Zhong Kui's Diary
After a moment of confusion, I lightly coughed and said, "Regardless of your relationship with the Ten Directions Monk, it is a fact that you sent someone to kill Chili, right?"
Long Zhengyang still shook his head in bewilderment. "Zheng Nan, I really don't know what you're talking about. What Chili?"
I immediately became angry. "You must know Wang Bingbing, right?"
A strange expression appeared on Long Zhengyang's face. "Yes, I know her."
"Did you not threaten her to use the Child Ghost Statue to get my attention? Huh? Did you not instruct her to lead us to Daihei Mountain? Huh? Did you not call her and order her to kill Chili? Huh?" With each question, I added a 'Huh?' at the end. My language teacher, an excellent physical education teacher and the runner-up in the eighth Teacher Singing Competition in Star City, once told me that this kind of rhetorical questioning is the most powerful.
Long Zhengyang slowly shook his head. "I have no idea about any of this."
"Long Zhengyang!" I exploded in anger, pointing at him and shouting, "Are you really going to play dumb?"
The Lean Man suddenly stepped in front of Long Zhengyang, his eyes sharp as if he were a leopard that had spotted its prey, ready to pounce and tear me apart.
I raised an Index Finger and contemptuously shook it at the Lean Man. "You are not my match."
The Lean Man neither got angry nor made a move; he simply stood in front of Long Zhengyang, seemingly waiting for me to attack first so he could counterattack.
Long Zhengyang reached out and patted the Lean Man's shoulder. "Long Wu, step back for now."
Long Wu glanced at me before stepping aside while maintaining a high level of vigilance.
"Zheng Nan, there seems to be some misunderstanding between us," Long Zhengyang said with a smile. "However, we can clarify things face to face and clear up any misunderstandings."
I snorted. "Then hurry up and clarify."
"Let me put it this way, my grandfather was one of Huang Lao's personal bodyguards back in the day, and he was known as Huang Lao's right-hand man. It was Tang the Elder who informed me to leave Star City," Long Zhengyang smiled.
Tang the Elder?
How did he know I was coming to Purple Bamboo Villa to deal with Long Zhengyang?
Then it hit me. Initially, I had asked Lingfeng Gang to investigate whether Long Zhengyang had left Star City, but Lingfeng went to find Tang Zian. Since Tang Zian knew about this, it was natural that Tang the Elder would also be aware. It seemed that out of consideration for an old friend, Tang the Elder had reminded Long Zhengyang to leave Star City quickly.
Understanding this, I nodded slightly: "So you are part of Huang Lao's faction. It seems you've been thriving in the entertainment industry, benefiting from Huang Lao's influence."
A hint of a bitter smile crossed Long Zhengyang's face: "To some extent, that's true, but more importantly, my success is due to my own hard work and making connections. In the chaotic entertainment industry, being at the top requires effort. To put it bluntly, if I want to make someone famous or ruin someone, it's just a matter of saying the word."
"Wang Bingbing is one you made famous, right?" I scoffed. "After she became popular, she turned into your money-making tool, didn't she?"
"Zheng Nan, I'm a businessman. Once I make an artist famous, she naturally has to earn money for me. That's the rule of business. When I made Wang Bingbing famous three years ago, we signed an agreement stating she must work for my company for five years. Of course, it's not without compensation; she gets salary, bonuses, and shares."
"Including sleeping with you?" I snorted.
"Have you ever experienced Health Treatment?" Long Zhengyang smiled slightly.
"What does that have to do with us now?"
Long Zhengyang chuckled: "In our eyes, people like Wang Bingbing are no different from the girls in Health Treatment. If there is a difference, their skills might even be inferior to those of the Health Treatment girls. Moreover, after having relations with a Health Treatment girl, it's a straightforward transaction; they won't cling to you afterward. But with them, it's different—after sleeping with them, they will definitely come asking for things."
After a pause, Long Zhengyang continued: "As for Wang Bingbing, she is even... even..." He seemed to be searching for the right phrase and repeated "even" several times before finally settling on one: "She is even more deranged."
"More deranged?" I was somewhat surprised and thought to myself that this choice of words was quite exaggerated and absurd.
"That's right, it's utterly insane. She can come up with all sorts of excuses to get reimbursed. Take beauty treatments for example; while others might just get a spa and apply some essential oils, she insists on using Honey, and it has to be the purest kind, costing hundreds of dollars per pound. She uses over a hundred pounds for a single bath. While others might spend ten or twenty thousand on a computer, her solid-state drive alone costs around ten thousand..."
I clicked my tongue in disbelief; it really was quite outrageous.
"Over the course of a year, she earns me ten million, and I end up spending nine million on her. Fine, I can just about tolerate that since I still make a million profit. But in recent months, she seems to have gotten involved with some shady practices—like curses and ghost raising—to threaten me into making her an international superstar. This has pushed me to my limits. I've thought about confronting her, but I'm wary of those bizarre tactics, so I had no choice but to seek help from someone knowledgeable. This time I came to Star City not only to visit Tang the Elder but also to ask him to contact you and see if there's any way to help me break free from Wang Bingbing's entanglement."
