Wendy was found, and Bu's worries were resolved. Ivan returned looking disheveled after the group left Warren Earl.
Bu understood the complexities surrounding Warren Earl's mental transmission. When Sean Sterling cast a questioning glance, Bu simply shook his head and did not disclose anything.
Sean Sterling took it lightly and softly advised Bu to ask for help if needed.
Time passed quickly, and before long, it was noon. The three of them attended a luncheon at the invitation of Warren Earl.
This luncheon was particularly grand due to Wendy's impending departure, yet amidst the grandeur lingered a hint of sorrow from parting. The Second Lady and Daisy, who had not been seen for a while, also made their appearance.
Daisy appeared to be in better spirits than Bu had imagined. Perhaps she had come to terms with her marriage, or perhaps it was because she had never truly liked any man, thus showing little resistance to the marriage arranged by Warren Earl.
However, being a woman, she was emotional. The thought of soon marrying far away in Blue Moon City and her best friend leaving at this moment inevitably brought a sense of loneliness that was hard to shake off. She embraced Wendy and cried, urging her to take care of herself and to visit whenever she could.
As they were about to leave, Wendy's eyes were still red, which made Bu feel a pang of sympathy. Everyone from the Aldra Family, including guards and servants, came out to see them off. Suddenly, the sunlight dimmed, and the wind blew coldly, carrying the chill of winter and the melancholy of parting, creating a sense of wistfulness.
Looking at Warren Earl’s last concerned glance towards Wendy stirred complex feelings within Bu Xin.
This complexity was an indescribable sensation residing deep within Bu Xin; it felt both enlightening and bewildering.
He arrived filled with resentment towards Warren Earl and longing for Wendy. He had pressured Warren Earl to take Wendy away forcefully. Now that things had come to pass, it should have been a gratifying event; however, at this moment, Bu felt no joy—only confusion about human affairs.
Warren Earl had attempted to kill him multiple times through various schemes. If not for Sean Sterling accompanying him this time, Bu thought he would have never seen Wendy again and would have ended up as a cold corpse. This was a great grievance; even though it had been somewhat alleviated due to Wendy's influence, the hatred remained ever-present.
Yet now, for some reason, Bu suddenly felt a strange sympathy for Warren Earl. At some point, the cunning and ruthless Warren Earl took on another dimension in Bu Xin's eyes.
This new aspect reflected the helplessness of a family head burdened with unspoken responsibilities.
It also revealed a father's love for his children; despite their misunderstandings causing him distress, he maintained his usual authoritative demeanor as the family head. Only in his occasional concerned gaze did his other identity as a father emerge—one who buried unspoken hardships in his heart while shielding his children from storms to provide them with as much happiness and care as possible, even if they remained unaware or unable to understand.
"Perhaps everything will become clear once I step into High-Level. What exactly is Wendy's identity? What is the background of the Third Lady in Aldra Family? What secrets does Warren Earl harbor? What has he been meticulously planning or worrying about? To uncover all this, I must first grow stronger."
With a belly full of questions regarding Wendy's origins and diminishing animosity towards Warren Earl, Bu took Wendy's hand and stepped onto the back of Green Dome. Under the watchful eyes of everyone from Aldra Family, they gradually flew away into the distance.
Sitting on the back of the Green Dome, flying through the air at high speed, the Girl appeared calm. Despite this being her first experience flying at such heights, she remained quiet without a single scream. However, seeing her pale complexion made Bu feel a bit worried.
After all, this was just flying in the air. With the wind wall created by Sean Sterling, any Common Person without acrophobia could manage it. The only thing that made Bu uneasy was the upcoming spatial transfer.
Spatial transfer involves large-scale movement across distances, and with Wendy's physical condition, it would be difficult for her to withstand the tearing force of space. If someone with Wendy's frail physique were to undergo such a transfer recklessly, it could very well lead to her demise at the moment of arrival.
Fortunately, Sean Sterling had anticipated this situation and had various means to ensure Wendy's safety. In the imperial capital, less than a hundred feet above the southern Holy Mountain's peak, ripples appeared in the void. A blinding silver light shone like a sun. The wind howled here as if entering another space, split into two halves. A Silver Rune radiating immense pressure floated quietly in the chaotic void, and at its center was a swirling black vortex that fluctuated unpredictably.
