She stepped closer to Kong Xuan, "Why? If you want to kill me, just do it. Why hurt the innocent?"
Kong Xuan sneered, "I've wanted to kill him for a long time; now it's your turn!"
Tang Zisu tucked her flowing hair behind her ear with her fingers and suddenly smiled. The smile was soft, and her gaze was particularly enchanting. She looked into Kong Xuan's eyes and said, "Go ahead and kill me. Once I'm dead, you'll never see your Light Eye again."
A flicker of hesitation crossed Kong Xuan's eyes, as if Tang Zisu's words truly gave him pause.
Lijia shouted, "Brother Xuan, what are you waiting for? All the guests are waiting for you to start; don't let this important matter slip away."
The words implied that Tang Zisu was their sacrificial offering, like a pig waiting for its blood to be shed before they could enter the bridal chamber and fight for three hundred rounds.
Blood dripped from Kong Xuan's fingers, and he told Tang Zisu, "I never intended to see her."
Tang Zisu felt a chill in her heart; had she miscalculated this final move?
Kong Xuan lightly brought his palm down. Tang Zisu only saw a massive wave of light rushing toward her. Pain shot through her chest as she coughed up a mouthful of blood and fell heavily to the ground.
Tang Zisu crumpled on the ground like a broken doll, trembling. She thought that if she just closed her eyes, both the physical pain and the emotional hurt would come to an end.
She slightly opened her eyes but saw Horse Abdomen lying beside her. In his amber eyes, only a thin line remained; his body was still twitching slightly.
Tang Zisu suddenly opened her eyes wide. She couldn't die yet; dying so simply and brutally would only stain their wedding garments redder. She still had children, still had Horse Abdomen; she had to survive.
Kong Xuan slowly walked over step by step. The entire venue fell silent, all eyes focused on his feet. The heartbeat of the crowd seemed to synchronize with his footsteps.
Driven into a corner, Tang Zisu was like a trapped beast. Cold sweat poured down her forehead as the innate instincts deeply embedded in her bones were suddenly awakened. They surged forth like a fountain, striking at the memories deep within her soul, refining her body, and filling her with an overwhelming power.
Tang Zisu clenched her left palm and then released it. In a flash, she unleashed a golden wave of light that enveloped Kong Xuan like a massive blooming lotus. Seizing the opportunity, Tang Zisu grabbed Horse Abdomen, and in a flash of brilliance, they vanished without a trace.
Kong Xuan seemed momentarily stunned, remaining motionless within the light wave until Lijia broke through with ice spikes from her fingers and called out, "Brother Xuan, how could you let her escape?"
Only then did Kong Xuan come to his senses. He waved his hands, and long green vines sprouted from them, crazily pursuing the direction in which Tang Zisu had disappeared.
The sudden turn of events left the onlookers in an uproar. These people had not genuinely come to celebrate; many had suffered losses at the hands of Kong Xuan. The massive bagua formation stirred their blood, and although there were calls for reconciliation with Kong Xuan from above, their own misfortunes brought them greater satisfaction.
Kong Xuan's vines suddenly shook violently as if they had ensnared something. He pulled hard, and the vines stretched taut, the leaves trembling above.
Lang Ye suddenly charged forward, wielding a blade he had seemingly summoned from nowhere. With a swift strike, he severed the vines, causing green sap to ooze from the broken stems.
Kong Xuan withdrew his hands. Before he could speak, Lijia interjected, "Lang Ye, what are you doing? Are you trying to rebel?"
Lang Ye didn't even glance at her; he focused solely on Kong Xuan and said, "Kong Xuan, as a brother, I don't want you to regret this."
Kong Xuan sneered coldly: "Lang Ye, if you are truly my brother, you should help me kill her. She is Light Eye."
"Then you definitely shouldn't kill her. You can't lose your conscience for Celestial Maiden. Kong Xuan, let her go."
Lijia suddenly laughed mockingly and chimed in, "What’s this? Has Wolf King also been moved? Could it be that the child in her womb is related to Wolf King?"
"You’re talking nonsense." Lang Ye roared angrily and slapped Lijia across the face, knocking her phoenix crown to the ground.
Lijia trembled all over as she turned and threw herself into Kong Xuan's arms, crying uncontrollably.
Kong Xuan gently patted her back and comforted her, "Don't cry, I'll take care of it for you."
He turned to Lang Ye and said, "Apologize. It's not too late for you to apologize now."
Lang Ye licked the blade in his hand with his tongue. "Apologize, Kong Xuan? You’ve been eager to be a lapdog for the Heavenly Court after being locked away for three hundred years. I damn well look down on you."
Pojun also stepped forward and nudged Lang Ye. "Lang Ye, hurry up and apologize. A real man doesn’t suffer losses in front of him."
Lang Ye stiffened his neck. "You want me to bow my head? I’d rather die. Today, I will kill this woman and see how you please these dog gods."
