"What are you talking about? Who has gotten rich off their daughter? Don't make wild accusations." Li Ping said angrily to Li Xinjiao, understanding what Li Xin meant. Li Xin implied that their current lifestyle was entirely due to her daughter seducing Chen Haoxuan.
"Am I wrong? If your daughter hadn't seduced that brat, would you have your current life?" Li Xin sneered, skilled at pouring cold water on others.
"People like you are the reason Xuan doesn't acknowledge you. If it were me—I wouldn't acknowledge you either," Li Ping retorted angrily.
"If he wants to acknowledge me—I wouldn't want to acknowledge him! You go tell him that the place he lives in now was left by my husband's ancestors, and considering we raised him all these years, he should honor us with One Hundred Million RMB," Li Xin said excitedly. Her hands trembled as she mentioned One Hundred Million RMB. How long would it take to spend that?
"That house was given to him when you cut ties with him, so you have no right to demand money from him," Li Ping said angrily. Li Xin was the most heartless mother she had ever seen, abandoning her own son while extorting him.
"I gave birth to him, raised him, and paid for his education. Was it easy for me? If he were broke—I wouldn't ask him for anything. But now that he has money—so much that he can't spend it all—shouldn't we, as his parents, receive some financial support from him?" Li Xin replied coldly.
"Continuing to talk to someone like you will drive me crazy. Your business is not my concern; if you want money, go talk to Xuan yourself," Li Ping said before leaving. Now she no longer had to struggle with whether or not to invite Li Xin because someone like her wasn't worth Chen Haoxuan's invitation.
"Remember to tell that brat that if he doesn't bring the money tomorrow, I'll go find him myself," Li Xin shouted at Li Ping's retreating figure.
Li Ping didn't turn around; upon hearing Li Xin's words, she walked even faster. She worried that she might act impulsively and honestly wanted to rush up to the second floor of Li Xin's house and kick her a few times.
Li Ping continued distributing invitations in the village. After handing out all the invitations, she returned home. When she got home and saw that Chen Haoxuan wasn't there, she decided to go look for him at his house.
Li Ping found Chen Haoxuan in the living room of his villa, chatting with her daughter Chen Yina. She approached them and said to Chen Haoxuan, "Xuan, I ran into your mom while I was out distributing invitations; she—she..." Li Ping was worried that Chen Haoxuan would feel sad, which made it difficult for her to finish her sentence.
"Auntie, did that woman scold you again? Just ignore her; treat what she says as nonsense," Chen Haoxuan comforted Li Ping. He knew what kind of person his mother was; whenever he and Chen Yina were around, his mother would always criticize them.
"Xuan, it's like this. When I was out sending invitations, I passed by your mother's house and ran into her. She asked me to tell you that you were born to her, raised by her, and she supported your education. The house you are living in now was also provided by them, so she wants you to give them One Hundred Million RMB as repayment," Li Ping explained.
Hearing this, Chen Haoxuan smiled, his expression strange, a mix of laughter and tears. He said, "Did they not think that I've already cut ties with them? This house is my private property and has nothing to do with them. Moreover, from the day they abandoned me, I severed all relations with them. I owe them nothing, and they owe me nothing. If they want to get something from me, ha, dream on."
"Xuan, she also said that if you don't send her the money, she will come looking for you tomorrow, and she might cause a scene," Li Ping warned anxiously.
"Causing a scene? You can rest assured about that. I have thirty-five retired soldiers in my villa, each one capable of taking on ten people. If they want to make trouble, they better bring a hundred people; otherwise, I won't even bother with them," Chen Haoxuan boasted.
"Brother Xuan, why not just give them a few tens of thousands? You know how they are; they won't be satisfied unless they reach their goal," Chen Yina suggested, choosing to take a step back for peace.
"She is asking for One Hundred Million RMB, and you suggest giving her a few tens of thousands of RMB. Don't you think that's too big of a gap? Her ambition is so great; if you only give her that little amount, it will feel like an insult to her. They might cause even more trouble or think I've softened up and push me for more money. That's how I see it; I won't give them a single cent. If they dare to make trouble, I'll make them pay the price," Chen Haoxuan said sternly.
"Alright then! I hope when your mother comes looking for you tomorrow, you'll be patient; otherwise, it might affect your banquet preparations," Li Ping reminded with concern.
"I understand, thank you for your concern, Auntie," Chen Haoxuan replied outwardly, but inwardly he coldly thought: "If Li Xin dares to cause trouble tomorrow, I'll make sure she knows there's no remedy for regret in this world."
Li Ping went back; she still needed to help her husband! He was fully responsible for organizing the banquet for Chen Haoxuan, inviting everyone from the village. This was a big event and required many people to help.
Now the villagers of Chen Family Village were asking each other: "Did you receive an invitation from Chen Haoxuan?"
As for Li Xin, she needed to go somewhere lively; playing mahjong was essential in her life. Not long after meeting Li Ping, she went out to play mahjong. However, she returned shortly after with a dark expression filled with anger. She was furious! Every person she met while out asked her if she had received an invitation from Chen Haoxuan.
When she replied no, others laughed at her—her son was hosting a banquet inviting the whole village while his own mother was not invited. It felt as if Li Xin's family wasn't part of Chen Family Village. Because of Chen Haoxuan's announcement that all villagers would attend on the 19th, it was clear they were also part of the village but were blatantly ignored without an invitation.
After returning home, Li Xin kept waiting for Chen Haoxuan to deliver the money. However, as it grew late into the night, Chen Haoxuan still had not shown up with the cash. Li Xin felt a surge of anger! She knew that Chen Haoxuan's family had hired many security guards, and to increase the pressure on him, she decided to have her son invite dozens of thugs to back her up.
