Chapter 162: An Unexpected Interference
The Red-Faced Guard fell silent, and Director Zhao maintained a cold expression without responding. The Security Chief pulled the Red-Faced Guard aside and said, "I think we should handle this as Director Zhao suggested."
With the Security Chief speaking up, the Red-Faced Guard had no choice but to keep quiet, despite his reluctance. He glared at Zhang Qiu, silently cursing them both for their luck, thinking that they better not cross paths with him again in the future.
Aside from the Red-Faced Guard, everyone else breathed a sigh of relief, each lost in their own thoughts. Just as Zhang Qiu was about to take Jiang Xue away, the door to the Director's Office was suddenly pushed open from the outside. Zhao Guohong stormed in angrily and immediately began shouting at Zhang Qiu and Jiang Xue.
"Well, well, you two are really getting involved with each other! Did you treat our last conversation as just idle chatter? The college entrance exam is right around the corner, and you still have time for relationships? How embarrassing!"
After venting his frustration, Zhao Guohong turned to Director Zhao and said, "Director, this is my failure in management. I will take responsibility for this. These two students must be dealt with seriously. I will call their parents right now and have them come see what their children are doing at school!"
Zhao Guohong's sudden intrusion shattered the fragile balance that had just been established. Zhang Qiu, Director Zhao, and the Security Chief were all stunned; no one expected Zhao Guohong to interfere like this. Meanwhile, the Red-Faced Guard felt a sense of satisfaction seeing that both the homeroom teacher and his own attitude were aligned in treating this matter seriously.
Zhao Guohong didn't give anyone a chance to speak and went straight to the hallway to make a phone call. Hearing him dial outside the door made Zhang Qiu's heart tighten. He turned to Director Zhao and asked, "Director Zhao, what should we do?"
Director Zhao had no response either. The homeroom teacher was the direct supervisor of the students; if he wanted to call their parents to understand the situation, even the grade director had no reason to stop him. Looking at Zhang Qiu and then at Zhao Guohong who was on the phone at the door, Director Zhao thought to himself, "Well, there's no way to keep this matter from escalating now."
Realizing this, Director Zhao shot a fierce glare at the Red-Faced Guard; it was all his fault for stirring up trouble. Was Zhang Qiu someone who could be easily provoked? His uncle was Police Chief Wang Guodong; that alone was impressive enough. Not to mention that he managed to get Jiang Xue out of trouble with county officials—perhaps his true influence extended far beyond just being Police Chief Wang Guodong's nephew!
The Red-Faced Guard felt frustrated; what was going on? It was one thing for students to glare at him, but why were both the grade director and Security Chief staring at him?
This was the first time the Security Chief felt so passive. In the past, regardless of which student broke school rules, they would always obediently accept punishment. Even if a student came from a powerful family, they would still approach things amicably. But today was different; it felt incredibly stifling. Looking at Director Zhao's expression made it clear he didn't want to deal with this student. As for that student—he seemed completely unafraid, only concerned about whether that girl would go home and reflect on her actions.
After finishing his call, Zhao Guohong returned to the Director's Office with a slightly calmer demeanor. She had been preparing lessons in her office when she received a call from the Geography Teacher. Upon checking her schedule, she felt a pang of anxiety; receiving a call during class hours usually meant something serious had happened. Sure enough, when she answered, the Geography Teacher informed her that there had been an incident in class: Zhang Qiu and Jiang Xue had been taken away by the Security Department and were causing a scene in the hallway.
Zhao Guohong quickly set aside her work and rushed to the teaching building as fast as she could. Finding no one in the hallway, she headed straight for the Director's Office where everyone was gathered.
"Director, I have already notified these two students' parents; they said they would come immediately," Zhao Guohong reported to Director Zhao.
Director Zhao nodded and said, "Actually, before you arrived, the grade had already made a decision. Zhang Qiu will go home to reflect, and Jiang Xue will stay behind to review."
Zhao Guohong suddenly realized that Jiang Xue had actually returned to class and quickly turned to look at her. Jiang Xue was standing a little behind Zhang Qiu, her eyes flickering as she avoided making contact with Zhao Guohong.
"You two go back to the classroom first. We'll call you when your parents arrive."
Director Zhao spoke up, and Zhang Qiu and Jiang Xue left one after the other. In the hallway, Jiang Xue pinched Zhang Qiu hard, causing Zhang Qiu to cry out in pain.
"Don't shout!" Jiang Xue scolded.
Zhang Qiu quickly covered her mouth, but Jiang Xue pinched her again. Suddenly, tears streamed down her face as she hugged Zhang Qiu at the door of the Director's Office, sobbing, "You make me so angry! How could you leave me alone at school?"
Zhang Qiu held Jiang Xue tightly and gently stroked her back. "Silly girl, how could I bear to leave you alone? I just didn't want you to lose your chance at school."
Jiang Xue understood Zhang Qiu's intentions, and it was precisely because she understood that she was unwilling to accept it. She looked up at Zhang Qiu and softly said, "I don't need this kind of care. I just want to be with you. Even if it's difficult, I'm willing to share it with you."
Zhang Qiu lowered his head and kissed Jiang Xue on the lips, cool yet slightly sweet. After a long kiss, they arrived at the classroom door.
"Report!" Zhang Qiu and Jiang Xue spoke simultaneously.
"Come in!" shouted the Geography Teacher from inside the classroom.
Zhang Qiu and Jiang Xue walked into the classroom one after the other. The Geography Teacher only glanced at them briefly before continuing with the lesson. Zhang Qiu and Jiang Xue returned to their seats, no longer in the mood to listen to the class. The homeroom teacher was supposed to call their parents!
As soon as Zhang Qiu sat down, notes began flying over like confetti, landing all over the desk and floor. Zhang Qiu picked them up one by one and opened them to read; they were all inquiries about her situation.
In the Senior Year Director's Office, only Director Zhao, Security Chief, and Zhao Guohong remained, while the Red-Faced Guard and others were sent by the Security Chief to continue their duties at the school gate.
Director Zhao looked at the Security Chief and Zhao Guohong, and said seriously, "This matter is quite tricky."
"Director Zhao, what is the background of Jiang Xue?" With the Red-Faced Guard and others gone, the Security Chief finally had the opportunity to ask the question that had been on his mind.
Director Zhao looked at the Security Chief and replied, "Jiang Xue is the student who injured someone during that fight; she is also the only student who has been dealt with."
"That can't be right, Director. Jiang Xue is back?" Zhao Guohong was also confused. She hadn't thought much about it in her anger earlier, but now she realized that Jiang Xue shouldn't be at school.
Director Zhao sighed, shook his head slightly, and sat down in his chair. "Come, sit down and let's take it slow."
The Security Chief and Zhao Guohong politely took their seats. Director Zhao took a sip of water to clear his throat and continued, "Zhang Qiu and Jiang Xue are indeed a couple; I am clear about this. After that group fight, Jiang Xue was indeed taken away by the police. Even Zhang Qiu's uncle—who is now our county's Police Chief Wang Guodong—couldn't do anything."
"Then how could this happen..." The Security Chief fell into deep thought.
Director Zhao shook his head. "I don't know either, but it is certain that Zhang Qiu brought Jiang Xue back. The fact that she can come to school means something you both understand, right?"
