Duan Huan lifted Huo Feng and Duan Chongyang with his own Origin Force, flying northward with them.
Without exerting himself, Huo Feng was indeed carried along; he didn't know what had happened to Bing, but he didn't wait for him. He could see the greedy look in Duan Huan's eyes when he transformed, and he didn't want Bing to be forcibly taken away as well. At that moment, Huo Feng was eager to leave quickly, hoping to leave a safe place for Bing to teleport.
Duan Huan moved swiftly, and in just a few breaths, he brought Huo Feng and Duan Chongyang out of the barren rocky area. Before them stood a towering mountain, its peak hidden from view, only lush trees visible below. At this point, Duan Huan paused in mid-air and said to Huo Feng and Duan Chongyang: "Get ready. I will take you over this mountain shortly; this is the fastest route to Xiaoyao Fortress. Focus and don’t move around too much. Stay calm, as there are many Flying Beasts at the top of this mountain, including some at the Calamity Pulse Realm, most of which are at a high level in the Vein Realm."
Upon hearing this, both of them became tense. The strongest they had encountered were three Snow Giants on the other side of the Teleportation Array, which were only at the Elementary Earth Vein level; yet those three had given them quite a bit of trouble.
"Are you ready? We're about to set off," Duan Huan asked after a brief pause.
"I'm ready," Huo Feng replied calmly.
As for Duan Chongyang, who had been high and mighty in the Azure Calamity Nation, felt utterly intimidated here. He swallowed hard and said, "I'm good too."
With a whoosh, Duan Huan took off with them like a streak of light toward the mountain.
In an instant, they reached the air above the mountain peak. Immediately, Huo Feng saw several unknown Flying Beasts circling around them—some large enough to be four or five meters long while others were only as big as a fist. However, they all moved in groups. Despite their size, these Flying Beasts exuded an aura far stronger than that of Huo Feng, with some even having multiple pairs of wings.
Sensing unfamiliar presences, these beasts quickly approached Huo Feng and the others. However, upon detecting the initial aura of Duan Huan, who was at the Calamity Pulse Realm Oblivion Tempest, they hesitated to attack recklessly, merely circling around them while various beastly cries filled the air, sending chills down Huo Feng's spine.
At that moment, Duan Huan suddenly raised his voice: "This is bad! Two initial-level Calamity Pulse Realm Oblivion Tempest Flying Beasts have spotted us! Do not lose focus or entertain any distractions; otherwise, I won't be able to carry you both safely. You could end up as their next meal."
The presence of those high-level beasts already terrified Huo Feng, and now hearing about two initial-level Oblivion Tempest beasts made their skin crawl. Nevertheless, Huo Feng remained resolute; following Duan Huan's advice, he immediately closed his eyes and focused on calming his mind.
In such circumstances, Duan Chongyang also dared not slack off. Although frightened, he had lived for many years and was once the strongest in the Azure Calamity Nation. He quickly regained his composure.
At that moment, Huo Feng felt an overwhelming surge of surrounding Origin Force. In an instant, he felt as if he had completely merged with Duan Huan. The yellow currents of their combined Origin Force enveloped them as Duan Huan's speed increased dramatically. The surroundings blurred into green barriers due to their incredible speed.
Suddenly behind them came two terrifying presences; two purple four-legged beasts charged toward them rapidly. With their massive purple wings flapping once, they covered several miles in an instant. At that moment, there was nothing for Huo Feng and his companions to do but nervously pray that Duan Huan could lead them out of this terrifying place.
Feeling the alarming presence behind him, Duan Huan knew that if it were just him alone, he could easily escape. However, carrying two people made it noticeably more challenging as the beasts drew closer. Realizing they couldn't escape like this, he decisively dove downward toward the ground since they had already flown past the mountain peak for some distance.
The two beasts did not expect that Duan Huan would suddenly change direction and flew right over them; however, they quickly adjusted their course and pursued downward.
Once on the ground, Duan Huan shot a green orb into the sky. The orb exploded upon reaching a certain height, emitting a dazzling light.
They realized they were in big trouble this time and quickly stood beside Duan Huan, fully focused. At that moment, Duan Huan said solemnly, "You all need to take care of yourselves. Make sure to hold on until help arrives. I will do my best to hold off those two Purple Beasts."
Duan Chongyang suddenly felt hopeless and didn't know what to do, while Huo Feng desperately thought about how to endure until help arrived, knowing that most of the other magical beasts were also high-level beings in the Vein Realm.
Just as Duan Huan was explaining things to them, the two Purple Beasts landed in front of them. As soon as they touched the ground, they charged at them without hesitation, flapping their enormous wings fiercely.
