Chen Haoxuan's fighting spirit ignited, his speed increasing and his strikes becoming more ferocious. He was covered in blood, though it was unclear whether it was his or that of his enemies.
The six Masked Men who had surrounded Chen Haoxuan lay defeated on the ground, groaning in agony. Their bodies were riddled with wounds, blood flowing continuously, indicating serious injuries. However, they were not critically injured; Chen Haoxuan had avoided their vital areas. Still, with so many wounds, if they were not taken to a hospital soon, they could very well bleed to death.
After taking down the six Masked Men, Chen Haoxuan turned his furious gaze toward Lin Hao and the others. He saw Lin Hao lying motionless on the ground, while Jiang Dong and the others were still desperately fighting against three remaining Masked Men.
"Wait, three? Wasn't there four? Where's the other one?" Chen Haoxuan exclaimed, a sense of foreboding creeping into his mind as he turned around to look.
When Chen Haoxuan turned and saw what was behind him, fear washed over his face. Was there a ghost behind him? Or did someone want to kill him? Neither; he was afraid because one of the Masked Men had taken Chen Yina hostage. Chen Yina was the first person he met in this century and had treated him better than anyone else. In his heart, she was more important than anything else, which is why he feared for her safety.
The Masked Man holding Chen Yina hostage hadn't intended to do so initially, but for their own safety and to obtain the Thousand Buddha Stone Pagoda, he had no choice but to use her as leverage against Chen Haoxuan. Coldly, he said to Chen Haoxuan, "Tell your people to stop immediately, or I will kill her."
"Jiang Dong, you all stop!" Chen Haoxuan shouted at Jiang Dong and the others who were still resisting the Masked Men.
Upon hearing Chen Haoxuan's command, Jiang Dong and the others ceased their struggle. They dragged Lin Hao over to Chen Haoxuan's side. Jiang Dong nervously said to him, "Boss Chen, Lin Hao is seriously injured. If we don't get him to a hospital soon, he might not see tomorrow's sun."
The three Masked Men who had just fought with Jiang Dong and his group saw them retreating to Chen Haoxuan's side and also moved back to join their companion holding Chen Yina hostage, creating a standoff.
After hearing Jiang Dong's words, one of the Masked Men replied to Chen Haoxuan, "Can you let my people take him to the hospital? As long as I'm here, they won't dare do anything."
"No way! No one is allowed to leave!" the Masked Man holding Chen Yina shouted back at Chen Haoxuan.
Crying, the hostage Chen Yina pleaded with Chen Haoxuan, "Brother Xuan, you all should leave quickly and not worry about me. Wuwu..." She was very sad; she had been sleeping when she heard the commotion. Upon waking up and seeing Chen Haoxuan fighting a group of Masked Men, she feared being a burden and hid at the doorway to watch. However, she was spotted by a Masked Man who had just taken down Lin Hao and charged toward her.
Chen Yina felt very guilty. If it weren't for her, perhaps Chen Haoxuan and the others could have subdued the Masked Men. Now, for her sake, Chen Haoxuan and the others dared not resist. If anything happened to them, she would feel guilty for the rest of her life.
"Nana, I will not abandon you. Don't worry too much; I will save you," Chen Haoxuan said gently to Chen Yina.
The more he said this, the guiltier Chen Yina felt. Tears streamed down her face as if a spring had burst from her eyes.
Chen Haoxuan then addressed the Masked Men holding Chen Yina hostage, saying, "The six people lying on the ground are your good buddies, right? Their injuries are no less severe than those of my people. If you don't hurry and get them to the hospital, they will die. They are your brothers who have fought alongside you; is this how you treat your good brothers? I suggest one of you take your injured brother to the hospital for treatment."
Upon hearing Chen Haoxuan's words, the Masked Men holding Chen Yina turned to his companions and said, "Xiao Ming, Ah Hu, you two take the boss to get treated. Remember to be careful." He then turned back to Chen Haoxuan and added, "My people can leave, but none of yours are allowed to go."
Chen Haoxuan smiled faintly and replied, "Don't you think that if my people are all here, your pressure will be greater? They are all veterans; they are not ordinary people. Aren't you afraid they might suddenly rebel against you? If you let them go and I don't allow them to call the police, don't you think that would only benefit you?" When Chen Haoxuan smiled, the pressure on the Masked Men increased because he was covered in blood, even from his mouth; he looked like a demon just crawled out of hell.
What Chen Haoxuan said seemed reasonable to the Masked Men holding Chen Yina. So he shouted back at Chen Haoxuan, "Fine! I agree. Let your men leave! But remember, if they dare to call the police, I will kill this woman."
Chen Haoxuan turned to Jiang Dong and the others and said, "Hurry up and take Lin Hao to the hospital. Remember not to call the police."
"Boss Chen, what will you do once we leave?" Jiang Dong asked worriedly.
"You are no match for them; even if you stay behind, it won't help. Just leave! Quickly take Lin Hao to the hospital; I don't want anything to happen to him. Here are my car keys; go!" Chen Haoxuan handed his car keys to Jiang Dong.
With the injured leaving, only two Masked Men remained. Chen Haoxuan coldly addressed them, "State your terms. What do you want in exchange for releasing my friend?"
"We want the Thousand Buddha Stone Pagoda, and we also want you," replied the Masked Man holding Chen Yina hostage.
"Me? What do you want me to do?" Chen Haoxuan asked curiously, suspecting that this group of robbers wanted him to continue carving and give them the carved items.
"Hehe... you underestimate us. We are not ordinary robbers. Our boss is the smartest person in the world. What he wants is not temporary glory, but lasting glory. If we only rob the Thousand Buddha Stone Pagoda, we could make quite a bit of money, but once we spend the money from selling the Thousand Buddha Stone Pagoda, what will we eat? So our boss wants to capture you and have you work for us. Don't worry, aside from your freedom, we'll give you whatever you want," said the Masked Man holding Chen Yina.
"I can work for you, but you have to let my friend go. Otherwise, I absolutely will not work for you," Chen Haoxuan said firmly.
"Hehe... do you think we're fools? If we don't use this woman to threaten you, will you obediently listen to us? You don't need to worry; we'll keep this woman locked up with you so that you can always be together. How about that? Isn't that a nice benefit?" the Masked Man holding Chen Yina laughed.
