sorrow of my disciple's death, so I can only trouble Yu Qi to experience Reincarnation once more," the old monk sneered.
Hearing this from the old monk, a loud thud came from behind me. Turning around, I saw Linzi had fainted on the ground. I couldn't help but turn back in anger and shout, "Damn it, how can you be so untrustworthy?"
"Have I ever let her go? Even if I did, so what? I won't keep my word; what can you do about it?" The old monk spat at me and said, "Don't think just because you're a Yin-Yang Physique that you're something special. Stop whining in front of me; if you annoy me, do you believe I'll send you into Reincarnation too?"
"Shut up!" I charged forward and swung my fist at the old monk's bald head. I didn't expect to hurt him; this punch was purely to vent my anger.
