"Everyone, hold on tight."
Sean Sterling reminded them in a low voice, waving his hand to throw out five shimmering Azure Jades. As they spun rapidly, they formed five streaks of light that suddenly shot toward the Silver Rune.
Without a sound, the five Azure Jades quickly shrank into fine ash, and the Silver Rune suddenly blazed with brilliance, its oppressive force causing the void to tremble as if a world was collapsing and being expelled. Bu Mei frowned; under the rapidly increasing pressure, his muscles tensed up, while Ivan let out a muffled groan, his body trembling uncontrollably.
"Go." Sean Sterling stomped his foot, and the Green Dome emitted a strange cry as it surged toward the swirling Ethereal Light that had appeared right in front of the Silver Rune.
Like fish leaping out of water, they transitioned from one world to another. The familiar sensation returned to Bu Xin's mind; this was the third time he experienced this strange and unexplainable feeling. This time, however, he felt as if he was on the verge of understanding something. But in the next moment, that fleeting clarity shattered into pieces.
A violent and terrifying tearing force suddenly struck him. Even with his currently formidable body, he felt an unbearable pain. At that instant of intense agony, the faint sense of understanding that had just emerged in his heart vanished without a trace. Beside him, Ivan's bones creaked as his skin cracked open, bursting forth with a spray of blood.
"Hang in there." Seeing Ivan's dire situation, Bu frowned and shouted softly. Before his voice could carry through, it was distorted by the spatial force and turned into a harsh noise.
"Buzz"
In a daze, it felt like thousands of troops were shouting and clashing. Time during this process seemed to stretch into an instant yet also feel like an eternity.
When all the tearing forces receded like a tide, everything returned to normal. Ivan was drenched in blood, gasping for air with eyes wide open in undisguised fear.
Bu's forehead was slick with sweat. Compared to his first experience passing through the Spatial Teleportation Array, this tearing force was indeed much stronger; however, for him now, it could no longer inflict injury.
Among the three of them, only Sean Sterling remained calm, seemingly unaffected by the tearing force at all. Bu found it hard to imagine how Sean Sterling, with his frail mage physique—despite possessing the physical qualities of a Low-Level warrior—could remain so unfazed by a force that caused him such pain. Was this the essence of a Quasi-Advanced powerhouse?
The space felt like a leisurely corridor of time. Before anyone could savor or reflect on it carefully, the scene shifted abruptly. Bu's world brightened before him; he felt an indescribable sense of ease and comfort as the Ethereal Light vortex behind them slowly contracted—it had completed its transmission and brought them to hover above Sparta City.
"Brent, point the way; let's head straight to the Aldra Family," Sean Sterling commanded, standing proudly atop the Green Dome with a decisive tone.
"Right below us, in that direction," he said, his eyes shining with determination as he pointed towards Sparta City, which lay below like a piece of cheese.
The Green Dome let out a long cry, flapping its massive wings as it dove downwards, the rushing wind dispersing the surrounding clouds like waves crashing upon the sea.
"Ying ying! Ying ying!"
In an instant, they descended from hundreds of feet above. The sprawling streets of Sparta City came into view without any pause. Sean Sterling urged the Green Dome forward, racing towards the noble district where the Aldra Family resided.
A fierce wind swept through, causing chaos in Sparta City.
The enormous figure of the Green Dome, with its fearsome appearance, although still airborne and not yet landed, sent the crowds below into a frenzy. Carriages halted, horses neighed in fear, children cried and scattered, and women screamed in terror. Even some capable warriors stood frozen, their eyes wide with shock.
The Crook Duchy was merely a small nation; aside from the capital city having protective formations, other areas—including the Twelve Great Cities—lacked such defenses. Riding the Green Dome straight towards Yellow Dragon, Sean Sterling and his companions faced no obstacles. Even though some city guards could use crossbows to defend against them, once they recognized Sean Sterling's identity, they dared not act recklessly.
The Seed Selection Tournament had only concluded a week prior. Sean Sterling had led the top three seed contestants through the Spatial Teleportation Array to the capital city. Many had caught a glimpse of the Green Dome when it descended upon Aris Arena.
No one would easily forget such a unique and powerful Flying Contract Beast as the Green Dome. Thus, upon seeing it again, many quickly guessed the identity of its rider. The city guards were even less inclined to attack due to Sean Sterling's presence; this was a privilege granted by status.
