After Nüwa attained sainthood, the purple qi and golden light surrounding her dissipated. She walked towards Ye Chuanze, handing him the Gourd Vine and Qian Kun Ding, saying, "Thank you for your assistance. I owe you a karma, and I will repay it in the future."
Ye Chuanze took the Gourd Vine and Qian Kun Ding, a smirk appearing on his lips. With a slightly mischievous smile, he replied, "No need. If anything, I have gained from this."
Nüwa's merit fell upon the Gourd Vine and Qian Kun Ding, instantly elevating these already extraordinary treasures to a higher quality. The Gourd Vine transformed from a postnatal Spiritual Treasure into a postnatal supreme treasure, while the Qian Kun Ding, originally an innate supreme treasure, had its power significantly enhanced by Nüwa's merit in creating humanity.
Even Ye Chuanze himself received two layers of merit from the creation of humanity, which exceeded his expectations. He had anticipated gaining one layer of merit but ended up with two. He speculated that this was likely because Nüwa and the human race acknowledged him as the Holy Father of humanity, granting him an additional layer of merit. He chuckled to himself, knowing that this extra layer of merit was not easily obtained.
The human race called him father due to an inherent desire for paternal figures; Ye Chuanze indeed contributed significantly to the creation of humanity, so their calling him father was justified. However, Nüwa's acknowledgment of him as the Holy Father was not so simple. Ye Chuanze understood her intention: she wanted humanity to have another protector and hoped he would look after them more in the future.
Creating humanity was easy, but ensuring their survival and development on the Primeval Continent was not. The newly born humans were too weak and ignorant, facing numerous dangers and difficulties. Natural disasters and other threats could easily annihilate a newborn, weak, and unestablished race.
Nüwa realized that relying solely on her strength to protect humanity was impractical. Even as a Sage, she felt limited; after all, she was just a figurehead. While Sages may hold esteemed positions and possess great power without losing ground against adversaries, supporting the survival and development of an entire race could not be accomplished by just one Sage alone. Thus, Nüwa acknowledged humanity's call for Ye Chuanze as their father to encourage him to take on the responsibility of safeguarding them.
Ye Chuanze thought Nüwa's actions were unnecessary; after all, the Primordial Six Saints' opportunity for sainthood lay with humanity—how could they not care for them? Humanity was destined to be the main character in the Primordial era, favored by the heavens; even if Demon Gods or celestial beings were eradicated, humanity would continue to thrive and reproduce. Well, perhaps Nüwa did not know this fact; Ye Chuanze understood her desire for assistance.
With two layers of creation merit entering his body, Ye Chuanze did not see any improvement in his cultivation but found all his accumulated karma erased. Merit is beneficial; it eliminates karma and allows one to kill without incurring karmic retribution—beneficial for cultivation. Those with great merit are protected by heavenly principles; ordinary people dare not harm them for fear of incurring great karma that would lead to endless burdens.
Ye Chuanze had a poor start due to his Twelfth-Grade Annihilation Black Lotus origin, which absorbed violent energies from heaven and earth at birth and carried significant karma that drew heavenly disdain. Later on, he followed Rahul around killing and plundering treasures; although he did not personally kill anyone, he still contributed to evil deeds and accumulated considerable karma. This was why he struggled for so long to take form; with so much karma weighing down on him, had he not absorbed a small portion of merit during Hongjun's teachings at Purple Cloud Palace later on, he would never have taken form in this lifetime.
His ability to take form was entirely due to benefiting from Hongjun's teachings; thus, unbeknownst to him at that time, he had already incurred significant karma owed to Hongjun that he could never repay in this lifetime. Therefore, pledging himself in servitude was also in accordance with heavenly will.
Looking at these newly born humans, Nüwa furrowed her brow and said, "What should we name this new race?"
After hearing this, Ye Chuanze smiled slightly and said, "Let's just call them the Human Race."
Nüwa glanced at him and asked, "Why call them the Human Race? What is the deeper meaning behind this name?"
"None, I just think it should be called that," Ye Chuanze replied.
Nüwa frowned slightly, clearly displeased with his answer, but she nodded in agreement, saying, "Then let it be the Human Race!"
After a pause, Nüwa looked somewhat troubled and said, "Now, how should we settle the Human Race?"
Ye Chuanze glanced at the rushing Yellow River and said, "Water is the source of all things; all Sentient Beings rely on water for survival. This place is located by the great river; why not settle the Human Race here?"
Nüwa had originally intended to take the Human Race back to Buzhou Mountain, but given their large population, she feared that Buzhou Mountain would not be able to accommodate them all. The land by the Yellow River is vast; settling the Human Race here would indeed be a good solution. She nodded and said, "For now, we can only do it this way."
Ye Chuanze opened his mouth to speak but suddenly a bolt of lightning struck down towards him. He was startled and narrowly avoided it.
The originally clear blue sky suddenly became overcast with dark clouds, and the daylight dimmed. A strong wind blew, stirring up dust and stones. The newly born Human Race felt a sense of fear at such a celestial phenomenon, their expressions filled with terror. Seeing this, Nüwa quickly summoned the Treasure Map of Mountains and Rivers to gather the Human Race into her artifact.
Ye Chuanze watched as the world changed around him and felt an overwhelming sense of familiarity; it reminded him so much of when he was struck by lightning before.
He was not alone in this feeling; Nüwa also sensed that the scene before her was reminiscent of something from the past. Wasn't it just like when Ye Chuanze underwent tribulation and was struck by lightning? Nüwa's heart sank as she recalled the heavy psychological burden left on her during his tribulation at Buzhou Mountain. Now it was happening again, and clearly this lightning tribulation was more dangerous and ferocious than before. Nüwa felt unwell. She forced a smile at Ye Chuanze and said, "My friend, I will take my leave first. Do not worry; everything will be fine!"
