Zhong Kui's Diary
"You just don't understand. Although killing an Exploding Bug only gives you 100 experience, as your level increases, you can kill higher-level monsters to gain more Experience Points. For example, our Ironclaw Zombie gives you 1000 Experience Points for each kill. Once you reach around level ten, you can look for the Sand Wyrm Man, which gives you 00 Experience Points per kill. Additionally, there's the One-Eyed Serpent Man that grants 10,000 Experience Points, the Spider Spirit with 0000 Experience Points, and the Corpse Demon with 000 Experience Points. Oh, and there's also the Reverse Asura that gives you 0 million Experience Points." The Ironclaw Zombie counted on its iron claws.
"0 million? Tsk tsk, is the Reverse Asura easy to kill?" I suddenly became very interested.
The Ironclaw Zombie glanced at me sideways and shook its head with a grin. "Unless you reach level 40, your Devouring Energy won't even be able to harm it."
"Then where is Fogwind Valley?" I asked with a wry smile.
"Just beyond this forest is Fogwind Valley." The Ironclaw Zombie crossed its arms, producing a sound of clashing metal. "Alright, I've done my part as a hidden NPC; now I must fulfill my duties as a monster. Brothers, let's charge together!"
Suddenly, the Ironclaw Zombies behind me lunged forward. I cursed loudly and dodged the claw strike from the first Ironclaw Zombie while activating my Devouring Energy. I punched it in the face, and to my surprise, this Ironclaw Zombie didn't disintegrate like the Exploding Bug but was instead knocked back three meters, crashing into two other Zombies before getting back up and charging at me again.
Damn it, isn't Devouring Energy supposed to take care of this? Why is this Zombie still fine?
I didn't have time to think too much as those Zombies rushed at me one after another. I was momentarily flustered until Linzi noticed the situation and controlled three giants wielding large wooden clubs to join the fray, knocking several Zombies away, allowing me to catch my breath.
The previously knocked-back Ironclaw Zombie charged at me again. I kicked it in the chest once more, and this time it turned into smoke instantly, displaying a set of red numbers—11/10 (5).
I suddenly understood; it was just like playing an online game—monsters have health bars too. Only when the accumulated damage completely depletes a monster's health will it be destroyed. Looking over at another Ironclaw Zombie nearby, sure enough, there was a health bar above its head showing 7000/0000. This meant that each punch I dealt caused 1000 damage; it would take two punches to destroy one Zombie.
Now that I understood how it worked, my confidence surged. I began to eliminate these Ironclaw Zombies one by one with punches and kicks. Although Linzi's three giants could block the Ironclaw Zombies' attacks and relieve some pressure for me, they couldn't destroy them. Just as Ten Directions Monk said, this game was designed specifically for me to enhance my abilities; only I could shatter them.
After taking care of about twenty Ironclaw Zombies, my Devouring Energy level increased to level 10. It was only then that I felt a significant boost in my internal Devouring Energy.
We continued forward; the next monsters seemed endless. In just a few hundred meters, I killed wave after wave of monsters: Sand Wyrm Men, Blade Arm Zombies, One-Eyed Serpent Men, Spider Spirits, Corpse Demons...
Although I knew that the stronger my Devouring Energy became, the closer the time would be for the Ten Directions Monk to deal with me, I still worked hard to enhance my energy. I held onto a glimmer of hope that if my Devouring Energy reached a certain level, I might be able to defeat the Ten Directions Monk on the spot.
After shattering a large wave of Corpse Demons, my Devouring Energy finally reached level 0. Before I could celebrate, a monster appeared before us, covered in blood-red armor and wielding a dark red long knife in each hand.
Upon closer inspection, this monster was not entirely blood-red; it wore blood-red armor and had a purple-gold crown atop its head, with two long pheasant feathers swaying back and forth. It looked somewhat like Lu Bu from Peking Opera, but it was far uglier than Lu Bu because beneath that blood-red armor was nothing but a white skeletal frame.
What was frustrating was that the blood bar above its head displayed 000000/000000, meaning this guy had an astonishing fifty million health points. Damn, I was only at level 0 with an attack power of just one hundred thousand. Even if he stood still and let me hit him on the ground, it would take me five hundred punches to kill him.
Ten Directions Monk, where the hell are you? Do you believe I could write a romantic story with your sister?
Cursing inwardly, I tentatively asked, "Hey, what kind of monster are you?"
The figure in blood-red armor coldly replied, "I am the Reverse Asura."
Hearing that he was the Reverse Asura filled me with joy; it felt as if I were looking at not a menacing monster but a string of Experience Points. If I could defeat this thing, surely I could level up multiple times!