At this moment, within the grand hall of the Aldra Family estate, Earl Warren wore a gloomy expression. In front of him stood five Guardians, each wearing a look of distress as they exchanged glances but dared not speak. Among them were Kevin and Bill, both present with expressions revealing a mix of reluctance and helplessness.
"I didn't expect them to arrive so quickly. If we hadn't prepared in advance, we would be completely unaware of our esteemed guests' arrival," a charming female voice suddenly echoed in the hall. Looking over revealed a stunning woman half-reclining on a high seat at the back; her thin lips gave her an air of sharpness—she was none other than the Duchess.
The beautiful Countess smiled lightly, her gaze falling on Warren Earl. She sighed softly, "I warned you before not to be tempted by short-term gains and let that beast go so easily. Now that he has gained power, he holds a grudge against us. With the current situation, he is poised to turn against us."
Her words carried a hint of reproach, and no one in the room dared to respond, all eyes fixed on Warren Earl, waiting for his decision.
"After all my calculations, I still underestimated that boy's abilities. During the Peak Showdown, Duke Habia was forced to agree to ten of his demands, and now he has Sean Sterling from Holy Light Academy as his backing. That boy has truly made a name for himself. I regret not killing him on the spot back then."
A deep voice emerged, like a volcano about to erupt after being suppressed for millennia. Warren Earl's eyes glinted with a chilling light, and his sinister expression instilled fear in those around him.
"Hawk, since Sean Sterling has come to our door, you need not show yourself. With you lurking in the shadows, Sean Sterling will surely be wary. This time, that boy's return is merely for Wendy, that girl." Warren Earl's expression was complex as he shook his head and sighed, "Wendy... once a girl grows up, she cannot be kept at home. If she wishes to follow that boy, I will let her have her way. It's just her identity..."
"However, if I insist on obstructing her and attract Sean Sterling's attention, who knows what might happen?" As he spoke the last part, Warren Earl fell silent, his demeanor mysterious as if he had reservations.
A faint response echoed in the air; it was heard but not seen.
"Father."
Seeing Warren Earl seemingly ready to compromise, Kevin couldn't help but want to say something. However, before he could finish his sentence, an overwhelming pressure suddenly descended upon the entire Aldra Family estate. At the same time this pressure arrived, a hearty laugh resonated from afar—a very familiar voice spread in all directions and reached everyone's ears.
"Warren Uncle, your nephew has successfully claimed the top spot in the Peak Showdown. Today I return to pay my respects to you and express my gratitude for your continuous guidance. I wonder if you still welcome me?"
In the air outside the Aldra Family mansion, Green Dome flapped its wings continuously while Sean Sterling stood on its back with a stern expression. He stood with his hands behind his back as an overwhelming energy radiated from him, creating an immense pressure that spread outward. Following closely behind him was Ivan, who seemed to be caught off guard by the sudden display of power.
"Brent."
As soon as the sound of footsteps faded, a beautiful figure burst out from the Clever Loft within Aldra Manor. Her blue hair flowed like a dream, dancing lightly in the wind. Beneath the strands that carried the fragrance of youth, her delicate face bore a hint of sorrow, making her look pitifully fragile.
"Sister, Earl Warren Edra has instructed that you must not step out of the room without his permission today."
At the moment the girl appeared, a voice filled with respect yet tinged with coldness suddenly rang out. It was a Middle-Aged Guard who had been waiting outside the loft.
"Does Father still not agree?"
The girl's voice came out as if in a daze, filled with confusion and helplessness, like the lament of fallen petals caught in the wind or the sorrow of winter snow embracing the sunlight.
The girl who rushed out from the Clever Loft was none other than Wendy. She looked haggard; in just seven days, it felt to her as if she had experienced seven years.
So much had happened during this time. She was anxious and even somewhat shaken. She did not know if the person she had been waiting for would truly return to take her away, to wander with her.
At times, unable to withstand her mother's repeated admonitions and seeing her mother's reluctant gaze filled with pity, Wendy felt lost. She longed to leave and escape with the one she loved, but her mother's loving eyes felt like invisible shackles, binding her heart to the Aldra Family. Like a leaf that could be blown away by the wind but remained tethered to its branch, she could not break free from her roots.
"Brent, I'm here. Can you see me? Do you know I'm waiting for you? I'm waiting for you," Wendy gazed into the distance, looking at a figure in mid-air not far away. Her eyes were filled with intense anticipation as she waited for him to come and take her away properly.
