When Ye Chuanze saw Hongjun, Hongjun was bending down in the garden tending to the flowers and plants. He wore a deep purple long robe embroidered with golden butterflies, which seemed to dance in the sunlight. Ye Chuanze paused there, gazing at him for a long time.
Seemingly sensing his gaze, Hongjun turned his head and saw Ye Chuanze standing there. His eyes slightly paused, and in a cold voice, he said, "At this time, you should be attending Di Jun's wedding. Why have you come here?"
Ye Chuanze looked at him, remained silent for a moment, and then said, "I left midway."
"What happened?" Hongjun asked.
"Nothing happened. I... I just wanted to see you."
In a moment of carelessness, Hongjun pricked his finger on a rose thorn. He withdrew his finger and said lightly, "Let's talk inside."
Ye Chuanze silently followed behind Hongjun as they walked into the house.
Pushing the door open and entering the room, Hongjun sat on the soft couch inside while Ye Chuanze stood in front of him. Hongjun looked at him calmly and said in a flat tone, "Speak. What happened?"
Hearing this, Ye Chuanze lowered his eyes and remained silent for a while. After a long pause, he finally spoke softly, "Today is Di Jun's grand wedding. The ceremony is splendid, with many celestial beings coming to congratulate them; the atmosphere is extremely festive and magnificent."
Hongjun quietly watched him, waiting for him to continue.
Ye Chuanze paused for a moment before continuing, "Xi He stands beside him, her smile radiant like flowers, her expression joyful. Their love has finally borne fruit, witnessed by all the celestial beings." After a pause, he added, "As the Demon Emperor and the lord of the Heavenly Palace, Di Jun's wedding today is such that all the celestial beings respect his identity as Demon Emperor and dare not decline his invitation."
"From this, it can be seen that a man must first establish himself before starting a family. Without establishing oneself, how can one start a family?" Ye Chuanze spoke with conviction.
Hongjun fell silent upon hearing this.
Ye Chuanze suddenly raised his head, his gaze fixed on him with a burning intensity, as if a flame were igniting within him. He asked slowly, "Master, are you willing to wait for me to establish myself?"
Hongjun's hand, resting on the soft couch beside him, trembled slightly. He looked up at Ye Chuanze and replied coldly, "Are you serious about this?"
"Of course I am serious."
"Are you not afraid of betraying your master?"
At these words, Ye Chuanze suddenly smiled. He looked at Hongjun and said, "If you are willing, what do I have to fear? It is merely a matter of betraying my master; if you are willing, I would dare to go against the world."
Hongjun's gaze remained fixed on his face for a long time, as if trying to discern his true thoughts. Ye Chuanze met his gaze calmly, showing no signs of fear or guilt.
After a long while, Hongjun spoke in a clear and cold tone, "Since you have no fear in your heart, what do I have to be concerned about? Your words I will accept; I will wait for you here in the Purple Cloud Palace."
Hearing this, Ye Chuanze smiled deeply.
Hongjun looked at him and waved him over. "Come here."
Ye Chuanze walked over as instructed, and Hongjun added, "Sit beside me."
Ye Chuanze complied and sat next to him. Hongjun slightly turned his head to look at him and after a while reached out to embrace his shoulder. Ye Chuanze was taken aback but then lay down naturally, resting his head on Hongjun's lap.
Hongjun gently stroked his head, playing with his soft black hair. Ye Chuanze rarely felt so quiet and docile as he rested on Hongjun's lap, allowing him to do as he pleased. The tranquil moments passed slowly; neither spoke, simply leaning against each other and quietly feeling each other's presence.
With his eyes closed and resting on Hongjun's lap, Ye Chuanze wore a calm expression. Hongjun's reaction was better than he had imagined; he did not directly refuse him, which was truly wonderful.
After a long time, Hongjun said, "I once asked you to come to Purple Cloud Palace a hundred years later to entrust something to you. Although the time has not yet come, it is not far off. Today, I will give you this item, and you must take good care of it." As he spoke, Hongjun took out a three-legged round cauldron and handed it to him, continuing, "This is the Qian Kun Ding, a treasure born of the primordial chaos, sharing the same origin as you, both transformed from the Chaos Azure Lotus."
Ye Chuanze received the Qian Kun Ding, examining it closely. Hongjun added, "This Qian Kun Ding is entrusted to you for great use in the future; this is a significant opportunity for you."
Upon hearing this, Ye Chuanze put away the Qian Kun Ding, leaned his head on Hongjun's shoulder, nuzzling slightly, and said, "Disciple thanks Master for the treasure."
Hongjun looked down at the person resting on his shoulder and said calmly, "You may go do what you wish; I will always be here in Purple Cloud Palace, never leaving. I will... wait for your return to fulfill your promise."
Leaning against his shoulder, Ye Chuanze softly replied with an "Mm," saying, "Master, wait for me." As he spoke, one hand resting on the soft couch quietly grasped Hongjun's hand and tightened its grip. Suddenly, Hongjun's hand slipped free and then... grasped his hand back firmly, not allowing Ye Chuanze to escape.
Sunlight poured through the window, bathing the room in gold. In the spacious room, on a soft couch, Ye Chuanze rested his head on Hongjun's thigh with closed eyes pretending to nap. One of Hongjun's hands gently stroked his head while the other tightly held onto Ye Chuanze's hand, their fingers intertwined.
