Chen Haoxuan saw Zhou Kexin and noticed they were silent, so he asked, "What's wrong with you?"
"Just now, Chen Yina's mom warned us not to ruin your happiness with Chen Yina," Zhou Kexin pouted, displeased.
"Oh, I see," Chen Haoxuan replied, looking enlightened.
"Aren't you going to comfort us? We just went through something unfair!" Zhou Kexin said playfully.
"What should I say to comfort you? Encourage you to break me and Nana apart or tell you to give up like Aunt Li said?" Chen Haoxuan looked at Zhou Kexin and said lightly.
Hua Lingwei finally spoke up, teasingly saying to Chen Haoxuan, "Chen Haoxuan, I never said I liked you. Why are you using the word 'you' for both of us?" Saying this made Hua Lingwei feel very conflicted inside; she was lying.
"Sorry, that was a slip of the tongue. My apologies," Chen Haoxuan said apologetically to Hua Lingwei. This was what he wanted to see from her. Chen Haoxuan was indeed flirtatious, but he had principles; he didn't like girls who were sad. Of course, if Hua Lingwei could willingly be his lover like Zhou Kexin, he might consider accepting her.
Zhou Kexin stood up and walked over to Chen Haoxuan, taking his hand and pulling him up from the sofa. Looking at him affectionately, she said sweetly, "Chen Haoxuan, take me to your room; I have something to discuss with you."
Chen Haoxuan could guess what Zhou Kexin wanted! He nodded and said, "Okay."
He led Zhou Kexin to his room, leaving Hua Lingwei alone in the living room. Hua Lingwei felt unhappy; she had grown up with Zhou Kexin and wondered what was so important that it required her absence. The more she thought about it, the more conflicted she became. After a while, seeing that Chen Haoxuan and Zhou Kexin hadn't come out yet, she decided to check on them.
Hua Lingwei tiptoed to Chen Haoxuan's door and pressed her ear against it. She heard heavy breathing and became curious about what they were doing. Were they tired?
Gently pushing the door, she found it wasn't locked and peeked inside. A buzzing sound filled her mind as it went blank; she—she actually saw Chen Haoxuan and Zhou Kexin doing that on the bed. She couldn't imagine that Chen Haoxuan and Zhou Kexin were those kinds of people.
She saw Zhou Kexin looking happy while doing that with Chen Haoxuan, not as if she were being forced. It seemed that Chen Haoxuan really liked Zhou Kexin and was gentle with her. A question echoed in her mind: "Why, why...?"
Hua Lingwei still held onto the doorknob as she struggled with the situation between Chen Haoxuan and Zhou Kexin. She forgot her own predicament; unconsciously, her hand pushed the door slightly open, making a creaking sound.
"Who?" Chen Haoxuan thought, looking toward the door.
"Ah— I didn't see anything," Hua Lingwei jumped at Chen Haoxuan's words. In her nervousness, she blurted out something that was both funny and frustrating. She closed the door, leaned against it, and covered her heart, which was racing uncontrollably.
Inside the room, Zhou Kexin covered her alluring body with a blanket and nervously asked Chen Haoxuan, "Chen Haoxuan, we weren't seen just now, were we?"
Chen Haoxuan quickly put on his pajamas, not even having time to wear his underwear. As he rushed outside, he replied to Zhou Kexin, "I think it was Hua Lingwei."
"Oh, as long as it was Vivi, that's fine. If it were someone else, that would be terrible." Zhou Kexin said with relief while lying on the bed. Since Hua Lingwei knew she liked Chen Haoxuan, she should be able to understand why she acted that way.
Chen Haoxuan chased after her and saw Hua Lingwei coming down the stairs. He shouted loudly, "Vivi, stop!"
Hearing Chen Haoxuan's voice, Hua Lingwei's body stopped uncontrollably; perhaps she really wanted to hear Chen Haoxuan's explanation!
Chen Haoxuan reached the bottom of the stairs and seriously asked Hua Lingwei, "Vivi, what did you just see?"
Hua Lingwei didn't turn around. Her voice trembled with tears as she asked back, "What do you think I should have seen?"
"I don't care what you saw; I hope you can keep this a secret for me," Chen Haoxuan said earnestly.
Hua Lingwei turned around, her eyes filled with tears as she looked at Chen Haoxuan and cried out, "Didn't you say you were a gentleman? Why would you do something like this?"
"I am a gentleman, but I'm also a normal man. If someone comes to me willingly, should I resist? Besides, I actually like her. If it weren't for Nana, I might have chosen her. Don't call me a bad guy; both of us are willing participants. No one forced anyone. We've agreed to keep this relationship for now; when she finds someone she likes, she can leave me anytime," Chen Haoxuan explained.
"I don't believe it! You must have deceived Zhou Kexin's feelings to get her into bed!" Hua Lingwei shouted angrily at Chen Haoxuan.
Fortunately, at this time, Jiang Dong and Chen Yina were out entertaining guests; otherwise, if they had heard it, Chen Haoxuan would have had a headache.
"Come in and talk," Chen Haoxuan said to Hua Lingwei.
"I'm not going up," Hua Lingwei stubbornly replied.
Chen Haoxuan took a firm approach, pulling Hua Lingwei into the living room on the second floor. He even locked the door behind them. What was he planning? Why lock the door? Did he want to force himself on Hua Lingwei?
Hua Lingwei watched as Chen Haoxuan locked the door and stepped closer to her. She kept retreating until she reached the edge of the sofa. She stammered, "Chen Haoxuan, what do you want? I’m telling you, I’m not Zhou Kexin. If you’re thinking about that—then I’ll die right here!"
"That—what do you mean by that?" Chen Haoxuan smirked.
"You know, that thing you just did with Zhou Kexin," Hua Lingwei explained, seemingly worried that Chen Haoxuan wouldn’t understand what she was referring to.
"Your imagination is quite rich. I already told you, I never force anyone to do what you think. I only do that with people I like, do you understand? If you don’t like me, even if you pointed a gun at my head, I wouldn’t do that with you. So don’t be so nervous; I just want to have a proper conversation with you," Chen Haoxuan said calmly.
Having retreated to the edge of the sofa, Hua Lingwei had nowhere else to go. She plopped down on the sofa and pitifully said to Chen Haoxuan, "What exactly do you want? You harmed Zhou Kexin and now you want to harm me too. Boohoo… I hate you so much."
