The proud and arrogant Ocean Monarch's greatest regret in life was banishing that treacherous lover to the trench.
Perhaps it was due to a moment of reckless anger that led to an irretrievable regret for the three of them.
On the first day Xia Yangyang was imprisoned in the Mariana Trench, she began her plan to exchange hearts with Little Ian.
However, the prerequisite for making a deal with the Black Witch hidden deep in the trench was that she first had to cleverly escape from the Mine Slave Group controlled by Victor.
As a human, Xia Yangyang was notorious even among the ocean creatures' slave population.
Moreover, she was unable to lift or carry anything; even a casual whip from the Overseer could leave her bedridden for half a day.
But her only advantage was that she did not eat ocean food; she could get by on some land-based seaweed and small shrimp. She seemed to anticipate her fate and gave away her surplus food to the strongest Big Sister among the slaves, thus gaining her protection.
As time went on, her remaining food accumulated more and more, and she began selling it within the slave community.
Gradually, her business grew larger, moving from selling food to trading goods. Later on, she often pondered matters related to the Black Witch, spending days locked in her cell.
Until one day, when Big Sister hadn’t seen her for three consecutive days, she went to check on her resting place and found her lying on the bed with her back to the door, fast asleep. Upon closer inspection, she realized it wasn’t Xia Yangyang at all; it was a tattered black cloth wrapped around a stone.
It was no big deal to lose a slave in the pit, but the Overseer would never have thought that one day the monarch would personally come to find this human.
The Overseer timidly stated, “That human just arrived a few days ago and died. She ran into the trench herself; she probably encountered some monster and died at the bottom of the trench.”
It was Big Sister who rushed out from among the slaves: “No! Yangyang is missing! Those dead Overseers must be coveting her goods. If Yangyang is dead, it’s their fault.”
"Don't speak nonsense."
Big Sister pointed aggressively at the Overseer, "Every time you see Yangyang selling something, you use the excuse of inspection to take all the good stuff for yourself. You're probably greedy and lecherous. I even caught you sneaking into Yangyang's room at midnight, forcing her to be your mistress, didn't I?"
Victor turned his head with a half-smile, "You don't know that human was once with me?"
A cold sweat broke out on the Overseer's back, and he immediately fell to the ground, repeatedly knocking his head.
He knocked for a long time before Victor lazily yawned, "Since you say you deserve to die, if I don't punish you, it would make you lose face."
The Overseer realized something was wrong too late.
In the next moment, a live fish was crushed into a mist of blood.
Victor had discovered a day ago that he could no longer sense Xia Yangyang through the seawater and suspected she had done something.
Today, upon checking, it was indeed true.
She had been running away for so many days; everything she said about repentance and love was false, all false.
Victor stared blankly ahead, his heart as cold as ice.
"Go to the Black Witch's shop!" he suddenly said. She wouldn't get away from him so easily. If she wanted to escape, he would insist on entangling with her.
The Black Witch's residence was located beneath a forgotten coral reef.
Victor stepped down from the palanquin and entered.
"Your Excellency, it is an honor to have you visit my humble establishment again," a clear female voice rang out.
Victor took two steps back in annoyance and got straight to the point. "Two days ago, a human came to see you. Where is she?"
The last time he sensed Xia Yangyang's presence, it was right here.
The Black Witch looked sincere. "Your Excellency, you know that business relies on trust. If customer privacy gets out, how can I continue my business?"
Suddenly, the Black Witch's voice cut off as Victor swept his hand, lifting her into the air.
"You can run your business however you like, but if you don't tell me where she is, I'll kill you right now."
A glint of coldness flashed in the Black Witch's eyes, quickly replaced by a charming innocence.
"Your Excellency, you may kill me, but once I am dead, all transactions made by this establishment will become void, including those two from three years ago. Don't you care about yourself? Don't you care about Young Ocean Sovereign?"
Victor's icy demeanor cracked slightly as he eased his grip. "Then how will you tell me?"
"Trade, an equal exchange. If you want to know about customer privacy, the price isn't high—just one of your Heart Shield Scales. Oh, I'm sorry, I almost forgot; if you pull this one out, you'll have none left."