With that, she turned and flew away without hesitation.
Ye Chuanze stared in shock at her figure as she ran away. Seriously! Is it really necessary to be so heartless? It's not like I want to die while you live! You're a Sage, at least stay and help me bear this thunder tribulation!
Nüwa stopped high in the sky, a thousand miles away from Ye Chuanze. At this distance, she didn't have to worry about being caught in the range of the thunder tribulation. Nüwa rode the clouds and hovered in the sky, keeping an eye on Ye Chuanze as he faced his tribulation. She was much more considerate than Ye Chuanze imagined; she genuinely cared about him facing the tribulation. She ran away quickly because she believed that Ye Chuanze would surely pass through the thunder tribulation safely. To avoid being implicated, she found a safe area far from the range of the tribulation and closely monitored Ye Chuanze's situation.
Ye Chuanze looked up at the heavy black clouds in the sky, feeling furious and aggrieved. Thunder tribulation again! He hadn't even transformed yet; how could there still be a thunder tribulation? He was too naive! He originally thought that once he succeeded in transforming, he could escape the torment of the thunder tribulation, feeling secretly pleased. Little did he know that today he would face another thunder tribulation! With a look of indignation, he silently raised his middle finger to the sky, and then with a loud rumble, a purple divine lightning accompanied by silver flashes of lightning struck down fiercely towards Ye Chuanze.
"Oh, damn it! Heaven's Way, I curse you!" Ye Chuanze hurriedly sprinted away to dodge the thunder tribulation. In the past, he had no hands or feet and could only wait foolishly for the lightning to strike him; now that he could run and jump, standing still waiting for the thunder to strike him would be foolish!
The first bolt of lightning missed and struck the ground instead, creating a cloud of smoke and leaving a giant pit.
Ye Chuanze proudly raised his head, his expression one of uncontainable arrogance. This made Hongjun, who was closely watching him from within Thirty-Three Heavens at Purple Cloud Palace, unable to suppress his laughter. Originally worried, he now found it amusing; this disciple of his truly was a source of both tears and laughter—a real treasure.
Meanwhile, other immortals from Primordial and their companions were stunned! What kind of auspicious day was today? How could both good and bad events collide like this, happening one after another? It was truly testing their hearts' capacity to endure! First, there was the birth of humanity, followed by unusual phenomena and Merit. Then Nüwa became a saint, with Purple Qi coming from the east and heavenly pressure descending. Now it was Ye Chuanze facing his tribulation, causing heaven and earth to change color as the Nine Heavens Purple Thunder Tribulation descended.
Their fragile little hearts were truly pitiful; just when they had calmed down from earlier shocks, they were startled again. If this continued a few more times, they might fall ill. The Primordial Immortals all thought in unison that even immortals could get angry—couldn't everything just happen at once? Did it have to be so shocking?
Having dodged the first bolt of lightning, Ye Chuanze couldn't escape the second one because... this damn thunder tribulation could turn!
As Ye Chuanze ran frantically, the thunder tribulation chased behind him, curving around to strike him directly. He no longer had the strength to raise his middle finger; this was just too ridiculous—how could lightning follow him like this? It defied logic!
Inside Purple Cloud Palace, Hongjun watched as Ye Chuanze, looking helpless and exhausted while running around dodging lightning strikes, couldn't help but smile wider. What a lively character! It was time for him to face some hardships so that others wouldn't have to worry about him all day long.
The third bolt of lightning, fourth bolt of lightning, fifth bolt of lightning... As Ye Chuanze continued to run, he silently calculated how many bolts of lightning he had endured so far.
After the Seventh Thunder Tribulation fell, he was already battered and bruised, his body torn apart. A fragrant smell of cooked meat wafted through the air, and his long black hair had been turned into a curly mess, making it a sight that could bring tears to anyone's eyes—truly tragic!
After the eighth thunder tribulation, Ye Chuanze had no strength left in his body; he could not even stand on his legs. With a loud thud, he collapsed to the ground, lying still like a corpse, eyes closed as if he were dead.
Inside the Purple Cloud Palace, Hongjun witnessed this scene, and the smile on his lips faded away, replaced by a furrowed brow. After pondering for a moment, he stood up and walked outside.
Without giving Ye Chuanze a moment to catch his breath, the Final Thunder Tribulation descended next. Accompanied by flashes of lightning and thunder, the purple thunder tribulation roared like a giant dragon, revealing its sharp claws as it fiercely charged toward Ye Chuanze.
With a tremendous crash, the thunder tribulation struck down.
The ground erupted in a burst of silver light that dazzled the onlookers' eyes. No one could see what happened to this Final Thunder Tribulation—whether Ye Chuanze had evaded it or…
Given the situation at that time, it seemed unlikely that he had escaped. The Primordial Immortals who had been silently watching shook their heads in sorrow for Ye Chuanze, lamenting that he would likely not escape this calamity. Everyone felt a deep sense of regret; even if he had survived the Transformation Thunder Tribulation back then, what did it matter now if he was struck down by the thunder tribulation? Such a pity!
After a long while, when all the immortals were still feeling regretful and sighing, suddenly a burst of golden light erupted.
The Primordial Immortals and their companions were stunned—this was no way to play with someone's life!
The golden light lasted for quite some time and only dissipated after a minute. Once it faded away, the Primordial Immortals craned their necks to look at where Ye Chuanze lay; was he dead or alive?
