Chen Haoxuan turned his head and noticed Chen Yina looking at him with an angry expression. It suddenly reminded him of the promise he made to her some time ago that he could no longer refer to her as his sister.
Fearing that Chen Yina would be upset, Chen Haoxuan apologetically said to her, “Nana, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to. I just forgot for a moment.”
“I see you haven’t changed at all,” Chen Yina huffed, turning her head away, clearly upset.
“What’s going on?” Ma Yichen asked, confused. They had been fine just a moment ago, and now she was suddenly angry.
Chen Haoxuan placed a piece of green vegetable onto Chen Yina's plate and gently coaxed her, “Nana, this is your favorite vegetable. Why don’t you give it a try?”
“I won’t eat it,” Chen Yina replied without looking back.
Liu Junfeng, observing them with curiosity, leaned over to Yang Lin and whispered, “What happened? Why did Nana suddenly get angry?”
Yang Lin quietly explained to Liu Junfeng, “Can’t you see? Nana likes Xuan, but Xuan keeps treating her like a sister, so Nana got upset.”
Liu Junfeng sighed inwardly, thinking, “Being handsome has its perks; every girl likes him.” In truth, Liu Junfeng was not bad-looking either and had had his fair share of admirers. However, his high standards had left him single until now.
Chen Haoxuan raised his hand in a vow, saying, “I swear if I ever say that again, may I be struck by lightning and meet a terrible fate.”
Upon hearing Chen Haoxuan’s vow, Chen Yina quickly turned around and gently covered his lips with her right hand, worriedly saying, “Don’t say such things.” She was just throwing a little tantrum and hadn’t expected Chen Haoxuan to take it so seriously.
Chen Haoxuan pulled her hand away from his lips and happily asked, “So you’re not angry anymore?”
“Hmm,” Chen Yina nodded in response. Since Chen Haoxuan was like this, if she remained angry, she wouldn’t deserve to be his wife.
At that moment, Zhang Beining arrived and sat down next to Ma Yichen. He greeted Chen Haoxuan and the others, saying, “Hello! Is there something good happening today? All the celebrities from New City University are here.”
“It’s nothing special; we just wanted to gather for a meal. The more people, the merrier!” Chen Haoxuan replied with a smile.
With everyone present, they began their meal.
As Chen Haoxuan and his friends were finishing their meal, the cafeteria was already crowded with many students wandering around with their trays. Every time someone stood up to leave, a large group of students would rush to claim their spot. Zhou Kexin and Hua Lingwei couldn't find a seat either; they walked around the cafeteria for over twenty minutes without success, which made them so frustrated that they didn't even want to eat.
Suddenly, Zhou Kexin heard a familiar voice. She turned around and spotted Chen Haoxuan and his friends not far away. Zhou Kexin's eyes lit up, and she happily said to Hua Lingwei, "Vivi, look, isn't that Chen Haoxuan and the others? Let's go over!"
Zhou Kexin and Hua Lingwei carried their trays toward Chen Haoxuan's table. Zhou Kexin approached Chen Haoxuan and called out, "Chen Haoxuan, you guys are eating too!"
"Oh! It's you!" Chen Haoxuan replied with a smile.
Noticing the trays in Zhou Kexin and Hua Lingwei's hands, Chen Haoxuan realized they hadn't eaten yet. He looked around and saw that there were no available seats. The cafeteria tables typically had six or four seats, and his group occupied a six-seat table that was just enough for them. Now that Zhou Kexin and Hua Lingwei had joined, he wondered how they could all fit. It would seem rude not to let them sit down, but he wasn't full yet either.
In the end, Chen Haoxuan decided to let them have the seats. He pulled Yang Lin into it as well. Standing up, he said to Yang Lin, "Yang Lin, let's wait to eat; we should give our seats to them first."
Since Chen Haoxuan said so, Yang Lin couldn't refuse. He stood up and smiled at Hua Lingwei, saying, "Vivi, you can sit here."
Chen Haoxuan then told Zhou Kexin, "I've already eaten half of my meal and I'm not hungry anymore. You must be hungry since you haven't eaten yet! You can sit here; I'll eat after you're done."
"Thank you," Zhou Kexin replied sweetly as she unceremoniously took the seat Chen Haoxuan had just vacated.
As for Hua Lingwei, she smiled at Yang Lin and said, "I'm not hungry; you go ahead and eat!"
"You should go first..."
"No, no, you first..." Hua Lingwei and Yang Lin insisted on letting each other go first until finally Yang Lin sat down to eat while Hua Lingwei remained standing.
Chen Haoxuan and Hua Lingwei awkwardly stood by watching Yang Lin eat. Chen Haoxuan turned around and offered to hold Hua Lingwei's tray, saying, "Let me help you with that!"
"Okay, thank you," Hua Lingwei accepted his kind gesture without hesitation. She felt that Chen Haoxuan was very gentlemanly and considerate.
As Chen Haoxuan held Hua Lingwei's tray, he noticed the food on it and couldn't help but exclaim, "Why are you only eating vegetables? Are you short on money for food? Or are you on a diet?"
Hua Lingwei covered her mouth with her hand and giggled, "Chen Haoxuan, you're really funny! Did you forget my dad is the president of Hua Group?"
"Are you on a diet?" Chen Haoxuan asked again.
"Well, I'm a girl! If I don't maintain my figure, I'll get ugly," Hua Lingwei explained.
"You're really silly. If you gained a little more weight, you'd be perfect. If you lose any more, you'll regret it later," Chen Haoxuan joked.
"Really?" Hua Lingwei said, somewhat skeptical.
"Of course it's true. Wait here for a moment; I'll go get you some food," Chen Haoxuan said.
Chen Haoxuan ordered a lot of meat dishes for Hua Lingwei. When she saw so much food, she couldn't help but exclaim, "Am I supposed to eat all of this by myself? I can't eat that much!"
"Of course you're not eating it all by yourself! I'm here too!" Chen Haoxuan laughed. He had been eating a lot of meat every day because he wanted to become stronger and needed nutritious food.
Chen Haoxuan picked up his chopsticks and started eating from Hua Lingwei's plate. After eating a few pieces of pork, he noticed that Hua Lingwei was just watching him eat without touching her food. So he said, "Why aren't you eating? Aren't you hungry? Oh, I get it; you're afraid others will say you're standing while eating, right?"
"That's not it at all! I'll eat right now to show you," Hua Lingwei said as she took out her own chopsticks and picked up a piece of green vegetable to put in her mouth. Her cheeks turned slightly red; she felt shy about sharing a plate with a boy for the first time.
