Chen Haoxuan stretched out his arms and slowly reached forward. He had just been fighting with the Masked Men, so he was unsure of his current position and which direction he was facing.
Suddenly, Chen Haoxuan touched two soft objects. Out of curiosity, he couldn't help but squeeze them. However, a scream came from in front of him: "Chen Yina!"
Chen Haoxuan's hands were swatted away by Chen Yina, and he realized that what he had grabbed was her chest. He broke into a cold sweat, swearing that it was not intentional; he just wanted to find the room because it had lights and a flashlight. Chen Yina continued to scream, presumably thinking someone was trying to assault her.
Chen Haoxuan called out, "Nana, stop screaming! It's me, Chen Haoxuan."
Hearing his voice, Chen Yina stopped screaming. Her trembling voice replied, "Xuan—Brother Xuan, is it really you?"
"It's me. The living room is too dark for me to see, so I had to feel my way around. I didn't mean to touch you. Cough, cough—Nana, I really didn't do it on purpose," Chen Haoxuan explained awkwardly.
"It's—it's fine," Chen Yina said shyly, lowering her head. Although he couldn't see her, he could tell from her bashful tone that her face must be very red.
"It's good that it's fine. You stay here; I'll go find the flashlight in my room," Chen Haoxuan said.
He walked around Chen Yina and continued searching for his room. Eventually, he found it and turned on the light switch by the door. The room lit up, and he found the flashlight inside. He turned it on and ran back to the living room, calling out to Chen Yina: "Nana, come over here!"
Seeing the light, Chen Yina felt much less scared and quickly ran towards Chen Haoxuan. She rushed into his arms and cried out excitedly, "Brother Xuan!"
Chen Haoxuan gently patted Chen Yina's back and comforted her: "Nana, it's okay now; don't be afraid! Stay in my room and don't come out, alright?"
"Mm." Chen Yina left Chen Haoxuan's embrace and obediently walked into his room.
Chen Haoxuan shone his flashlight on the Masked Men he had subdued and discovered that the one who had just taken Chen Yina hostage was not dead, merely unconscious, as his chest was still rising and falling. The condition of another Masked Man was worse; he had been stabbed in the stomach by Chen Haoxuan and had both hands broken. He was also alive but likely fainted from the pain.
Although these individuals were thieves, if they died, it would cause trouble for Chen Haoxuan. Therefore, he took out his phone and called the police. Ten minutes later, a large number of officers arrived at Chen Haoxuan's residence. After investigating the scene, they took the two Masked Men lying on the ground to the hospital, while Chen Haoxuan and Chen Yina were taken to the police station to give their statements.
After giving their statements, the police released Chen Yina but detained Chen Haoxuan. Worried that Chen Haoxuan might go to jail, Chen Yina paced anxiously outside the police station. Suddenly, she thought of Chen Haoxuan's friends, Yang Lin and others, so she quickly pulled out her phone and dialed Yang Lin's number.
Yang Lin knew many people online, but he did not know anyone at the police station. The officers there would not listen to him and release Chen Haoxuan; however, he knew someone who could help—Zhou Kexin and her friends. Their fathers were all Big Bosses who paid substantial taxes. While they did not engage in politics, officials would still give them some respect since businesspeople held a high status in China due to their crucial role in driving the economy.
Yang Lin called Zhou Kexin. Upon learning that Chen Haoxuan was being detained by the police, Zhou Kexin hurriedly put on her coat and went to find her father, waking him from his sleep. On the way to the police station, Zhou Kexin called her best friend Hua Lingwei and asked her to rush to the police station as well.
The police station became lively with Zhou Xiang, New City's richest man, personally visiting. Hua Tianyu, president of Hua Group, also arrived. Even more astonishingly, the genius young director of Qihang Group and the daughter of Pegasus Group were present. The combined wealth of these individuals could place them on the list of world billionaires.
In the police station's reception room, Zhou Xiang and others sat inside while Zhou Xiang addressed Li De (the police chief) sitting at the main seat: "Chief Li, why are you detaining Chen Haoxuan? He is the victim; you should not be holding him."
"Boss Zhou, please understand our position. We want to solve this case as soon as possible and need more information from Chen Haoxuan," Li De replied politely to Zhou Xiang. This was his first time feeling such pressure after being chief for so long; with so many wealthy individuals present, if they united to complain about him, his career would be over. Thus, he had no choice but to be courteous.
"You could have called Chen Haoxuan back to give his statement the next day! Why detain him? We demand that you release Chen Haoxuan; otherwise, we will accuse you of abusing your power by holding a victim," Hua Tianyu said sternly to Li De.
Li De began to sweat; wiping his forehead with his hand, he said to Zhou Xiang and others: "We can release him, but we need one of you to act as his guarantor."
"I will be his guarantor," Zhou Xiang and others spoke up in unison.
Li De broke into a sweat again; he realized that Zhou Xiang and others must have a significant relationship with Chen Haoxuan. He suspected that Chen Haoxuan was hiding his true identity—perhaps he was an important figure even greater than Zhou Xiang and others. "Once you sign here, you can take Chen Haoxuan with you; however, if we need to contact him later, we hope he can cooperate."
It was originally enough for one person to sign, but Zhou Xiang and the others all signed. I don't know if they wanted to put pressure on Li De.
After a while, a police officer brought Chen Haoxuan into the meeting room. When Chen Haoxuan saw Zhou Xiang and the others, he knew they were the ones who had helped him get out. He cupped his hands in greeting and smiled, saying, "Thank you all for your concern. I am very grateful."
"Xuan, are you okay? Did those thieves hurt you?" Hua Lingwei asked Chen Haoxuan with concern.
"I'm fine; I just have a minor injury on my hand, but other than that, I'm okay," Chen Haoxuan replied, raising his hand which was already bandaged with sandpaper. Before coming to the police station, he had taken a shower at home; otherwise, if Hua Lingwei and the others had seen him covered in blood, they might have fainted from shock.