I was almost stunned; the version coming from Long Zhengyang was completely different from what Wang Bingbing had said. How was I supposed to know who was lying?
"Zheng Nan, I know you're suspicious of me, but you can call Tang the Elder," Long Zhengyang said calmly as he looked at me.
That made sense, so I immediately called Tang the Elder. He readily admitted that there was indeed something going on and mentioned that he was preparing to find an opportunity to explain things to me due to a previous misunderstanding involving his old comrade's grandson. Now that I called, it was perfect timing; he insisted that I must help.
I hung up with a wry smile; it seemed there was no need to doubt Long Zhengyang's identity anymore. However, I still couldn't shake my suspicion of him—who knew if he had deceived Tang the Elder?
Long Zhengyang seemed to sense my thoughts and smiled slightly: "I have a simple method that can reveal the truth."
"Really?" I looked at Long Zhengyang skeptically.
He smiled faintly and turned to his followers: "You all go wait at Tang the Elder's house for me. No matter what happens before I return, you must not act rashly."
Lean Man and Long Wu hesitated for a moment; concern flashed across their faces as they opened their mouths to speak.
Long Zhengyang waved his hand: "With Zheng Nan here, who could possibly harm me?"
Nodding slightly, Long Wu and the other followers turned and walked out of the gates of Purple Bamboo Villa.
"What exactly do you want from me?" I asked, eyeing Long Zhengyang.
Long Zhengyang leaned in close to my ear and shared his plan. After listening, I let out a sneer, "You fool, who do you think you are? You think you can do whatever you want? I'd rather kill a thousand innocents than let one guilty person go. To be honest, your biggest mistake was sending your men away."
With that, I punched Long Zhengyang in the forehead, and he immediately collapsed to the ground. I pulled a dagger from my pocket and stabbed him several times in the chest before taking out my phone to snap a picture. Then I called Wang Bingbing.
Once the call connected, Wang Bingbing anxiously asked, "What’s going on?"
"Add me on WeChat; I’ll show you a photo."
After hanging up, I quickly received a request from someone with the username 'bb'. Once accepted, I sent over the photo. A moment later, my phone rang, and Wang Bingbing cheerfully said, "Thank you, Ghost Brother! Hurry to my room; I want to thank you in person."
"Okay, I'll be there soon," I replied with a smile. "After killing someone, it's definitely time to relax."
Wang Bingbing giggled playfully, "I promise to help you relax completely."
Thirty minutes later, Sugar Doll and I arrived at Wang Bingbing's door. I knocked, and she pulled me inside, closing the door behind us. She glanced at Sugar Doll and said with a smile, "Ghost Brother, what did you bring her here for?"
"Just to show her the world," I replied with a grin.
As Wang Bingbing began to undress, she playfully laughed, "Alright then, let her see the world. Ghost Brother, I won't say thank you; let's just say I'll repay you in kind first."
I chuckled and stopped her movements. "Hold on; I prefer when three people play together."
Wang Bingbing shot me a teasing glance. "I knew you’ve had your eye on Zhao Bingbing for a long time. Just think about it—playing with the most famous singer and actress today; isn't that exciting?"
"She's not mine!" I shook my head.
"Are you planning to go with that dead Fatty?" Wang Bingbing laughed. "You two really are close brothers; even now you haven't forgotten him. Well, I don't mind."
"My one isn't him either." I shook my head again.
"Ghost Brother, could it be this mutt?" Wang Bingbing pointed in surprise at Sugar Doll, who was panting with its tongue out and wagging its tail furiously. "Even if you want to play human/animal, can this dog be of any use?"
Sugar Doll immediately barked twice, which made Wang Bingbing giggle uncontrollably.
"Damn, of course not!" I stood up and walked to the door. "Stop guessing; he should have arrived by now."
With that, I opened the door to find Long Zhengyang standing outside, looking at Wang Bingbing with a half-smile.
Upon seeing Long Zhengyang, Wang Bingbing screamed, "How are you not dead?" She then turned to me and shouted angrily, "Zhong Zhengnan, what's going on? Why is he not dead?"
I shrugged my shoulders with an innocent expression. "I don't know either. Hey, Long, how come you're not dead?"
Long Zhengyang smiled and slowly walked into the room. "Wang Bingbing, you used ghost-raising techniques to threaten me and then framed me for a bunch of nonsense, provoking Zheng Nan to trouble me, even wanting him to kill me. What exactly do you mean by all this?"
Wang Bingbing's gaze quickly turned cold as she sneered. "Zhong Zhengnan, I initially thought highly of you and considered using you in the future. I didn't expect you to collude with Long Zhengyang to deceive me. Don't blame me for being ruthless; neither of you will leave today. Next year on this day will be your memorial."
