Ye Chuanze was surprised. The Three Pure Ones were known for rarely interacting with others, having long resided in the Kunlun Mountain Cave, devoted to their cultivation. They were the epitome of primordial recluses, and their sudden visit surely had a purpose. He speculated about the reason for their arrival, his mind racing, and finally said, "Please let them in."
Ye Chuanze called for a servant to prepare tea and sat at the table, waiting for the Three Pure Ones to arrive. After a while, he saw their figures approaching. Laozi was dressed in white robes, exuding an ethereal aura; Primordial wore a black waist-length gown with a cold demeanor; and Sky-Connecting was clad in a crimson brocade robe, looking handsome. Ye Chuanze welcomed them to sit down and jokingly said, "I am truly honored by your unexpected visit, my three senior brothers."
"You and I are both disciples of the Dao Ancestor; we should interact more often," spoke Laozi, who was usually taciturn. This surprised Ye Chuanze and made him feel flattered.
Ye Chuanze replied, "You are right, senior brother."
The Three Pure Ones took their seats. As the host, Ye Chuanze held the teapot and poured them each a cup of tea, saying, "Please enjoy the tea, my three senior brothers."
Sky-Connecting took a sip from his cup and praised, "Not only is this wine good, but the tea is fragrant as well. You truly are a remarkable person! In my view, among all in Primordial, no one understands enjoyment better than you."
Ye Chuanze shook his head and said, "Senior brother Sky-Connecting, do not jest with me. I am merely indulging my appetite; after all, I am still an ordinary person."
Primordial looked at him upon hearing this, set down his cup, and spoke in his usual cold tone: "You possess an impressive aura and an ethereal presence. Among all our brothers, you are favored most by the Dao Ancestor. There is no need for you to belittle yourself."
Ye Chuanze was somewhat astonished by this remark. Primordial was known for his sharp tongue and cold demeanor; it was rare for him to say something so complimentary. Ye Chuanze felt overwhelmed by the number of times he had been flattered today; he could hardly believe it!
He took a sip of tea to soothe his throat before setting down the cup and saying, "The three senior brothers have come today; it cannot be just for tea."
"You are indeed perceptive," Primordial replied.
Ye Chuanze smiled without speaking further, waiting for him to explain the purpose of their visit.
After a moment of silence, Primordial slowly said, "In the past, when Dao Ancestor delivered teachings at Purple Cloud Palace, we all went together to listen to the supreme mysteries of Dao Law. Later on, when Dao Ancestor accepted disciples and bestowed upon us the foundation for becoming saints—Primordial Purple Qi—he mentioned that we should wait patiently for opportunities; when the time comes, it will be our moment to become saints." He paused briefly before continuing: "We have waited for a thousand years since then. Nuwa became a saint through creating humanity; what about our opportunity?"
Upon hearing this, Ye Chuanze understood their purpose for coming. The Three Pure Ones were here to inquire about their chances of becoming saints. It seemed that Nuwa's early attainment of sainthood had put pressure on them. But why did they think he would know about their opportunities?
"Why ask me?" Ye Chuanze asked, looking at Primordial. "If even the three senior brothers don't know, how could I possibly know?"
Primordial raised his eyes to look at him, his gaze long and meaningful, and said, "Junior brother has always been the favorite of Dao Ancestor, something we cannot compare to. Although in name, you call us senior brothers, you entered the sect much earlier than we did, didn't you?"
Upon hearing this, Ye Chuanze's expression changed slightly as he replied, "How do you know?"
Primordial lightly said, "Just as I thought."
Ye Chuanze realized he had been led into a trap and cursed inwardly, thinking that Primordial truly lived up to being Hongjun's favored disciple—seemingly aloof on the surface but actually insidious; a crooked beam leads to a crooked roof!
Seemingly oblivious to Ye Chuanze's displeasure, Primordial continued, "It is said that Nuwa visited you before creating humanity."
Well, he knows even this. It seems he came well-prepared. Given this situation, it is likely that the Three Pure Ones have determined him to be the most favored disciple of Dao Ancestor and learned about the opportunities for others to attain sainthood from Dao Ancestor. Now they are here to request shared information!
After all, the Three Pure Ones will eventually become saints. Now that humanity has been born, it should be their time to attain sainthood. It would be better to offer some guidance and build a good relationship. Ye Chuanze thought this through and made up his mind. He leisurely picked up his teacup and took a sip before putting it down and saying, "I visited humanity today and had many feelings about it."
The Three Pure Ones looked at him, waiting for what he would say next.
"Several hundred years ago, before I entered seclusion, I was commanded to teach the newly born humanity. In the blink of an eye, a hundred years have passed. When I stepped back into the realm of humanity again, those familiar faces from before were nowhere to be seen. Humanity's lifespan is but a mere hundred years; after a century, only white bones remain buried in the ground." After a pause, Ye Chuanze sighed and said, "Like drifting clouds—born in the morning and dead by evening."
The Three Pure Ones fell silent upon hearing this, each lost in thought.
Ye Chuanze continued, "If one could seek enlightenment in the morning and die by evening, it would not be in vain!"
This seemingly simple statement struck like thunder in the ears of the Three Pure Ones. Their minds cleared instantly from the fog; they pierced through the clouds to see the blue sky and achieved sudden enlightenment!
At this moment, the Three Pure Ones no longer bothered with pleasantries with Ye Chuanze. They quickly stood up to take their leave. Laozi said, "Thank you for enlightening us; we will remember this kindness." With that, they hurriedly left.
Only Ye Chuanze remained sitting at the table. He smiled slightly as he poured himself another cup of tea and muttered to himself, "Shouldn't I join in on the fun and establish my own sect? How about calling it Xiaoyao Sect? Or Piaomiao Peak?" As he spoke, he couldn't help but laugh at himself.