***********
At midday under the blazing sun, Ye Chuanze arrived at Purple Cloud Palace, leaving only after sunset when night fell.
After departing from Purple Cloud Palace, a flush appeared on Ye Chuanze's face as if he were steaming like a cooked shrimp. He soared through the clouds towards Mount Buzhou, with refreshing evening breezes gradually dissipating the redness from his cheeks.
Upon reaching the Buzhou Mountain Cloud Marsh Cave, Ye Chuanze descended from the mist; by this time, his complexion had mostly returned to normal. The Gatekeeper Boy, having seen him, opened the door as Ye Chuanze walked inside.
Heading towards his chamber, he pushed open the door and discovered someone sitting inside.
On the long couch in the room lay a man in black clothing at an angle. His brows were sharp and fierce; his features were handsome with a cold demeanor—who else could it be but Rahul?
There lay Rahul, lazily sprawled on the couch with a Wine Jug in hand, drinking straight from it. Upon seeing Ye Chuanze return, Rahul complained in a tone of mock annoyance, "Why are you so slow? Didn't you leave the Heavenly Palace early? Why are you back so late?"
Ye Chuanze was taken aback by his familiar tone. When did they become so close? He then became alert and caught useful information in his words. Narrowing his eyes slightly, he asked, "How do you know I left the Heavenly Palace early?"
Rahul looked up at him, a smirk playing on his lips as he replied, "Why be so cautious? It's quite a mood killer. You shouldn't worry about such trivial matters."
"I don't think this is a trivial matter," Ye Chuanze's tone suddenly turned cold as he said, "You need to explain why you know so much about my whereabouts."
Rahul tilted his head back and took another sip of wine, saying, "You are under my command; naturally, I need to be well-informed about your movements."
"Oh?" Ye Chuanze's voice rose slightly as he continued, "Then do you know where I went after leaving the Heavenly Palace?"
Rahul scoffed and said, "You went to the Purple Cloud Palace to find Hongjun, right?"
"Do you know why I went to the Purple Cloud Palace to see my master?" Ye Chuanze asked again.
Rahul looked at him with disdain and replied dismissively, "Why would I need to know that? All I need to know is that you are under my command; the rest of the unrelated matters have nothing to do with me."
Hearing this, Ye Chuanze smiled but remained silent.
Rahul took another swig of wine and casually glanced at him, secretly speculating about Ye Chuanze's purpose for visiting the Purple Cloud Palace. Although he pretended not to care about Ye Chuanze visiting Hongjun, he was actually quite concerned. He just couldn't bring himself to admit it in front of Ye Chuanze.
Knowing that Ye Chuanze had left the Heavenly Palace, Rahul had rushed from the Demon Realm to the Buzhou Mountain Cloud Marsh Cave in search of him. With high hopes, he was disappointed to find nothing. Rahul hurriedly arrived at the Buzhou Mountain Cloud Marsh Cave wanting to see Ye Chuanze, but when he found him absent, he felt instantly displeased. However, he didn't leave; instead, he waited in Ye Chuanze's room for his return.
Rahul had suspected that Ye Chuanze had gone to the Purple Cloud Palace to find Hongjun. Yet when he heard Ye Chuanze admit it himself, Rahul couldn't help but feel annoyed. Why was it that he had been waiting all day without seeing Ye Chuanze while Hongjun could frequently see him without even leaving his home? As someone who also couldn't easily leave and was forced to stay in the Cave like a recluse, Rahul felt psychologically unbalanced. Both were recluses, yet Hongjun clearly had better treatment; at least Ye Chuanze wouldn't often visit the Demon Palace looking for him.
Though Rahul felt displeased inside, he kept it to himself. He was always too proud to admit that he was jealous of Hongjun. He tossed a wine jug to Ye Chuanze and said, "You don't find it boring going to see Hongjun? That guy is like a closed-off gourd; it takes ages for him to say anything. I really don't understand what you're thinking—what's so good about that closed-off gourd that makes you keep thinking about him and running off to see him?"
Ye Chuanze pondered for a moment and felt that Rahul's words were quite accurate. Hongjun was indeed like that, a taciturn person who kept everything bottled up inside and never shared his thoughts with others. This made it necessary for him to constantly guess Hongjun's feelings, and he couldn't afford to be wrong; if he misjudged Hongjun's thoughts and said something inappropriate, it would only anger him.
Ye Chuanze took a sip of his drink and agreed, "Yeah! How did I end up liking such a closed-off person?"
"Huh?" Rahul immediately choked on his drink, looking extremely shocked. Did he hear that correctly?
Ye Chuanze glanced at him and said somewhat irritably, "Is your reaction really that big? I just said I like Hongjun; is it necessary to be so dramatic?"
"What did you say? Did I just hear something incredible?" Rahul asked, struggling to process the information.
Ye Chuanze looked at him and replied, "I said I like Hongjun."
"..." Rahul and his companions were left dumbfounded.
Seeing Rahul's stunned expression, Ye Chuanze couldn't help but feel mischievous. He smirked and said, "Did I mention that I just went to Purple Cloud Palace to confess my feelings to Hongjun?"
