Ye Chuanze set foot on Buzhou Mountain and glanced around, feeling guilty. He and Nüwa had gone out to do something bad while carrying Fuxi, and he could never face Fuxi with a clear conscience. Unlike Nüwa, who felt no remorse for deceiving Fuxi, Ye Chuanze believed that what Nüwa was doing was not what Fuxi wanted to see. The things Nüwa fought for were not necessarily what Fuxi desired. Nüwa thought she should compete for the Primordial Purple Qi for Fuxi, but she never asked him if he wanted it. Both Fuxi and Nüwa cared deeply for each other, but they never expressed their true feelings. Nüwa fought for the Primordial Purple Qi while Fuxi worried about Nüwa's safety and did not want her to take risks. This lack of communication led to their current predicament.
Ye Chuanze understood the conflict between them well. He knew that Fuxi did not want Nüwa to take risks, yet he still accompanied her to seize the Primordial Purple Qi from Red Cloud. He did this because he knew that even if he did not help Nüwa, she would go into the treasure hunt alone. Unable to stop her, he decided to accompany her so that he could assist her in times of danger.
"Ah!" Ye Chuanze sighed deeply, feeling a headache coming on.
He wondered how Nüwa and Fuxi were doing now but lacked the courage to confront them directly. Thus, he shamefully returned home and pretended to be dead. "A dead friend is better than a poor one," he thought. "Nüwa, may you rest in peace! I will remember you."
Back at Yunze Cave, Ye Chuanze took out the Four Spirit Gourd containing Red Cloud's Primordial Spirit and spoke to the gourd, "Red Cloud, are you doing well in there?"
"Given my current state, what could be worse?" Red Cloud replied.
Upon hearing this, Ye Chuanze comforted him, "Don't think too much; there is always a way out. Since you have survived, everything is possible. The future is unpredictable; everything will be fine!"
Red Cloud remained silent for a long time before finally sighing and saying, "Thank you for your great kindness, but I am now unable to repay it."
Ye Chuanze chuckled lightly and said, "I am friends with Zhen Yuanzi. Since you are a friend of Zhen Yuanzi, you are also my friend. As friends, there is no need for such formality." After a pause, he added, "It is enough that you do not hold a grudge against me for threatening you earlier and trying to take your Primordial Purple Qi."
"Rest assured, Mr. Ye; I am not unreasonable. You did not harm me; instead, you saved my life in the end. How could I bear a grudge against you?" Red Cloud paused briefly before sighing again and continuing, "I overestimated myself by thinking that the Primordial Purple Qi was a gift from the Dao Ancestor. Little did I know it would bring me danger instead. I cannot understand why Di Jun, Kunpeng, and Minghe Old Ancestor would target me as well. They already possess the Primordial Purple Qi."
Red Cloud's words avoided mentioning Nüwa and the Three Pure Ones, clearly considering Ye Chuanze's feelings. Ye Chuanze understood his good intentions and smiled as he said, "Do you remember that day at Purple Cloud Palace when you gave the Lotus Platform representing the Saint Position to Zhun Ti?"
"Of course I remember." It was precisely because of this that he missed out on the Sage position; Red Cloud had regretted it many times since then.
Ye Chuanze continued, "By giving the Lotus Platform to Zhun Ti back then, you likely created a Karma bond with him. Zhun Ti owes you for your generosity in relinquishing your position. This Karma from giving up the Saint Position is not easily repaid!"
Red Cloud fell silent upon hearing this and remained quiet for a long time.
"Furthermore, no one would ever complain about having more treasures like the Primordial Purple Qi. Zhun Ti and Jieyin are fighting to seize the Primordial Purple Qi from you; even if they can't use it themselves, they can keep it for their disciples in the future. With three Saints in one sect, both master and disciples would be Sages, how glorious that would be!" Ye Chuanze said.
"I never expected that my moment of kindness back then would lead to this disaster. Zhun Ti... Zhun Ti, truly ungrateful! Such a wolf in sheep's clothing!" Red Cloud gritted his teeth, filled with resentment.
Ye Chuanze remained silent; Red Cloud's words were somewhat misguided. Zhun Ti might indeed have ill intentions, but it wasn't as dire as Red Cloud suggested. At that time, when Red Cloud was down, everyone pushed him further; Zhun Ti was merely one among many, and Ye Chuanze was also part of that crowd. Zhun Ti might have intended to use others to eliminate Red Cloud, allowing him to avoid repaying the Karma he owed. However, even without that Karma, Zhun Ti wouldn't necessarily let Red Cloud off the hook. The situation back then indicated that both Zhun Ti and Jieyin were determined to obtain the Primordial Purple Qi, likely hoping to produce a third Sage in the West.
The vastness of the Primordial realm is divided into East and West; the East is prosperous while the West is barren. The Easterners are blessed with talent and resources, whereas the West is desolate with sparse population. Zhun Ti and Jieyin traveled thousands of miles from the West to the East, drawn by the allure of its wealth.
" Mr. Ye..." Red Cloud called out, saying, "Do you harbor any resentment? You are a direct disciple of Dao Ancestor, yet he did not entrust you with the Primordial Purple Qi."
"What is there to resent?" Ye Chuanze replied nonchalantly. "Everyone has their own way of living; some are destined to become Saints while others can live well without becoming one. Why must everyone strive for sainthood? There are countless Dao Laws; becoming a Saint is just one path among many. Why do we all insist on crowding onto this single path? Why not forge our own way?"
From the very beginning, Ye Chuanze knew he could not become a Saint; thus, he never had any expectations regarding the Saint Position. Without expectations, there can be no disappointment or resentment. Many immortals felt it was unfair for Dao Ancestor not to treat Ye Chuanze better. Only Ye Chuanze understood that Hongjun had treated him very well. The things Hongjun did for him, both openly and secretly, were debts he could never repay in his lifetime. Just considering how Hongjun guided him towards enlightenment and helped him transform was already an insurmountable favor.
