"I will, once I recover, I will kneel before him and ask for his forgiveness," Chen Zhenghao said seriously. He was a very honest person before he got married; it was after marriage that he changed for the worse. Strictly speaking, he was led astray by Li Xin.
Li Ping stood up and said, "Then I'll take my leave. I still need to go back and cook for Xuan and the others!"
"Wait a moment, please help me give this photo to Haoxuan and tell him I'm sorry," Chen Zhenghao said as he handed Li Ping a photo of his mother from her younger days, feeling ashamed.
"I'll talk to Xuan for you; don't worry!" Li Ping smiled.
As Li Ping left Chen Zhenghao's hospital room, she took out her phone to call Chen Haoxuan. "Hello, Xuan, where are you right now?"
Chen Haoxuan's voice came through the phone, "I'm at the entrance of People's Hospital; you'll see me as soon as you come out."
"I'm on my way," Li Ping said as she quickly walked outside, eager to tell Chen Haoxuan about how he resembled Chen Zhenghao's mother.
Once outside People's Hospital, Li Ping got into Chen Haoxuan's car. As soon as she sat down, she pulled out the photo of Chen Zhenghao's mother and handed it to Chen Haoxuan. "Take a look at this."
Chen Haoxuan received the photo with an expressionless face. He felt very tired after having so much blood drawn; if it weren't for his strong willpower, he might have already fainted. When he saw the person in the photo clearly, he curiously asked, "Huh? Why does this woman look so much like me? Also, judging by how old this photo looks, it must be from a long time ago. Who is she?"
"Take a guess," Li Ping said with a mysterious smile.
"There are many people in this world who look alike, so if you don't say anything, I'll just let it go! Buckle up; I'm going to drive now," Chen Haoxuan pretended to be indifferent.
"Wait a minute, this is a photo of your grandmother when she was young. You are your father's biological son; the reason you don't resemble your parents is that you look like your grandmother," Li Ping explained.
Chen Haoxuan couldn't help but touch his cheek with his left hand while holding a photo in his right hand, staring at it and muttering to himself, "No wonder I look so handsome; it's because I resemble my grandmother."
"Xuan, your parents regret it now. Your dad even said that once he gets better, he will kneel in front of you and ask for your forgiveness," Li Ping said with a smile.
"Kneel? Hmph, who cares about his kneeling? If kneeling could make up for over twenty years of mistakes, then I might as well kneel to him," Chen Haoxuan said angrily as he started the car and drove towards Chen Family Village.
"Alas..." Li Ping sighed, thinking that perhaps Chen Zhenghao and the others had hurt Chen Haoxuan too deeply, which was why he was unwilling to forgive them.
After returning to Chen Family Village and dropping off Li Ping, Chen Haoxuan locked himself in the villa, refusing to eat and instructing Jiang Dong and the others not to disturb him. Inside the villa, Chen Haoxuan leaned against the sofa in the living room, staring blankly at a photo. His mood was conflicted; when he was reborn in this era, everyone he knew believed he wasn't born to Chen Zhenghao and his wife, and even he thought so. Now that there was solid evidence before him, he found the situation quite amusing.
A couple had always suspected their son was someone else's child, and just when their relationship with their son reached its lowest point, they discovered that their son was indeed theirs. Everyone doubted it, yet everyone was wrong. "Now that I know my identity, should I laugh or cry?" Chen Haoxuan said with a bitter smile.
"I find it strange; my grandmother is so beautiful, how could she give birth to such an ugly son?"
"If the previous Chen Haoxuan were still around and knew he wasn't a bastard, would he be happy? Would he forgive his parents...?" Chen Haoxuan mumbled to himself while alone in the living room.
Chen Haorong was currently with his wife in H Province. He often called his friends in Pingyuan County to discuss the situation regarding Chen Haoxuan. From his friends, he learned that Chen Haoxuan had been doing nothing lately as if he had been forgotten. He also knew that his father had been so angry that he ended up in the hospital. Although he had his parents' phone numbers, he didn't call to comfort them nor did he send any money for his father's medical expenses because he had decided to sever ties with them.
Chen Haorong was now running a supermarket in H Province. Initially, he wanted to open a shopping mall but didn't have enough money, so he started with a supermarket instead. He didn't tell his friends about opening the supermarket because he feared that if Chen Haoxuan found out, he might hire someone to kill him or start a similar business nearby like before. Little did Chen Haorong know that if Chen Haoxuan found out, he would indeed use business tactics to drive him out.
In the afternoon, Chen Haoxuan took a walk in Chen Family Village to clear his mind. As he passed under a large Banyan Tree, he encountered a group of villagers of both genders who were enjoying the shade from the hot weather. When the villagers saw Chen Haoxuan approaching, they greeted him enthusiastically, and he smiled back.
One villager called out to him, "Xuan, when will you start buying mountain goods again?" It had been a long time since Chen Haoxuan purchased mountain goods, which had returned the villagers' lives to a simple routine. Having tasted success before, they now eagerly awaited Chen Haoxuan's return to buying mountain goods so they could earn some living expenses.
"Except for bamboo, we won't accept anything else," Chen Haoxuan said.
"Xuan, we all know you're good at business. Do you have any ideas on how we can make a little money? If not, at least help us find a way to earn some extra cash regularly!"
"Yes! Xuan, please help us out with some suggestions!"
"Xuan, we could all work for you if that helps..." The villagers were eager for Chen Haoxuan to lead them to wealth.
"What you care about most is agriculture. How about this: raise some chickens and ducks, but they must be free-range. If possible, let the chickens roam in the mountains and the ducks in the river. Don't raise too many; each of you can keep about ten. When they grow up, come to me, and I'll buy them all," Chen Haoxuan suggested. He was now doing business with many people, all of whom were wealthy. They were tired of gourmet food and found fruits too cheap, while wines were too expensive. Local specialties were different; they had meaning and uniqueness. Even if Chen Haoxuan couldn't send out that many local products, he could sell them in his supermarket!