Silently, a small black dot emerged from the deep vortex. As it gradually distanced itself, the dot grew larger until finally, when the dark vortex completely converged and vanished, a large green-scaled bird with an ugly fleshy crown appeared.
"Quack quack quack."
Strange cries echoed as the green-scaled bird swooped down through the swirling clouds. On its back were four figures faintly visible, each sitting in different positions.
"Wendy, how are you feeling? Are you hurt?" A man's voice suddenly broke through the howling wind, sounding very concerned.
"Brent, I'm fine; I just feel a bit dizzy but I'm not injured."
A melodious voice like that of a lark responded. Upon closer inspection, it was revealed that the blue-haired girl sitting on the back of the green-scaled bird had spoken.
This blue-haired girl not only had blue hair but also possessed eyes as pure as sapphires. Her delicate eyebrows resembled distant mountains' shadows, and her rosy lips looked like flower petals. What was even more stunning was her aura—like an ethereal orchid or a graceful lotus—especially with a hint of paleness on her face that added to her charm.
The beautiful blue-haired girl was none other than Wendy, who had just left her family with Bu. Beside her were Bu, Sean Sterling, and Ivan.
Upon learning that Wendy was unharmed, Bu sighed in relief but still took out a vial containing Serenity Pills from his Storage Bracelet. He poured one pill into his hand and fed it to her despite her shy expression.
Ivan rolled his eyes and turned his head away to avoid watching this annoying couple. Knowing full well that he had been single for many years, they still chose to flaunt their affection in front of him—wasn't that just deliberately trying to irritate him?
Sean Sterling stood on the shoulder of the Green Dome and felt quite speechless about Bu's fussing over Wendy. Thanks to his earlier protective magic and short-distance spatial transfer, there was no way Wendy could have been harmed; it was merely a normal reaction of dizziness. Yet Bu took out such a precious Serenity Pill for her—this wasn't fussing; it was clearly showing off wealth.
Serenity Pill is indeed an extraordinary elixir. Even though Lange gave it to Bu, there wasn't much of it. As a potion that can quickly restore Mental Power, using it to treat dizziness naturally yields immediate results. After taking it for a moment, Wendy looked much better.
As time passed, Green Dome, carrying four people, gradually approached the North Gate of the imperial capital. Perhaps due to the numerous Contract Beasts that had appeared last time, the arrival of the four did not cause much commotion.
The guards stationed at the city gate were mostly observant individuals. Upon seeing the figures on Green Dome, Sean Sterling and Bu were almost instantly recognized. The leading soldier quickly instructed his subordinates to prepare a carriage and hurriedly led his men forward to greet them.
"Let's go, I'll carry you down." Once Green Dome landed steadily on the ground, Bu smiled mischievously and, without waiting for Wendy to react, wrapped his arms around her delicate waist, leaping down to the ground as she let out a surprised cry.
Ivan rolled his eyes and jumped down after him. Sean Sterling smiled and patted Green Dome on the head, whispering something in its ear before also landing on the ground, allowing Green Dome to let out a few low sounds before soaring away on its own.
Under the respectful welcome of the city guards, Bu and his companions stayed in the city for a brief moment until a well-decorated carriage swiftly approached. The four of them wasted no time getting into the carriage. Ivan quickly shooed away the coachman and took the driver's seat himself, cracking the whip to drive the carriage toward the inner city.
The wheels rolled along as pedestrians stepped aside. Even some nobles changed their expressions upon seeing the insignia on Ivan's carriage and hurriedly made way.
Given Sean Sterling's distinguished status, even at this moment, Bu's position far exceeded that of many nobles from Crook Duchy. The leading soldier guarding the city dared not show any negligence in arranging their transportation and specifically sent subordinates to bring a carriage bearing the Royal Family insignia.
Such carriages were usually reserved for members of the Royal Family. This time, due to the special identities of Bu and Sean Sterling, it allowed driver Ivan to indulge in a bit of excitement, enjoying the thrill of driving recklessly through the imperial capital.
