Ian ran wildly, finally hiding among a cluster of tall Red Corals.
Xia Yangyang chased after him, panting and feeling uneasy as she looked at the endless expanse of Red Corals.
She kept calling Ian's name, searching for traces in the sand. Squeezing through the winding narrow gaps, she finally spotted a small figure curled up in a corner, wiping away tears.
However, before she could act, her pupils suddenly constricted, and she shouted, "Ian!"
Ian was startled and shivered, preparing to run again, but Xia Yangyang grabbed him tightly. Ian angrily kicked at Xia Yangyang with his Tentacle, but even when he hit her, she didn't let go, holding him with an unyielding grip.
Ian was pulled along as she ran out. Where was she taking him? How could she disrupt his entire life just like that?
In a fit of anger, Ian opened his mouth and bit her.
Xia Yangyang did not release her hold. After a while, a loud thud echoed from outside.
Ian jumped in surprise as a dirty hand lifted his cloak from the outside. He was tightly embraced by Xia Yangyang.
"It's okay, it's okay, don't be afraid."
Following his gaze, they saw a more than 3-meter-long Electric Eel lying on the ground, struggling for breath.
At that moment, Ian's breath caught in his throat, and his heart raced. Xia Yangyang put away a hammer.
Seeing Ian in a daze and thinking he was scared, she gently stroked him.
Ian turned his head with wide eyes, trembling.
Xia Yangyang's heart melted in an instant. She tried to keep her voice steady: "No more running around, okay? Let's go back with Mommy."
"I don't need you to take care of me. You're not my mom. Just because you saved me means I should forgive you? You didn't raise me; you threw me into the sea and ignored me for three years. I won't recognize you as my mom."
Xia Yangyang understood where his heart was tied. "If you don't acknowledge me as your mother, then why do you secretly bring me things?"
Ian's face turned red. "That was for my father. If you don't believe me, ask him. I don't eat those things. I'm the only one down in the sea; can't I just carry them for fun? Don't get ahead of yourself; it's not for you."
The mother and son bickered for a while, making Ian so upset that he almost cried.
Xia Yangyang slowly focused, her eyes shimmering with tears. "I'm sorry, Ian."
Those light words felt heavy as a thousand pounds on Ian's heart.
"I'm sorry; I shouldn't have kept avoiding my responsibilities. You had the courage to come find me, and yet I let you down."
Ian's small hands had nowhere to go; he seemed on the verge of crying but stubbornly turned his face away, forcing back his tears.
"Give me one more chance, okay? Ian. I've never been a mother before; this is my first time being a mother. Teach me how to be a good mother, alright?"
The tears that Ian had held back for so long finally welled up in his eyes. "I won't easily give you another chance; that would betray my father."
Xia Yangyang sniffed, her heart aching faintly.
"So," Ian suddenly continued, "right now, I'm betraying my father for you."
Xia Yangyang was stunned and momentarily lost for words. She tightened her embrace around him. "Thank you, Ian."
This was the first time she truly felt the unbreakable bond of blood ties.
After three days away, Victor returned to find a scene of mother and son laughing together.
His expression darkened further; it turned out there really were people who could deceive everyone with just sweet words and a hypocritical smile.
The first to see Victor was Xia Yangyang, her smile froze on her face and quickly disappeared.
Little Ian immediately noticed the change in his mother and saw his father looking like a fierce deity. Without saying a word, he firmly held onto his mother.
Victor stood opposite Xia Yangyang, extending his hand towards her, his voice cold and harsh: "Hand it over."
Xia Yangyang frowned slightly, vaguely aware but pretending not to understand: "What?"
Victor impatiently replied, "Humans are cunning. I can't let you hold something so dangerous while being with our son."
He hadn't imprisoned her or ordered her not to speak, considering himself already quite tolerant.
Although she didn't know how Victor found out about her weapon, Xia Yangyang could understand his actions. However, without the sleep hammer provided by the system, how could she protect herself in this treacherous deep sea?
Just as she hesitated, an angry voice came from below them: "Mom is different!"
At that moment, Victor's expression could no longer be described simply as terrifying.
"What do you mean by different?"
His son, whom he had painstakingly raised for three years, had learned to talk back to him after just three days with this woman.
