"Okay, so is this what you guys call an explosion?" As John finished speaking, Alixia swiftly knocked away a rat-person attempting to escape, then turned to look at John, seeming to have her own judgment of the current situation. With a tone that carried a hint of playfulness yet seriousness, she responded, "The explosion is still far away, isn't it? What we should be more concerned about now is how to safely return to the surface from this chaotic place." Her gaze swept over the gradually destabilizing portal, behind which the chaotic energy seemed to be seeking a new exit.
John, upon hearing this, couldn't help but ponder. They had ventured deep into enemy territory, successfully defeated the enemy's leader, but had also put themselves in an extremely dangerous position. They needed to find a way back to the surface, and it had to be before the chaotic energy completely spiraled out of control.
"We need to find a way out quickly," John said firmly, his gaze scanning the collapsing portal and the surroundings for possible escape routes. "The collapse of this chaotic gate could bring unforeseen consequences. We can't stay here for too long."
Taktron stared at the twisting, distorting portal, a hint of determination on his face. He then turned to John and the other team members, speaking softly but with confidence, "No, destabilizing the portal alone won't be enough. We need to find a way to completely destroy it. Only then can we ensure that no more rat people will come through this gate into our world." His gaze remained fixed on the door, as if calculating something.
John listened and his expression seemed somewhat helpless, but with a hint of determination. "Damn it, so how are we going to get back?" His voice revealed a sense of urgency, but more so a determination to complete the mission.
Taktron responded to John's complaint with a apologetic smile, and pressed a few buttons on his arm armor. "Don't worry, I've already called Boudrias to bring down the Wind God-class to find us. He will bombard all the way down, so we need to hurry with the steps to destroy the teleportation gate." His voice carried a sense of urgency, and his eyes looked firmly at John and the other teammates, showing that he had planned the next course of action.
John listened and gradually the anger on his face faded, turning into a serious expression. "Hey! Taktron, next time, tell me about such important matters earlier," he said. Although he spoke harshly, his eyes revealed trust in Taktron's arrangements.
Taktron nodded in understanding. "I will, John. Now, let's focus and proceed according to the plan. The firepower support from Wind God-class will be crucial for us to destroy the teleportation gate. We need to be prepared for everything before Boudrias arrives."
Alixia and Karenmu also adjusted their postures, ready to act at any time. The teamwork of the four people was seamless, and each person clearly knew their tasks and responsibilities. Even in the face of the huge portal and the continuous influx of rat-like enemies, their determination did not waver.
With the thunderous roar echoing all around, stone pillars rained down from the sky, each landing bringing a deafening noise and directly piercing one or two of the rat-like creatures on the ground, creating a stunning scene. Taktron immediately seized the opportunity and loudly shouted to Alixia, "Quick, Alixia! Use the silence bomb and throw it into the portal! Disrupt its unstable connection with the chaotic power!"
Alixia had the silence bomb ready in her hand. After hearing Taktron's command, she aimed the silence bomb without hesitation at the twisting and distorting portal. She took a deep breath, calculated the angle and force, and then forcefully threw the silence bomb. It traced a perfect arc and flew accurately into the center of the portal.
At the moment of the silence bomb's explosion, a red mist burst forth at the center of the portal. Immediately, the distortion and trembling of the entire portal seemed to freeze in an instant, and subtle changes began to appear in the surrounding space. The connection between the portal and the chaotic power was successfully severed, and the energy of the portal began to rapidly diminish, preventing any new rat people from passing through to this world.
As the fluctuating green energy of the portal flickered, it seemed to be caught in an endless tremor. The sturdy stone slabs began to fall off one by one, like stars falling from the night sky, bringing wave after wave of impact. This sudden change plunged the already boiling battlefield into deeper chaos. Many rat soldiers began to scurry around like headless flies, while the four brave warriors realized that danger was rapidly approaching.
John tightened his grip on the weapon beside him and shouted, "Hurry! We must find a place to hide!" His eyes quickly scanned the surroundings, searching for a possible shelter. The unstable release of green energy seemed to foreshadow the catastrophic collapse of the portal.
Taktron, Karenmu, and Alixia immediately abandoned their focus on the battlefield upon hearing John's warning, and began searching for shelter. Their eyes caught sight of a massive cave entrance, seemingly one of the few shelters in the area.
Without hesitation, the four of them quickly rushed towards the cave, each step treading on the edge of collapse. Behind them, the energy of the teleportation gate became even more unstable. Accompanied by a tremendous noise, a green flash blossomed in the air like a final firework, followed by a strong vibration, as if the entire underground was trembling.
When they finally rushed into the stone cave, they turned back and saw that the portal that once connected two worlds had collapsed in a violent energy storm. The green light disappeared in an instant, leaving only flying dust and lingering echoes of the thunderous roar.
