"Bang bang bang bang"
"It's impossible, this can't be happening. Where did it all go wrong?"
Amidst the chaotic sounds, Bu slowly regained consciousness. He opened his eyes in confusion, his body gradually becoming aware, but along with the return of sensation came excruciating pain that coursed through him like a thousand steel needles piercing his flesh, tearing at his very being.
Bu let out a muffled groan, gritting his teeth. His lips were dry, and beneath him was a puddle of sweat that had accumulated on the ground, a result of the perspiration that had seeped out during his unconsciousness. He hadn't been out for long, but being in the Primordial Hall's Flame Refining Body Formation subjected him to relentless high temperatures, enough to deplete half the moisture in a Human Body within just a few hours.
"You brat, you finally woke up! Quickly tell me, has your physical quality improved?" The moment Bu regained consciousness, Van Lao's keen perception detected it. The old man's voice carried a hint of anxiety as he rushed to Bu's side and yanked him up from the ground.
"You old bastard!" Bu hadn't heard Van Lao's voice until now, and upon hearing it, he became furious. Remembering how roughly he had been treated by this old man and the intense pain that followed after drinking that disgusting potion made him unable to hold back any longer. He cursed loudly and lunged at the old man in a fit of rage.
"Dare to defy me? You must not have suffered enough." Bu's sudden attack caught Van Lao off guard, nearly pulling out a tuft of his beard. This infuriated Van Lao; with a flick of his finger, an energy-formed rope shot out and instantly bound Bu tightly, rendering him immobile.
"You old bastard, old turtle, old immortal pervert, old cunning fox—"
"Shut up!" Van Lao roared angrily, his beard trembling with rage. He had lived for many years without ever being cursed at like this and was on the verge of losing his temper. His wrinkled face turned red as he took out a bottle of Crimson Potion, glaring menacingly at Bu.
The moment the Crimson Potion appeared, Bu wisely fell silent. Well then, when under someone's roof, one must bow their head. Faced with this shameless and uncouth old man, Bu thought it best to show some restraint; going too far would only lead to self-inflicted suffering.
"Now, immediately tell me whether your physical quality has improved or not! Focus and feel it carefully." Van Lao's face darkened as he spoke while uncorking the crimson potion in a blatant display of threat.
Bu Leng snorted and reluctantly closed his eyes, concentrating on entering the Personal Attribute Interface. After a moment, he suddenly opened his eyes wide with an odd expression on his face as he stared blankly at Van Lao in shock.
Seeing Bu's expression caused Van Lao's heart to stir; joy gradually appeared on his face as he hurriedly asked, "Do you feel your physical body has strengthened? Do you feel filled with power? Hahaha! I knew it! I knew the potion wouldn't fail; it had to work! Hahaha! There's no way it could go wrong."
Van Lao was so excited that he danced around without any semblance of dignity befitting an elder or a strong person; the crimson potion in his hand even splashed out due to his exaggerated movements.
Bu wore an odd expression and ignored the ecstatic Van Lao as he once again focused on entering the Personal Attribute Interface. At the bottom of this attribute interface, a line of text appeared as a System notification.
"System Notification: Unknown factors triggered Racial Gift effects; Bloodline Viscount transformation awakened early; Racial Gift advanced."
"Racial Gift has inexplicably advanced. It seems that this unknown factor is very likely the potion that Van Lao made me drink. Before I fell unconscious, I vaguely felt something growing on my back, a sensation like having two extra arms. What is that?"
Bu closed his eyes in contemplation, his mind scanning Racial Gift.
"Racial Gift (Activated): Level 1 Baron Bloodline Transformation, Effect: Increases all attributes by twenty percent, triggers Bloodthirsty Fangs, enters Bloodthirsty State. This state consumes 5 energy points, lasts for five minutes, cooldown time: 0 minutes;
Level Viscount Bloodline Transformation, Effect: Increases all attributes by forty percent, triggers Viscount Bloodwing, allows for aerial flight. This state consumes 10 energy points, lasts for two minutes. Cooldown time: 60 minutes. (Effects cannot stack)"
"Level Viscount Bloodline Transformation Viscount Bloodwing?" Bu suddenly opened his eyes, filled with surprise. This expression of delight was clearly seen by Van Lao, who immediately felt even more pleased with himself, smugly lifting his old face and waiting for Bu's words of admiration and gratitude.
"Old Guy, this potion of yours is truly effective." Bu struggled to move closer to Van Lao, his eyes shining brightly.