"Bastard." Kong Xuan swept his leg at Lang Ye's knee, causing him to buckle and nearly kneel on the ground. However, he managed to hold himself up a few inches above the ground, his face defiant. "Kong Xuan, I damn well look down on you. Is the Southern Heavenly Gate still in need of a doorman waiting for you?"
Kong Xuan's eyes grew colder, like a sword blade tempered in fire. He reached out and grabbed Lang Ye by the neck, slowly tightening his grip.
Kong Xuan gritted his teeth and said, "I'll give you one more chance. Apologize."
Lang Ye stared at him with wide eyes, his pupils pitch black, showing no sign of compromise even as he was being choked.
Kong Xuan's icy hand clutched his windpipe tightly, a sinister smile creeping onto his face. "Do you think I wouldn't dare?"
Lang Ye couldn't make any sound at all; he felt the light being gradually pulled away from him as he sank into a chaotic darkness.
"Ming Wang, please let him go; we are brothers!" Pojun shouted desperately, kneeling at Kong Xuan's feet and grasping his wrist.
Kong Xuan released his grip and delivered a heavy slap across Lang Ye's face. He coldly said to Lang Ye, "This slap is for Lijia. Now get lost."
Lang Ye's mind was like an active volcano, with boiling lava wanting to erupt and burn Kong Xuan alive. He swung his knife and cut off the front of his clothes, shouting angrily, "Kong Xuan, today I sever our ties. From now on, you take your own path while I take mine, and we will have nothing to do with each other."
Kong Xuan laughed wildly, his long hair dancing in the wind: "Get lost! Get out of here before I kill you. Leave the Demon Realm now!"
Breaking Army, caught in the middle, didn't know whom to advise. In truth, he couldn't persuade either of them and could only watch as Lang Ye threw down his knife and flew away.
What was supposed to be a joyous wedding instantly turned sour!
Kong Xuan's face turned ashen. He glanced at the guests, who all lowered their heads to look for ants on the ground under his gaze.
Kong Xuan announced loudly, "I apologize, everyone. Today, I cannot fulfill Celestial Maiden's wish, so this wedding cannot continue. Please enjoy your food and drink; I have matters to attend to and will not accompany you further."
The guests were cursing inwardly but pretended to agree outwardly. The Cloud Wanderer stroked his white beard and said, "It's fine, Ming Wang, don't worry. You'll have experience next time." Footloose Immortal patted his belly and chuckled, "Exactly! Practice makes perfect."
Celestial Maiden was exasperated. This bunch of fools seemed to thrive on chaos. She noted each of them down; they would pay for this later.
Liya chased after Kong Xuan into the room. The room was brightly lit with red candles, filled with festive cheer, but the bride and groom were not there for their wedding night.
Liya jogged a few steps: "Brother Xuan, what do you mean? Why won't you get married? In front of so many people, where am I supposed to put my face?"
Kong Xuan turned back with a smile: "Celestial Maiden, what are you talking about? No one cares about this wedding anyway. Look at these guests; they are just some unranked loose immortals. Do you think your adoptive father has any influence in front of the Heavenly Emperor?"
Liya suppressed her anger and replied, "Brother Xuan, you can't blame my father entirely. After all, three hundred years ago we were still enemies. Tota Li Tianwang, Erlang Shen, and Yang Jian were all strongly opposed to your appointment in Heaven."
Kong Xuan sighed deeply: "Forget it. Maybe it is as Lang Ye said; if I go there, I'll just be a watchdog for your Heavenly Court."
"Brother Xuan, you believe me, it absolutely won't be like that. With your abilities, your rank will definitely not be lower than Yang Jian."
"Him?" Kong Xuan scoffed, "Even if he offered to carry my shoes, I would still think he is unworthy. Liya, in this vast heavenly realm, there is only one person I admire."
"Who?"
Kong Xuan glanced at Liya lightly: "You, Celestial Maiden Rika."
Liya smiled charmingly: "Brother Xuan, are you trying to flatter me? What capabilities does a weak woman like me have to earn your admiration?"
"You are a Celestial Maiden, just a minor goddess in charge of the Snow Mountain, yet you have gained the Heavenly Emperor's recognition as his goddaughter and been granted the title of Celestial Maiden. You are esteemed in the heavenly realm and are also a sworn sister to the Bull Demon King's wife, Iron Fan Princess. Now you are the queen of my demon realm. Liya, just how capable are you!"
Not just capable; she is practically a master of public relations who can weave tales for gods and ghosts alike!
Liya's expression became somewhat uneasy. She hugged Kong Xuan's waist from behind and softly said, "Brother Xuan, no matter how I treat others, I am always devoted to you. If you don't believe me, I can show you my heart."
Kong Xuan gently pushed her away: "No, with blood everywhere, I'm scared. Liya, today I hurt Tang Zisu for you and drove away Lang Ye; you can't let me down."
