"Don't drive yet," Chen Haoxuan shouted at the driver.
Chen Haoxuan left, leaving Leah and the Private Detective she had hired. She sat on the ground crying, her heart truly aching from the pain caused by Chen Haoxuan. She had anticipated that he would reject her or even scold her, but she never expected him to threaten her with her family's business. She couldn't understand what was wrong with her that made Chen Haoxuan dislike her so much. Was it just because she was American?
The Private Detective spoke up, "Miss Leah, if he doesn't accept you, it's his loss. Don't be sad. You're so beautiful and kind; you'll find a better man than him in the future."
"A better man than him? Is there really one out there? I can't think of anyone else as excellent as he is. I know he doesn't want to hurt me, which is why he treats me this way, but he doesn't realize that the more he acts like this, the more I like him," Leah said through her tears.
The Private Detective asked curiously, "Miss Leah, why do you say that? If he doesn't want to hurt you, would you really say such cold-hearted things?"
"You're still a Private Detective? If you don't understand this, what are you doing as a detective? Just think about it; if I keep loving him, I'll waste my life. To put it seriously, it could ruin my life. He thinks he's doing this for my own good by making me hate him to lessen my feelings for him. But I'm not sure—if I keep pursuing him, will he really harm my family's business?" Leah explained sadly.
"Miss Leah, regardless of whether he will harm your family's business or not, you shouldn't pursue him anymore. After all, he already has a girlfriend. If you insist on pursuing him, aren't you just trying to break them apart?" the Private Detective advised.
"I know! But I love him so much! What can I do? If you ask me to give him up, I'll be very sad and lose motivation in life. I remember my dad once told me that people are selfish, so there's nothing wrong with pursuing my own happiness," Leah said tearfully.
Meanwhile, Chen Haoxuan's two bodyguards were blaming him: "Boss, why did you treat Leah like that? No matter what, she clings to you because she loves you! If you don't like her, you could just ignore her; there was no need to threaten her with her family's business!"
"Exactly! Boss, you don't know how pale Leah's face went when you said that. She looked seriously hurt by your words."
"You two don't understand anything. You say I should ignore her; let me ask you this! When have you ever seen me pay attention to her? What I just did was for her good and mine as well. Think about it! If she continues like this, my girlfriend might misunderstand things, and Leah will keep getting hurt by love. To resolve this, I must kill any feelings she has for me," Chen Haoxuan explained.
"Boss, you're a big shot; having multiple wives is normal. Why not just take her? She's a real beauty," one of the bodyguards driving suggested.
"There are plenty of women who like me. If I were to take all the beautiful ones who like me, I definitely wouldn't last long," Chen Haoxuan said seriously.
On the passenger seat, Xiaodou turned around curiously and asked Chen Haoxuan, "Boss, why is that?"
"Think about it. If there are many women around you, even your closest friends will eventually become distant. So it's best not to have too many romantic encounters, understand?" Chen Haoxuan replied with a sly smile.
Suddenly, the bodyguard driving spoke up, "Boss, it seems Miss Leah's car has followed us again."
Chen Haoxuan turned to look and indeed saw Leah. He shook his head helplessly and said, "Pull over to the side of the road."
The car stopped at the roadside, and Leah's vehicle parked right in the middle of the road, clearly coming to find Chen Haoxuan.
Chen Haoxuan got out of the car and leaned on the roof, watching Leah run towards him with a helpless expression.
When Leah saw Chen Haoxuan, she smiled brightly, perhaps because she had come to a realization! She hurriedly ran towards him, joyfully calling out, "Chen Haoxuan!"
At that moment, a racing car sped towards them. By the time Chen Haoxuan noticed, it was already too late; the racing car crashed into Leah. He quickly shouted to her, "Leah, watch out for the car!" while rushing towards her in an attempt to save her.
Typically, cars would slow down when they see someone in the middle of the road, but this racing car did not; instead, it accelerated.
Leah did not stop in her tracks; she believed no one would dare to hit her since causing death would come with severe consequences. With a loud crash, Leah was thrown into the air.
The racing car showed no signs of slowing down, raising suspicions that this was a deliberate act of murder.
Chen Haoxuan caught Leah as she fell from the air. He felt ashamed for not being able to save her and blamed himself for not being more attentive; if he had noticed sooner, Leah wouldn't have been in danger.
Chen Haoxuan shouted angrily at his bodyguard, "What are you standing there for? Hurry up and chase the murderer! Remember, I want him alive."
His bodyguard quickly drove off to pursue the racing car, and Leah's private detective also joined the chase.
Suddenly, Chen Haoxuan realized that with the car gone, he had no way to take Leah to the hospital. Just as he was feeling anxious, Leah opened her eyes. Weakly, she said to Chen Haoxuan, "Chen! I... I'm here to say goodbye. I've made my decision; I'm going back to the United States and will never come back to China. I came to find you because... because I want to ask you to fulfill a wish of mine: kiss me. Your kiss will make me feel happy, so I want to leave China with that happiness."
"I agree." Chen Haoxuan readily accepted; it was just a kiss, nothing too serious.
Cough cough cough... Leah coughed a few times, and with that cough, blood came out. This indicated that she had suffered severe internal injuries.
"Are you okay? You need to hold on; I'll take you to the hospital right away," Chen Haoxuan said with concern.
Chen Haoxuan was furious; normally, there were countless cars on the road, but now he had waited several minutes without seeing a single one.
Leah felt very weak; she could not feel her body. She knew she was close to death and was unwilling to die like this—Chen Haoxuan hadn't kissed her yet! She hurriedly said to Chen Haoxuan, "Chen Haoxuan, I'm about to give up. Hurry!! Kiss me, let me leave with your kiss; it might be the happiest moment of my life." After speaking, Leah coughed up more blood.
Chen Haoxuan laid Leah down gently, letting her upper body rest in his embrace. He took her wrist to check her pulse; it was already very weak—so weak that he could barely feel it.
