Chapter Eight: The Bright Door Has Been Opened
Wang Guodong stood frozen in place, silent and motionless, upon seeing the documents presented by the Disciplinary Committee personnel. Two staff members from the Disciplinary Committee positioned themselves on either side of Wang Guodong and extended their hands, saying, "Please, Director Wang, let’s not make this difficult."
"Can I finish this meeting?" Wang Guodong trembled as he spoke.
"That’s unnecessary," a member of the Disciplinary Committee replied. "Let someone else take over for you; we need to leave promptly."
Wang Guodong hesitated, still rooted to the spot. He had considered that this day might come, but he never expected it to arrive so swiftly, catching him off guard.
