Chapter 121: Reunion After the Ancient City Battle
Zhang Qiu stepped out of the hospital, and the fresh, crisp air hit him face-on. He greedily took a deep breath. The sunlight poured through the clouds, casting a dazzling glow that enveloped him in a golden hue, making it hard for him to open his eyes. He had to squint temporarily to adjust.

After finishing the call with Yang Yu, Zhang Qiu called Gao Zhi, Wang Zhengxiang, Yao Yu, and Zhao Pingchuan one by one, urging them to hurry to Beilan County Town. It was currently a break period; there were no classes, and everyone had time to come for a meeting. When Jiang Xue was taken away, Zhang Qiu felt hopeless, but now he sensed a flicker of hope reigniting within him—a mysterious force pushing him forward.
Having contacted his friends, Zhang Qiu patiently waited by the roadside as a bus slowly approached and stopped at the station. He paid his fare and boarded the bus heading to Beiluan No. 1 High School.
The distance between the bus stops in the county wasn't far apart, and the bus moved leisurely along its route. Zhang Qiu sat in the back row by the window, feeling the breeze as he gazed outside. At this hour, there were only a few scattered passengers on the bus. Through the window, he watched cars weaving through the streets and pedestrians strolling leisurely by, which made him feel melancholic.
An old man selling vegetables by the roadside, children running down the street, couples walking hand in hand—everyone seemed so happy even those hustling about appeared content. But what about him? Sigh...
The bus arrived at Beiluan No. 1 High School amidst Zhang Qiu's continuous sighs. He got off through the back door and was greeted by a gust of wind that tousled his slightly longer hair. After checking both sides for safety, he walked across the sidewalk.
In the distance, Zhang Qiu spotted Yang Yu's striking red motorcycle parked in front of East City Barbecue. He quickened his pace toward it; just as he reached the entrance, the door swung open from inside.
Yang Yu walked out of the store and immediately gave Zhang Qiu a big hug, exclaiming, "Brother Qiu." This was their first meeting since the fight, and Yang Yu felt particularly close to him.
Zhang Qiu patted Yang Yu on the back and said, "Good brother."
Gao Zhi, Zhao Pingchuan, and Wang Zhengxiang also came over to hug Zhang Qiu one by one. Only Yao Yu was delayed because he lived far away and had to take a bus. As Zhang Qiu looked at the familiar faces, he felt a surge of emotions.

The other brothers also bore their own injuries, though some were hidden under their clothing.
Zhang Qiu's eyes became moist as he deeply bowed to everyone, saying, "Brothers, thank you from the bottom of my heart."
Seeing this, everyone hurried to help Zhang Qiu up. Yang Yu linked arms with Zhang Qiu and led him to the dining table.
The brothers that Yang Yu brought stood up from their seats and shouted in unison, "Brother Qiu." Their loud voices turned the heads of nearby diners, who quickly looked away once they recognized the situation.
Zhang Qiu raised his hands to calm them down, saying, "Brothers, please sit down. Don't be so formal."
The boss of East City Barbecue Restaurant recognized that the main guest had arrived and came over to ask, "Would you like to order?"
"Go ahead," Yang Yu replied.
"Let's wait until Yao Yu arrives before we order," Qiu Wan said to the boss. "For now, bring us some cold beer and peanuts, along with edamame. We'll order the rest later."
"Sure thing," the boss replied with a smile before turning to get the peanuts. He didn't understand why this main guest looked so pale despite it being a gathering of brothers that should be joyful.
"Brother Qiu, where's your wife?" Yang Yu asked as he noticed Zhang Qiu walking over alone from a distance.
"Your sister-in-law... she..." Zhang Qiu lowered his head. "I turned myself in with her."
"Turned yourself in! Did they really call the police? Damn, that's despicable," Yang Yu slammed his fist on the table, causing the utensils to rattle. The boss lady behind the counter glanced over but remained silent.
"It happened this morning. My uncle advised me to turn myself in. After careful consideration and listening to Jiang Xue's opinion, Liu Xiaolong went directly to the police station. The current situation is that Jiang Xue has been detained while Liu Xiaolong and I are out on bail, waiting for summons," Zhang Qiu said calmly, but those who heard it were taken aback.
"Brother Qiu, then you..." Zhao Pingchuan started but didn't know how to continue.
Wang Zhengxiang looked at the pale-faced Zhang Qiu and asked, "Brother Qiu, can't your uncle do anything to save Jiang Xue?"
