“Zhou Kexin, please don’t do this. It puts me in a difficult position,” Chen Haoxuan said, feeling conflicted.
“Chen Haoxuan, you don’t have to marry me, but can you let me be your mistress?” Zhou Kexin looked at Chen Haoxuan with tear-filled eyes and said earnestly.
Before Chen Haoxuan could respond, Chen Yina jumped in. Since Chen Haoxuan was her boyfriend, how could she possibly agree to him having another woman? She scolded Zhou Kexin, “Zhou Kexin, aren’t you a wealthy young lady? Don’t you think what you’re doing is disgraceful? Even if you’re willing, Brother Ke Xuan might not be, and I certainly won’t agree. Your family wouldn’t either.”
“They love me so much; they will definitely agree,” Zhou Kexin replied through her tears.
Seeing Zhou Kexin’s pitiful expression softened Chen Haoxuan’s heart. He almost wanted to agree to her request. However, he thought that if he did, it would be unfair to Chen Yina. Besides, it felt wrong for a rich young lady like Zhou Kexin to settle for being his mistress. If it were just a casual fling, he might consider it, but for a lifetime, he couldn’t bring himself to do it. After thinking it over, Chen Haoxuan chose to reject Zhou Kexin’s love.
He gently patted Zhou Kexin’s soft back and said tenderly, “Zhou Kexin, listen to me. I know you like me, but feelings cannot be forced. Do you understand? If you truly love me, you should accept everything about me, including my current girlfriend Nana. You should wish us well.”
Zhou Kexin tightly hugged Chen Haoxuan’s waist and cried out, “I don’t want that! I want to be with you!” Chen Haoxuan was right; loving someone means accepting everything about them. But love can also be selfish because it surpasses everything else.
Hua Lingwei watched Zhou Kexin’s sorrowful demeanor and couldn’t help but shed tears herself. She actually envied Zhou Kexin; although she couldn’t have Chen Haoxuan, Zhou Kexin had the courage to confess her feelings to him. Meanwhile, she worried about this and that. Now that Chen Haoxuan was being taken away by someone else, even if she found the courage to confess now, she wouldn’t be able to say anything.
Hua Lingwei tugged at Zhou Kexin’s sleeve again and said with a choked voice, “Zhou Kexin, let’s go back!”
“I’m not going back! I refuse to go back,” Zhou Kexin declared firmly.
“Can I walk you home?” Chen Haoxuan asked gently.
Chen Haoxuan initially thought Zhou Kexin wouldn’t agree, but unexpectedly she did. Zhou Kexin lifted her chin and replied to Chen Haoxuan, “Okay.”
“Then let’s go!” Chen Haoxuan said as he took Zhou Kexin's hand and walked outside, with Hua Lingwei following behind them.
Chen Haoxuan and Zhou Kexin got into the car. Just as Hua Lingwei was about to get in, Zhou Kexin suddenly spoke to her, saying, "Vivi, could you drive the car back for me?" She then took out the keys.
Hua Lingwei took the keys and watched Chen Haoxuan and the others leave. She felt a pang in her heart; she really wanted Chen Haoxuan to take her home because this might be the last time.
At the entrance, Chen Yina saw Hua Lingwei lost in thought. She knew why Hua Lingwei was dazed and said, "Is this your good friend? For the person she likes, she just leaves you behind."
Hua Lingwei turned around and asked Chen Yina, "Nana, can you tell me how you got together with Chen Haoxuan?" It had only been a day and a half since they returned, and now they were already saying they were a couple. She was very curious about how they developed so quickly.
"That's easy. Brother Xuan has always liked me. The reason he didn't agree before was that he was worried my parents would oppose it. Yesterday we went back to ask my parents, and they fully supported me being with Brother Xuan. Also, let me tell you secretly, Brother Xuan said that after we graduate, we will get married." Chen Yina said proudly. Anyone would feel proud to have someone as outstanding as Chen Haoxuan.
"I'm really envious of you," Hua Lingwei said with envy. She regretted not being more proactive when she sensed Chen Haoxuan's feelings for her earlier. If she had acted on it without considering Zhou Kexin's feelings, perhaps Chen Haoxuan would have been hers.
"Vivi, you're so beautiful; you'll definitely meet your destined prince charming in the future," Chen Yina said earnestly to Hua Lingwei. She had a good impression of Hua Lingwei because she wasn’t like Zhou Kexin, who always opposed her.
"Finding a prince charming is easier said than done," Hua Lingwei said dejectedly. Feeling down, she walked over to Zhou Kexin's Ferrari, opened the door, climbed in, and drove off without saying goodbye.
Chen Haoxuan hadn't driven far when Zhou Kexin seriously said to him, "Chen Haoxuan, drive to the outskirts; I have something to say to you."
Chen Haoxuan seemed to understand what Zhou Kexin wanted to do and replied, "Let's just talk at your house."
"No, I want to go to the outskirts. If you don't go, I'll jump out of the car. I really will!" Zhou Kexin said with a serious expression.
"The door is locked electronically; you can't get out," Chen Haoxuan replied calmly.
"You can't jump out? Then I'll cause trouble. If I can't be with you in life, then I want to be with you in death," Zhou Kexin said tearfully. She seemed frantic as she reached for the steering wheel, appearing as if she truly wanted to perish together with Chen Haoxuan and become ghostly partners in the afterlife.
"Are you crazy? Stop it now, or you'll really hit a car." Chen Haoxuan controlled the steering wheel with his left hand while his right hand struggled to block Zhou Kexin.
Since Chen Haoxuan needed to focus on driving, he wasn't quite sure which part of Zhou Kexin he was blocking with his right hand. Suddenly, he noticed that Zhou Kexin had stopped causing a scene. At the same time, he realized he was holding something soft. Having experienced grabbing Chen Yina before, he knew what it was.
Chen Haoxuan pretended not to know. He withdrew his right hand and said, "Let's talk when we get to your house."
"You touched my body, so you have to take responsibility," Zhou Kexin said with a tearful tone. At this point, she didn't care about anything else; even if Chen Haoxuan called her despicable, she would accept it because she loved him so deeply.
"I didn't touch anything," Chen Haoxuan played dumb.
"You did; you touched my chest," Zhou Kexin insisted.
"I didn't say anything," Chen Haoxuan continued to act oblivious.
Zhou Kexin got angry and suddenly lunged at Chen Haoxuan, constantly distracting him from driving.
Chen Haoxuan's car swerved on the road, scaring countless vehicles into taking detours. Fortunately, he still had some driving skills; otherwise, it could have ended in disaster. To make Zhou Kexin stop her antics, Chen Haoxuan reluctantly agreed to her request. "Stop it already; I promise I'll take you to the countryside, okay?" Chen Haoxuan shouted.