Ignoring the fact that the Ironclaw Zombie required level 40 to harm the Reverse Asura and that it would take five hundred hits to take him down, I charged forward without hesitation and threw a punch at the Reverse Asura's chest.
The Reverse Asura's gaze was icy. It wasn't until my punch was about to connect with its chest that it casually kicked toward me. The kick seemed incredibly slow but arrived before my fist could reach its target. My punch hadn’t even hit its chest when that kick struck my abdomen.
I flew backward like a kite, propelled over ten meters before crashing to the ground. Strangely enough, I felt no pain; it was as if I hadn't been kicked at all but rather was acting in a movie, being pulled around by steel wires.
Linzi shouted loudly, "Zheng Nan, are you okay?" At the same time, she directed three giants under her command to rush toward the Reverse Asura to engage in battle.
I got up and looked around to confirm that I had no injuries. Scratching my head, I walked back to Linzi's side and said, "That's strange; getting kicked so far and I'm completely fine."
At this moment, the three giants summoned by Linzi had been reduced to ashes by Reverse Asura. Reverse Asura did not pursue further; it simply stood there, coldly watching us.
Linzi's expression was somewhat grim, and I asked, "What's wrong?"
"Normally, even if the Puppets are turned to ashes, they should be able to reassemble under my mental control. However, I can't feel any connection with them now, which means these Puppets have entered absolute death," Linzi said solemnly.
"Perhaps it's related to the setting of this Reincarnation," I frowned and replied.
Linzi nodded and summoned four more giants, but they were also quickly turned to ashes by Reverse Asura.
I pondered for a moment and stopped Linzi from summoning more giants. I took out my shotgun and walked in front of Reverse Asura, firing several shots in quick succession until I had emptied the magazine. As I expected, the bullets struck Reverse Asura as if they were stones hitting the surface of water, creating only a few ripples without causing any damage.
I casually tossed the shotgun into the Mustard Seed Pendant and sighed, "My brother Shura, don't you know that this Reincarnation exists solely to enhance my cultivation? How can I level up quickly when you're so powerful?"
Reverse Asura remained silent, merely gazing at me coldly.
"Do you have a favorite sister Zombie? I could help you catch a few," I decided to change my strategy, hoping to appeal to it with beauty—this is called enticing with allure.
Reverse Asura looked at me coldly and slowly shook its head.
"Do you like gold?" I pulled out a gold brick; this is called enticing with profit.
Reverse Asura shook its head again.
"Actually, I plan to kill the Lion Knight Guardian. Once it's gone, you'll be the boss of this era. Don't you want a life of unifying the world for thousands of years?" This is called enticing with power.
Reverse Asura continued to shake his head.
Wah wah...
Shaking his head...
Bala bala...
Shaking his head...
No matter how dry my mouth became, Reverse Asura just shook his head. Eventually, I became a bit annoyed and said, "Damn it, neither left nor right, what do you want?"
Reverse Asura coldly replied, "Are you really eager to kill me?"
"Is that even a question? I'm itching to do it," I said in frustration. "But you're not cooperating at all."
"I can drop my defenses and let you kill me," Reverse Asura said something that surprised me, then continued, "But I have one condition."
I knew there wouldn't be such an easy deal; I just didn't know what the condition was. Smirking, I asked, "What condition?"
"There’s a question I’ve always found puzzling. If you can resolve my doubts, I’ll let you beat me to death," Reverse Asura said slowly.
"You, you..." I hurriedly responded.
"Three apples need to be placed into two Plates, with only one apple allowed per Plate. How can this be done?" Reverse Asura posed the question.
Upon hearing this, my mind immediately started racing. Three apples need to go into two Plates. What if I cut one apple in half and placed each half on a Plate? Uh, that doesn't seem right; only one can go on each side.
Suddenly, an idea struck me. This is simple! I smiled and said, "Place one Plate flat and stack the apples like a Pagoda inside it, then turn the other Plate upside down to cover the apple Pagoda. This way, all three apples are in the two Plates, and each Plate only touches one apple."
Reverse Asura sneered, "One Plate can only hold one apple. If you do it that way, the bottom Plate effectively has three apples in it."
Uh, that's true. I frowned and thought for a while before saying, "First, place one apple in each Plate, then hang the third apple with a string above the Plate."
Reverse Asura scoffed, "In that case, the third apple is just hanging in mid-air; it hasn't been placed inside a Plate. Did you even listen to the question? I said all three apples must be placed inside the Plates. Does hanging it count as putting it inside? … Come on, can you be less superficial? If it were that simple, would I have been confused for so long? Are you even capable?"
Damn, don't you know that questioning a man's capability is an insult?