The air around them was stirred by the massive wings, creating tornadoes over ten meters high that rushed toward them. Duan Huan waved his hand and said, "You all quickly retreat."
At the same time, he brought his palms together, and a burst of yellow light erupted from his hands, illuminating the entire forest. He then spread his hands apart and pushed toward the tornadoes.
"Great Luo Annihilation Palm!"
Giant yellow palm prints flew toward the tornadoes, instantly dispersing them. Meanwhile, the two Purple Beasts approached Duan Huan, their hooves spreading apart to reveal claws over a foot long, glistening with an eerie purple hue that seemed to secrete a thick purple liquid. Seeing this made Huo Feng's heart race; it was clear that liquid was highly toxic.
Duan Huan knew this too and dared not confront them head-on. He swiftly retreated while unleashing yellow Origin Force from his body, which coiled around his limbs in spirals.
"Annihilation of Life and Death Realm!"
The spirals of colored Origin Force emitted fine rays of light, connecting completely to form a glowing defensive barrier around Duan Huan.
Seeing that Duan Huan had dodged, the two Purple Beasts raised their claws again and charged forward. Their wings opened wide, releasing countless purple feathers that shot toward Duan Huan, each dripping with purple liquid.
However, as soon as those purple feathers touched Duan Huan's Annihilation of Life and Death Realm, they disintegrated into powder and vanished into thin air. Yet the toxic liquid could not be obliterated; instead, it seeped into Duan Huan's Annihilation of Life and Death Realm.
Duan Huan was startled; he hadn't expected the toxin to be so potent. He tried to shake it off with Origin Force but it was futile. The toxic liquid quickly penetrated his clothing, causing it to corrode and tear apart.
At that moment, the two Purple Beasts were already closing in. Duan Huan felt anxious; facing two magical beasts of similar strength was indeed challenging. If it weren't for needing Huo Feng's special abilities, he would never take such a risk. Now he had no choice but to retreat rapidly as the toxin reached his skin, leaving some purple spots on it.
Suddenly, yellow light shone from Duan Huan's skin, preventing any remaining toxin from entering further. The purple spots that had penetrated his skin were also suppressed by the yellow Origin Force for the time being.
While Duan Huan fought against the two Purple Beasts, several Vein Realm magical beasts had already surrounded them. However, since both he and the beasts were strong members of Oblivion Tempest, they dared not act recklessly. Just then, one greedy beast couldn't resist charging out, wanting to quickly eliminate Huo Feng and Duan Chongyang.
Huo Feng and the others remained vigilant while nervously watching this terrifying battle. At that moment, a green Green Python Lizard appeared before them.
This Green Python Lizard was about ten meters long with a lizard-like body but had a tail like a giant python that swung powerfully behind it. Its body was covered in green scales.
As soon as it arrived in front of Huo Feng and Duan Chongyang, it flicked its long tongue out and opened its mouth wide to reveal long fangs. It stopped ten yards away from Huo Feng while its massive tail swung violently.
In an instant, the green giant tail swept through, shattering trees and boulders with incredible speed. Huo Feng had no time to think and immediately activated his silver-white light to move away.
“Meteoric Steps”
With two quick steps, he dodged the sweep of the Green Python Lizard. However, Duan Chongyang was not so lucky; lacking such speed, he could only endure the blow and was sent flying, spitting blood as he fell to the ground, blood seeping from his mouth and nose, defeated.
Huo Feng knew that even if he used Meteoric Steps, he would not escape; after all, it had a limited number of uses. It was better to save it for survival in battle. With this thought in mind, Huo Feng immediately transformed into the body of the Golden Wyvern, while Eight Orchids rose around him.
Once Huo Feng transformed into the Golden Wyvern, the wild aura caused all magical beasts to pause, even the two strongest Purple Beasts stopped their movements.
At that moment, Duan Huan realized something was wrong. Although they feared the dragon race, they would not let such a weak dragon go; after all, magical beasts were greedy. Consuming Huo Feng's body would undoubtedly aid their future breakthroughs.
Sure enough, the two Purple Beasts abandoned Duan Huan and charged wildly toward Huo Feng. Duan Huan could only do his best to stop them, shouting, “Beasts! I’m still here; you must get past me first!”
As Duan Huan’s injured Origin Force glowed and surged forward, he quickly grabbed the tails of the two Purple Beasts. The Purple Beasts were solely focused on Huo Feng’s body and had no intention of fighting Duan Huan. They swung their tails while desperately trying to move toward Huo Feng; however, with Duan Huan holding onto their tails, their speed was severely hindered.
At this moment, Huo Feng also realized he had made a mistake. But it was too late for regrets; magical beasts hiding in the forest began to emerge one after another, drooling as they closed in on Huo Feng step by step.