"Of course!" Van Lao snorted, feeling pleased as he casually released the energy bindings on Bu, boasting, "Although there was quite a bit of torment during the testing, the benefits are real."
"Hey, hey, hey! You’re getting ahead of yourself. Old Guy, the effect of your potion is not to enhance physical strength at all; it’s completely off the mark." Bu could tell from Van Lao's demeanor that he was getting carried away again and quickly interrupted him impatiently.
"That’s impossible! Are you messing with me?" Van Lao said somewhat displeased, feeling that Bu was mocking him.
"There’s nothing impossible about it. Can't you see that my physical strength hasn’t increased? Although your potion has no effect on enhancing physical strength, it unexpectedly improved the realm of my... uh... one of my Forbidden Techniques. Could it be that the effect of your potion is..."
Bu almost accidentally revealed his Racial Gift, but he didn't say more afterward. However, his shining eyes clearly conveyed a message to Van Lao: he still wanted this potion.
"It improved one of your Forbidden Techniques?" Van Lao widened his eyes and then furrowed his brows tightly, his expression turning skeptical for the first time regarding his alchemical skills.
He had previously checked Bu's physical strength and knew it well. If the potion had no effect at all, Van Lao would refuse to believe or accept it. Now hearing that it had actually improved one of Bu's Forbidden Techniques, although it was far from what he expected, it was still within the realm of acceptance. However, the huge difference between these two effects left Van Lao deep in thought.
"How could this be? How could it be like this? This kid seems to be telling the truth. Moreover, his strange appearance earlier clearly indicated that he unconsciously displayed it after breaking through with that Forbidden Technique. Could it be that my potion really has a problem? That shouldn't be; how could I make such a basic judgment error? It clearly enhances physical strength..."
Van Lao murmured softly to himself, his thoughts somewhat chaotic. He left Bu behind and quickly walked toward the many Alchemical Instruments in the room, seemingly trying to find the reason.
Bu followed curiously and peeked over while pondering the changes brought about by awakening level Racial Gift.
"Two types of Bloodline Transformation states have different effects and cannot be stacked, but they are much better than before awakening. I can decide which transformation to activate based on the strength of my opponent during battle. The only thing to keep in mind is managing the cooldown time.
The attribute gain from Level 1 Baron transformation remains unchanged, but the duration has increased to five minutes, and the cooldown time has been reduced from two hours to half an hour. This will significantly enhance my peak combat power, as for the Viscount transformation...
Bu Xin was overjoyed; his attributes had a 40% Amplification. With Viscount Bloodwing's blessing, he could fly through the air. In this state, not only was his peak combat power stronger, but his survival ability had also increased several levels. As long as he wasn't targeted by a High-Level expert in the future, he was confident he could escape even from a Quasi-Advanced being, provided they weren't a magician.
"Wrong, wrong, all wrong! This is not right; it can't be! The quantities of materials like Demon Face Flower fruit, Jin Qingzi root, and Golden Earth Dragon saliva were all calculated precisely according to the formula. The potions I concocted have been tested multiple times; their effects cannot be wrong! Bring it to me!"
Van Lao fiddled with a pile of Alchemical Instruments for a while, becoming somewhat disoriented. Unable to contain himself, he shouted at Bu, "I'm going to brew another potion right now. You watch closely! After it's done, you drink it! I refuse to believe that this potion—though it's my latest research achievement and I haven't even thought of a name yet—could possibly be wrong."
"Alright, I'll watch. Hurry up and brew it," Bu shrugged indifferently. The unexpected breakthrough of his Racial Gift made him eager for Van Lao to concoct another bottle of that green potion. Although drinking it would involve some painful torment, compared to the significant boost in strength, Bu completely overlooked that minor suffering.
"Your physique is quite strange; your recovery ability seems to exceed others by several times. This newly developed potion of mine is extremely potent; even those with greater physical strength than you would need to lie down for a few days after drinking it. Yet you seem completely fine! Old man has decided to use you for long-term testing.
Of course, you won't miss out on the benefits. If you have any talent in alchemy, I can also teach you some Experience. You can start as an alchemy apprentice."
Van Lao deliberately slowed down his movements, placing several prepared materials into an alchemical instrument shaped like a cauldron for decomposition. He continued rambling on and began introducing Bu to the detailed steps of alchemy, seemingly intent on imparting some alchemical techniques."
