The three guests participating in the auction had all arrived, so there was no need to wait any longer. The Receptionist took out a Transmitter and whispered a few words before smiling and bowing to the three as she exited.
With the absence of the lively beauty who had lightened the atmosphere, the room suddenly became dull. Bu calmly sipped his tea, completely ignoring the disdainful gaze from a man named Berlin. Meanwhile, the tall man in the Black Cloak furrowed his brow, lost in thought.
After about a cup of tea's time, the door was pushed open again, and four people entered the room one after another.
The three turned their gazes simultaneously and noticed that among the newcomers were two members of the Blue Castle Auction House. Judging by their attire, they seemed to be guards maintaining order at the auction house. Both appeared to be middle-aged and looked somewhat drowsy, but occasionally, an aura emanating from them made Bu wary.
"Sending two Intermediate Level 5 experts to maintain order for what seems to be a semi-legendary item indicates that this is a high-tier auction at the Blue Castle Auction House," Bu thought to himself as his gaze shifted to the other two individuals.
Walking in front was a slender man around forty years old, dressed in a wine-red shirt with an elegant black suit over it. His short brown hair was meticulously styled, and he wore a gentle smile on his face. His graceful demeanor was exemplary of nobility.
The other person followed closely beside the slender man. He appeared to be around thirty years old, of average build, wearing a brown vest. His steps were always in sync with those of the slender man. Beneath thick eyebrows, his large, expressive eyes looked extremely alert, suggesting he was akin to a bodyguard.
"Apologies for keeping you waiting. I am the seller of this semi-legendary long spear; you may call me Mr. Arand."
Upon entering the room, the slender man did not take a seat immediately but first bowed slightly to Bu and his companions. Throughout this process, his gentle smile never wavered. His gaze was serious and respectful as he addressed them, and even while bowing, his movements were composed.
"Oh! No worries, Mr. Arand. You are the most gentlemanly noble I have ever met," Bu said. As a vampire who valued noble demeanor, he felt like a crude barbarian compared to this man. He quickly stood up and smiled back at him in respect.
"Hmph," Berlin scoffed arrogantly, casting an even more disdainful look at Bu. In his view, Bu was trying too hard to get close to the seller, which he found distasteful. Given his status, he felt no need to regard this so-called Mr. Arand highly, although he did find some appreciation for Arand's demeanor.
"Mr. Arand, let’s get straight to the point. Could you please bring out that spear for us to see?" The man in the Black Cloak finally spoke up, his gaze fixed intently on Arand as he awaited a response.
"Oh!" Mr. Arand elegantly tapped his forehead with his hand before turning to look at his "bodyguard." After smiling and nodding at him, he walked around the table and took a seat in the central chair of the room—this position was clearly reserved for the seller.
"Please take a look!" The bodyguard-like man waved his right hand over his Storage Ring, and suddenly an exceptionally long box appeared, standing taller than him—almost ten feet high.
The box was made of an unknown dark wood that looked quite heavy and faintly emitted an ancient woody fragrance.
The bodyguard lifted the wooden box and placed it horizontally on the table in front of Bu and his companions before opening it to reveal a long dark blue silk cloth inside. Through the cloth, they could vaguely see the outline of a spear.
"This spear is called Nine Dragons. My master once attempted to refine it again to elevate its rank to legendary level; unfortunately, it ultimately failed. However, even as it is now, this spear is among the finest within the semi-legendary tier; you may take a look."
As he introduced it, the bodyguard lifted the dark blue silk cloth for Bu and his companions to see before stepping back a pace.
In the Blue Castle Auction House, there are many strong warriors maintaining order, and even some wizards hidden in the shadows, so there is little concern about anyone harboring ill intentions and forcibly seizing treasures. As a result, most sellers who come here to consign items feel quite at ease.
The gaze of the three fell upon a spear inside a wooden box, admiring it carefully, with no one making a move to take it first.
This was a spear that gleamed with a golden hue, even the spearhead was golden, giving it an ostentatious appearance.
On the spear shaft, which measured over two meters in length, mysterious alchemical runes were engraved. The arrangement of these runes was extremely clever, resembling nine golden dragons entwined and writhing. The tails of the dragons connected to the spear's end, making the tail formed by the nine dragon tails appear incredibly sharp. Meanwhile, the nine dragon heads converged at the spearhead, exuding a fierce aura as if they were ready to devour.
