Hongjun had never seen Ye Chuanze like this. Ye Chuanze was usually indifferent, proud, and fierce, rarely showing emotions like he did now. Hongjun frowned and asked, "What is wrong with you today? Why are you acting so out of character?"
Ye Chuanze stubbornly held onto him and after a long while, spoke in a hoarse voice, "You are not angry, but I feel furious. I am indignant for you; it does not sit well with me."
How could anyone not be angry after being betrayed? Hongjun claimed he was not angry and did not care, but Ye Chuanze felt an uncontrollable rage. He could not remain as calm and indifferent as Hongjun. How many experiences, how many ups and downs, how much sorrow and joy had Hongjun gone through to become so detached from the world?
As the Dao Ancestor, Hongjun bore the will of heaven, often finding himself unable to act freely. Rather than saying he did not care, it would be more accurate to say he had no choice but to care; if he did care, he would be unable to bear it. Ye Chuanze felt sorrow for him—one who represented the way of heaven yet was so constrained. Among the three thousand realms of Primordial, perhaps the most unfree was Dao Ancestor Hongjun.
Hearing this from him, Hongjun remained silent for a long time before sighing and saying, "You do not need to feel this way; I truly do not mind. There is no need for you to be sad."
Ye Chuanze held him tightly in silence for a long time.
Hongjun broke free from his embrace and gestured for him to sit on the white jade bed beside them. Ye Chuanze silently released him and sat down.
"I had anticipated the matters concerning Jieyin and Zhunti; there is nothing surprising about it. If you are feeling so gloomy because of this, there is no need for it; I do not require that," Hongjun said.
Upon hearing this, Ye Chuanze looked at him and replied, "Whether you need it or not is your business. How I think and feel is my own matter. I cannot change your thoughts, nor can you interfere with my emotions."
"Why must you be like this?" Hongjun sighed lightly.
After a long silence, Ye Chuanze finally said, "I act this way simply because I care about you."
An unusual silence fell between them when suddenly someone grasped Ye Chuanze's chin and lifted it. He looked up into Hongjun's cold yet strikingly beautiful face that bore an unusual emotional intensity. Hongjun gazed at him without blinking, then lowered his head and gently kissed his brow. Ye Chuanze instinctively closed his eyes as Hongjun's kiss landed softly on his eyelids—lightly and tenderly, as if enveloping him in infinite warmth and affection.
"You do this, how can I not like you? No one has ever spoken to me like this; they all respect me, fear me, dread me," Hongjun sighed in his ear.
Ye Chuanze replied calmly, "I fear you too."
"No, you do not fear me, nor anyone else. Sometimes I am curious about where your courage and confidence come from, unafraid of anything," Hongjun said.
Ye Chuanze pondered for a moment and replied, "Perhaps it's because I believe I am no worse than anyone else. Even if I am not as good now, as long as I work hard in my training, I will surely surpass anyone in the future!"
"Heh heh..." Hongjun chuckled softly after hearing this, placing a gentle kiss near his ear and saying, "Such ambition is truly enticing."
Ye Chuanze remained silent for a long time before looking up at him and asking, "From what you just said, can I understand that no matter who it is, as long as they say they like you, you would yield to them? Because no one has ever said those words to you."
Hongjun raised an eyebrow in surprise and replied, "Why would you think that? Am I such a frivolous person?"
Ye Chuanze looked at him in silence and after a long pause said, "Not... really?"
"Mm?" Hongjun's tone rose slightly as he asked, "What does that last word mean? Do you not trust me?"
"No, I just have some reasonable doubts about your true nature," Ye Chuanze said.
"You are such a disobedient child to doubt your master. It seems I have been too indulgent with you," Hongjun said, his tone growing lower and more ambiguous. He took Ye Chuanze's earlobe into his mouth and gently nibbled on it before extending his tongue to tease it softly.
Ye Chuanze's breath caught suddenly, his expression shocked. Clearly unprepared for Hongjun's actions, he quickly blushed and his ears turned bright red as if they were about to be scorched.
After a moment, Hongjun released his ears and let out a low, muffled laugh, saying, "No matter how many times it happens, your reaction is still so shy. Even I, with my thin skin, can't bear to go too far. But it's okay; I've heard that the more you do it, the more you get used to it."
"Who said that?" Ye Chuanze gritted his teeth and retorted angrily, "Absurd! Nonsense!"
"Hmm? Who said that? Let me think carefully about whose words those were," Hongjun said seriously. After a moment, he added, "I don't remember."
"Master!" Ye Chuanze raised his voice in dissatisfaction. "Who are you trying to fool? With your abilities, how could you forget? Are you deliberately playing with me? Master, heh... is it really fun to toy with me?"
Seeing that he was genuinely angry, Hongjun slowly replied, "I suddenly remembered; it was Rahul who said that."
Good for you, Rahul! Ye Chuanze cursed inwardly and then thought, wait a minute! When did Rahul ever say that? Having lived together with Rahul for thousands of years, he considered himself to know Rahul's character quite well and felt that it didn't sound like something Rahul would say. Thus, he looked at Hongjun suspiciously and asked, "Did he really say that?"