Red Cloud fell silent for a long time, seemingly enlightened. After a while, he sighed deeply and said, " Mr. Ye, such grace and perspective! I cannot compare to you."
Ye Chuanze merely chuckled at this remark; in this Chess Game over the Primordial Purple Qi for attaining sainthood, he was merely an outsider drawn into the fray because of Nüwa. Even so, he saw things more clearly than those involved in the game. It wasn't that he had great grace; rather, he had always been an outsider. Those involved are often confused while bystanders see clearly.
"You should stay inside my Four Spirit Gourd for now. I have sent someone to find Zhen Yuanzi and inform him of your situation. Once Zhen Yuanzi returns, we will discuss your matters further; for now, you will have to endure for a while," Ye Chuanze said.
"What do you mean by endure? Right now, I am fortunate just to be alive; everything else is inconsequential," Red Cloud replied.
Ye Chuanze raised an eyebrow at this; it seemed Red Cloud had become wiser? He appeared much more astute than before when he was reckless and impulsive. Could it be that experiencing life-and-death tribulations had led him to profound enlightenment?
He placed the Four Spirit Gourd in the Meditation Room and turned to leave the house, returning to his quarters.
*********
If there was one person Ye Chuanze least wanted to see right now, it would undoubtedly be Fuxi. Yet often it happens that the more you wish to avoid someone, the more likely they are to appear. Wasn't that exactly what was happening now? The person standing before him with a slightly cold expression was none other than Fuxi?
After a fierce battle during the day, Ye Chuanze had several injuries on his body, his clothes stained with blood and sweat, making him feel quite uncomfortable. He had someone prepare water for him to wash up and changed into a light blue garment. As he stepped out of the side hall and walked back to his room, he noticed a figure standing at the end of the corridor.
The winding corridor was narrow and deep, with silver moonlight casting a faint glow. In the corner, a few hanging orchids bloomed under the moonlight. Ye Chuanze stood in the corridor, his gaze fixed on the figure ahead, unable to see the person's face in the dim light.
"Fuxi?" Ye Chuanze called out tentatively.
The person turned around to look at him and replied, "My friend."
Hearing this, Ye Chuanze sighed in relief and said, "Why are you here so late? You didn't even have someone announce your arrival."
"Did I disturb you?" Fuxi asked.
Ye Chuanze shook his head and replied, "No, just a bit surprised."
"Ye Chuanze, walk with me," Fuxi said, his tone calm and different from usual.
At that moment, Ye Chuanze noticed Fuxi's unusual demeanor but didn't ask anything. He simply said, "Alright."
Fuxi stood still while Ye Chuanze quietly approached him, closing the distance step by step. When he reached Fuxi's side, Ye Chuanze stopped and said, "Let's go!"
The two walked down the corridor together, which led to a courtyard. Ye Chuanze and Fuxi walked side by side, strolling through the garden filled with vibrant flowers that exuded a delightful fragrance. The evening breeze blew gently, bringing a refreshing coolness as the moonlight cast a lonely silence.
Ye Chuanze glanced at Fuxi's expression and noticed that he looked somewhat cold, completely lacking the gentle demeanor he usually displayed. He paused for a moment before casually asking, "Where is Nüwa?"
"She went to visit friends in West Kunlun," Fuxi replied in a calm tone.
Perhaps due to the coolness of the moonlight, Ye Chuanze felt an illusion; he seemed to detect a hint of coldness in Fuxi's words. Nüwa had just returned from Buzhou Mountain before dark and now had left again. If he were to say there was no hidden reason behind this, he would never believe it.
"Did you have an argument with Nüwa?" Ye Chuanze asked. As soon as he spoke, he regretted it. His question was too direct; he should have been more subtle. He silently chided himself for being so careless. He hoped Fuxi wouldn't be angry. He didn't have the ability to withstand Fuxi's wrath; he never wanted to argue with his close friend or make him upset.
Fuxi paused at the words, turning to look at him. Under the moonlight, his expression was indifferent, and he said in an extremely calm tone, "Don't you already know?"
"Eh? What do I know?" Ye Chuanze widened his eyes innocently, appearing completely unaware.
Fuxi looked at him with a calm demeanor and said, "Did you not go with Nuwa today to seize Hongyun Daoist's Primordial Purple Qi?"
Knowing he couldn't hide it from him, Ye Chuanze sighed inwardly and admitted straightforwardly, "That is indeed the case. So what?"
Hearing his nonchalant response, Fuxi coldly replied, "Nuwa is being reckless; are you going to be reckless too?"
"Fuxi, calm down. Both Nuwa and I are fine. I accompanied her so that if anything happens, I can assist her. If things turn dire, I can protect her and let her leave first," Ye Chuanze explained.
Although he knew that Nuwa would eventually become one of the Primordial Six Saints and possess great power, she was currently only at the early stage of Quasi-Saint. Against many Primordial powerhouses, she did not have the advantage. Ye Chuanze felt he should protect her until she achieved sainthood. This was due to their friendship as well as for Fuxi's sake.
Fuxi looked at him with clear eyes like a cold spring and said, "Nuwa is my younger sister; I care for her. You are also my dear friend, and I do not wish to see you take risks. My friend, I worry about you too. If you were to encounter danger because of Nuwa, I could never forgive myself..."
Upon hearing this, Ye Chuanze's expression shifted slightly. He understood the unspoken words from Fuxi: he too could never forgive Nuwa.
After a long pause, Ye Chuanze said, "Rest assured, both Nuwa and I are well. You need not feel troubled between us. Nuwa is not only your sister but also my friend."