Celestial Path Drifting without a trace, better to wander freely in the world.
Months later, Laozi established Renjiao, teaching and enlightening all beings. Primordial Originating Teachings elucidated all Dao Laws in the world. Sky-Connecting created Intercepting Teachings, seizing a thread of life. The Heavenly Dao sensed this and bestowed Merit, allowing the Three Pure Ones to attain sainthood. Purple Qi came from the east, shaking the foundations of Primordial.
After several more months, Jieyin and Zhun Ti betrayed the Taoist Sect, founding their own Western Teachings, liberating beings to attain Buddhahood, leaving no hungry ghosts in the world. They made the Forty-Eight Great Vows and achieved sainthood.
The Three Pure Ones and Nüwa publicly condemned the two for their ingratitude, betraying their sect and severing their ties with their fellow disciples. Ye Chuanze even charged into Western Spirit Mountain with a spear, battling Jieyin and Zhun Ti, questioning them, "Do you still remember the grace of the Purple Cloud Palace Dao Ancestor's teachings? Do you remember the promises made when you first became disciples under the Dao Ancestor in the Purple Cloud Palace!"
Jieyin and Zhun Ti were left speechless, feeling guilty in their hearts and dared not use their full strength against Ye Chuanze, only dodging and evading. Seeing this, Ye Chuanze was even more enraged; he stopped attacking them directly and instead destroyed half of the spiritual mountain, ruining many of their treasures.
Looking at the ruins of the spiritual mountain, Zhun Ti sighed with a bitter expression, saying, "Junior Brother, we had no choice. Born in the West, rooted in the West, our hearts are tied to the West; my fate with my brother lies in the West."
With anger on his face, Ye Chuanze looked at them coldly and said, "It is a fact that you betrayed your sect; everything happening today is what you deserve!"
Hearing this, Zhun Ti sighed; he acknowledged that they had acted ungratefully first.
Having fought and caused destruction, although still feeling indignant inside, Ye Chuanze found it futile. The die was cast; what could he do against Jieyin and Zhun Ti? As a single Sage, he could barely contend with one of them, let alone two. This time it was because both felt guilty that they allowed him to act against them. He snorted heavily and turned to leave.

After leaving the spiritual mountain, instead of returning directly to Buzhou Mountain, Ye Chuanze went to the Purple Cloud Palace. At this moment, he longed to see Hongjun. Although he knew that Hongjun did not care about the betrayal of Jieyin and Zhun Ti, he had anticipated such an outcome long ago. As the Dao Ancestor Hongjun, what in this world could he not foresee? Yet, despite knowing this, Ye Chuanze still felt indignant and angry on his behalf. At this moment, he needed to see Hongjun. He wanted to comfort his partner even though his partner did not need his comfort.
His chosen partner was stronger than him, smarter than him, more steadfast than him, and held a higher status than him. This made Ye Chuanze feel both proud and pressured; he worked hard to become stronger so as not to fall behind.
Arriving at the entrance of the Purple Cloud Palace, he was spotted by Haotian, who hurried over and called out, "Brother Ye!"
Ye Chuanze replied, "Where is Master? You don't need to lead me; just tell me where he is."
Hearing this, Haotian swallowed back what he was about to say and instead said, "Master is at the Quiet Harmony Residence."
After hearing Ye Chuanze, he turned and walked into the Purple Cloud Palace.
Standing at the door, Ye Chuanze saw Hongjun dressed in a luxurious purple robe, his silver hair tied up, sitting on a white jade bed with his eyes closed. In Taoism, purple is regarded as noble, and Hongjun, as the highest leader of the Taoist Sect, was more suited to the color than anyone else. The nobility of purple complemented Hongjun's cold demeanor, making the originally extravagant color exude an air of aloof elegance.
He stood quietly at the door for a long time, but Hongjun seemed unaware of his arrival and did not open his eyes to look at him. Ye Chuanze stood there, gazing at him for an unknown amount of time before finally speaking, "Master," only to realize that his voice had become hoarse and barely audible.
Upon hearing this, Hongjun opened his eyes, his gaze calm and indifferent. He saw Ye Chuanze standing at the door and said in a cool tone, "You have come."
Ye Chuanze looked at him; Hongjun's handsome face remained expressionless and restrained. Ye Chuanze slightly fluttered his eyelashes and replied, "Yes, I have come."
"What are you doing standing at the door? Come in quickly," Hongjun said.
At his words, Ye Chuanze walked into the room and stood still in front of Hongjun. Noticing his movement, Hongjun looked up at him but was suddenly embraced. Ye Chuanze tightly wrapped his arms around Hongjun's waist; he stood tall, much taller than Hongjun, effortlessly holding him in his embrace. He then casually said, "Master, I just went to Western Spirit Mountain and had a confrontation with Zhun Ti and Jieyin, destroying half of the spiritual mountain."
Hongjun fell silent for a moment before wrapping his arms around him in return. One hand gently stroked Ye Chuanze's back to soothe his rising emotions as he said, "There is no need for that; I do not mind. Everything is destined by heaven."
Hearing this, Ye Chuanze pressed his lips together, looking displeased.
Hongjun continued, "Now that Zhun Ti and Jieyin have become Saints, they bear the will of heaven and are recognized by the heavenly path. You should not easily confront them; it may lead to losing your fortune." After a pause, he added, "Well then, do as you wish; after all, I am here. If you want to do something, go ahead; I do not wish to restrain your nature."
Upon hearing this, Ye Chuanze tightened his hold on Hongjun even more.