Hongjun maintained a calm expression and replied, "It was indeed him; otherwise, who do you think would have said it?"
Hongjun's reputation was quite good, and Ye Chuanze had always trusted him. Seeing him speak so earnestly dispelled the last bit of doubt in his mind. He believed it and muttered, "Rahul is still as insane as ever, always spouting nonsense!"
Upon hearing this, Hongjun remained silent but slightly curled his lips into a smug smile.
Ye Chuanze stayed in the Purple Cloud Palace for another hour before getting up to leave. Hongjun did not try to keep him; there was no need. Ever since they confirmed their partner relationship, Ye Chuanze had been visiting the Purple Cloud Palace more frequently without needing Hongjun to send someone to summon him as before. Hongjun was very satisfied with this change, as evidenced by the corners of his mouth that had been consistently turned up lately.

Not long after Ye Chuanze returned to Buzhou Mountain Cloud Marsh Cave and while the soft couch was still warm from his presence, a young attendant came to report that Minghe Old Ancestor had come to visit. Ye Chuanze was taken aback; why would Minghe Old Ancestor come to visit? He wasn't familiar with Minghe Old Ancestor; they could only be considered nodding acquaintances without any deep connection. In fact, Ye Chuanze didn't have a good impression of Minghe Old Ancestor. The reason for this dated back to an incident from long ago.
In the past, during a sermon at the Purple Cloud Palace by Dao Ancestor Hongjun, he accepted disciples and bestowed upon them the foundation of the Holy Path known as Primordial Purple Qi. Red Cloud, who was not a disciple of the Dao Ancestor, also received a portion of the Primordial Purple Qi, making him the only individual aside from Hongjun's disciples to obtain it. This led to a series of events where various Primordial beings conspired to seize the Primordial Purple Qi from Red Cloud, ultimately resulting in Red Cloud's self-detonation of his Primordial Spirit and his demise. Later, Ye Chuanze intervened to save a remnant of Red Cloud's soul, nurturing it with a drop of Three Light Divine Water, which allowed Red Cloud to survive. Currently, Red Cloud's remnant soul resides in Wuzhuang Temple, while his friend Zhen Yuanzi searches far and wide for methods to restore his physical body.
Among those who attempted to seize the Primordial Purple Qi from Red Cloud was Minghe Old Ancestor, whose actions pressured Red Cloud into self-detonating his Primordial Spirit, contributing significantly to the outcome. If it were merely for treasure, it would be understandable; after all, in the realm of the Primordial, such acts of theft are not uncommon. However, Ye Chuanze did not think poorly of Minghe Old Ancestor solely for this reason. The issue lay in their close friendship; they were considered good friends. To secretly resort to underhanded tactics against a friend and force him into such a desperate situation revealed Minghe Old Ancestor's ruthless nature.
Following this incident, Ye Chuanze developed a negative perception of Minghe Old Ancestor, disapproving of his character and unwilling to engage with him further. A friend who might stab you in the back at any moment was best avoided. Yet today, he had come to visit for some reason. Ye Chuanze had little interaction with Minghe Old Ancestor on ordinary days and could not fathom his purpose for coming.
"Quickly invite Minghe Old Ancestor in," Ye Chuanze instructed. Regardless of his thoughts, he maintained a courteous demeanor and called for a servant to lead Minghe Old Ancestor inside.
After a while, Minghe Old Ancestor arrived under the guidance of the servant. Ye Chuanze had already prepared drinks and utensils, sitting on a soft couch awaiting his arrival. As soon as Minghe Old Ancestor entered, he burst into laughter and spoke warmly, "I hope you won't mind my sudden visit today!"
Ye Chuanze replied with a smile in his voice, "Not at all! It is my honor that you have come to visit; how could I possibly mind?"
Hearing this, Minghe Old Ancestor laughed heartily and said, "Then I shall not be polite!" With that, he confidently took a seat.
Ye Chuanze maintained his smile but inwardly cursed him as an old fool! He really knew how to take advantage of kindness; didn't he realize those were just polite words? Ye Chuanze pondered what Minghe Old Ancestor meant by "not being polite." As the saying goes, one does not visit without reason; Minghe Old Ancestor's special visit likely indicated something significant. With this thought in mind, Ye Chuanze felt uneasy and sensed that Minghe Old Ancestor might have ulterior motives. He began considering how to dismiss him before getting himself into trouble.
Once seated, Minghe Old Ancestor was served a cup of wine by Ye Chuanze, who also poured himself a glass and casually remarked, "This wine is top-notch; I usually wouldn't even indulge myself with it. Today you are fortunate."
"Is that so? Then I must savor it," Minghe Old Ancestor replied with a smile before taking a sip from his cup and setting it down hastily. He then eagerly asked, "I heard that Nuwa created humanity with your guidance behind the scenes; is that true?"
At this question, Ye Chuanze paused momentarily, his hand holding the wine cup freezing mid-air.