"What a spear! This Nine Dragon Spear seems to be made entirely of gilded divine wood. It is not only harder than ordinary Xuan iron but also possesses remarkable elasticity. Given that gilded divine wood is inherently heavy, this spear must weigh over a thousand pounds. To wield it effectively would require tremendous strength. Just look at that spearhead—high spine and thin blade—it's clearly a deadly weapon!"
Berlin was somewhat excited, speaking to himself as his eyes sparkled while staring at the Nine Dragon Spear in the box. His previous arrogance was replaced by focus and admiration.
"Your eye for quality is commendable; this spear is indeed crafted from gilded divine wood, including the spearhead. However, more importantly, it contains two taels of refined Geng metal in the spearhead. Its sharpness is nearly unmatched; you might as well give it a try!"
Arand, who had been smiling while observing everyone, spoke up at this moment. As soon as he finished speaking, Berlin stood up excitedly and reached out to take the Nine Dragon Spear from the wooden box without hesitation.
However, before Berlin's hand could touch the Nine Dragon Spear inside the box, another hand shot out faster than his—Speed had picked up the Nine Dragon Spear before him.
"Hmm?" Berlin's smile froze as he turned his head sharply, his eyes blazing with anger as he exclaimed, "What do you mean by this?"
The person who had taken the Nine Dragon Spear was Bu. Upon grasping it, Bu immediately felt its weight; a cool sensation emanated from the spear shaft that invigorated him.
Hearing Berlin's angry reprimand, Bu Mei raised an eyebrow and replied nonchalantly, "What? Is this spear yours?"
"I was allowed to try it first by the seller," Berlin replied initially taken aback but then spoke with confidence.
"Are you an idiot or just immature? We are all bidders here; everyone is equal. There’s no such thing as first come first served; it only matters whose hands are quicker. Unfortunately for you, it seems you're rather clumsy." Bu waved the Nine Dragon Spear a few times playfully, looking at Berlin with disdain.
His words were blunt and unyielding; he clearly remembered Berlin's earlier condescending remarks and disdainful looks. Since Berlin enjoyed being arrogant, Bu decided to be even more audacious and proud in return. If Berlin dared to look down on him, he would respond in a more direct manner.
Bu had never been one to turn the other cheek; if a dog bit him, he would bite back and take a piece of flesh in return—he would never let himself be at a disadvantage.
Holding the ice-cold spear shaft, Bu could distinctly feel that the nine dragon patterns on this spear were constantly gathering energy from the ground as if they were alive. He could sense the undulations of dragon bodies when he touched it. Of course, Bu knew this was merely an illusion; however, this very illusion further proved how precious this Nine Dragon Spear truly was.
If a weapon possesses a spirit, it is considered legendary. The Nine Dragon Spear seems to faintly possess a hint of spirituality, although it is still quite vague.
"I've decided on this Nine Dragon Spear," Bu Shuang said, her eyes sparkling as she suddenly handed the Nine Dragon Spear to a tall man in a Black Cloak beside her. "You should take a look too."
"You..." Berlin watched as Bu directly ignored him, passing the Nine Dragon Spear to another person. His eyes widened, and his chest heaved for a while before he finally calmed down. He looked at Bu Leng and chuckled twice, his gaze filled with resentment.
Arand, sitting in the central position, exchanged glances with the bodyguard. They both smiled wryly; as sellers, it was not appropriate for them to intervene and mediate. Moreover, conflicts among buyers during an auction for the same item could be advantageous for them, allowing them to capitalize on the escalating tension between the two.
A few minutes later, after Berlin had also taken hold of the Nine Dragon Spear and examined it lovingly for a while, Arand cheerfully announced the auction requirements.
"Regarding this Nine Dragon Spear, I believe everyone here is knowledgeable about its worth. You all saw it clearly just now. The starting price is one thousand Fifth-Grade Azure Jade. Each subsequent bid must increase by no less than one hundred. Valuable items can also be used as substitutes for Azure Jade. Ultimately, the highest bidder wins."
"Damn it, the starting price is one thousand Fifth-Grade Azure Jade!" Bu felt an impulse to spit blood; he suddenly realized he was short on funds.
"I bid one thousand five hundred Fifth-Grade Azure Jade!" Seeing Bu's expression change slightly, Berlin sneered and quickly called out a bid of one thousand five hundred Fifth-Grade Azure Jade. He then shot a mocking glance at Bu, seemingly waiting for him to show signs of desperation.
"One thousand six hundred!" The tall man in the Black Cloak spoke in a deep voice. His gaze first fell on Bu and then lingered on Berlin for a moment, a fleeting look of helplessness flashing in his eyes.