Liya raised two fingers in an oath: "Brother Xuan, I swear that if I betray you, may thunder strike me."
Kong Xuan held her fingers down: "Stop saying silly things; Thunder Lord and Lightning Mother still listen to you. No, perhaps even the entire divine realm and demon realm must heed your words."
Kong Xuan's hesitant demeanor made Liya feel particularly frustrated. She noticed her heavily powdered face was starting to sweat; she reached up to touch it and said, "My makeup is smudged; I need to wash it off."
As Kong Xuan watched her retreating figure, a cold smile formed at the corners of his mouth.
Since you all have no intention of letting me go, I will turn the world upside down and play along with you!
---------------------------------------------------------
Tang Zisu slowly woke up, feeling as if a twelve-ton truck had run over her several times. Her body felt completely out of sorts, and it was truly a miserable situation.
"Miss, you're awake? Does your body still hurt?" A gentle and pleasant male voice sounded above her, filled with deep concern.
Tang Zisu's first reaction was, "I've crossed over again." She slowly opened her eyes and saw the blue canopy of a carriage, followed by a pair of Peach Blossom Eyes.
The owner of the Peach Blossom Eyes was eagerly looking at her, little sparks flying from his gaze. He continued, "Miss, just tell me where it hurts; I have a doctor with me."
When Tang Zisu spoke, her voice was hoarse and startled her: "Water, I want to drink water."
The Peach Blossom Eyes hurriedly helped Tang Zisu sit up and fetched a cup of water from the small table in the carriage for her to drink. The sweet tea soothed her parched throat, and she gratefully said, "Thank you."
The Peach Blossom Eyes blinked cutely and said, "Miss, there's no need to be polite. Meeting is fate. By the way, my name is Liu Yang. May I ask for your name?"
Tang Zisu replied, "Tang Zisu, Tang Zisu."
As soon as Tang Zisu finished speaking, Liu Yang accidentally dropped an empty teacup in the carriage. His eyes were filled with emotion to the point of being watery. He held Tang Zisu's hand and exclaimed loudly, "Tang Zisu, my Wife! In this vast sea of people, I have finally found you! Thank heaven and earth for bringing us together!"
Tang Zisu responded, "Since I met you, my life has been filled with miracles; so much pain and laughter intertwine into a brilliant memory."
Liu Yang was nearly in tears: "Wife, you understand me!"
"Understand, my lord, are you addicted to My Fair Princess or something? Is 'Wife' just a casual term? Who do you think you are, coming out of some filthy pit?"
Tang Zisu leaned back, trying to keep her distance from the agitated Peach Blossom Eyes. "Sir, I think you've mistaken me for someone else. This is our first meeting; how could I possibly be your Wife?"
"Wife, we've met long ago. Have you forgotten? How could you bear to forget?"
Wow, this guy knows about the Erkang body a thousand years later; that's impressive!
Tang Zisu replied, "Sir, I don't recall when or where we met. I have no impression at all."
"It's a long story. At that time, Wife, you were still in my Mother-in-law's womb, and I was only three years old. But I felt your deep affection for me. I placed my hand on Mother-in-law's belly, and you kept moving around inside, playing with me happily. Father-in-law said we were fated and arranged this extraordinary bond for us."
The more Tang Zisu listened, the more confused she became. What on earth was he talking about? What in-laws and childhood betrothal? Sir, are you sure you took your medicine today?
Tang Zisu used her sleeve to block the face that was getting too close. "Sir, I think you've mistaken me again. I'm an orphan with no parents."
Liu Yang pulled her sleeve down gently. "Who doesn't have parents? Your father and mother are General Tang of the current dynasty. They were framed by treacherous officials and executed along with your family. You were escorted by servants to hide here; it's been eighteen years now."
Tang Zisu looked at Liu Yang and suddenly laughed. "Sir, have you watched too many dramas? This script sounds so familiar. Are you going to say next, 'Your Majesty, do you remember the Summer Rain Lotus by Daming Lake?'"
"Wife, what a coincidence! How did you know I have a nickname called Summer Rain Lotus?"
This is too coincidental! Sir, are you serious?
Tang Zisu pushed away his seemingly boneless body and said seriously, "Liu Yang, please just call me Tang Zisu. It would be inappropriate if you keep calling me Wife."
"How could this be wrong? When I was engaged to Tang Zisu, there was a token. The Malachite necklace around Tang Zisu's neck was a gift from my family, and this jade pendant of mine was given by your family. Look, it even has your name engraved on it."
No way, after hearing this, Tang Zisu felt completely unwell. Please, if you're going to lie, at least have some skill; that necklace is clearly a sacred object of the priestesses from Peacock Valley, and that jade pendant of yours is obviously a new creation—the name is still fresh!
Tang Zisu became more vigilant towards Liu Yang at this thought. Could he be a big con artist involved in human trafficking?
The conversation hit a bit of a lull at this point. Liu Yang sighed deeply: "Tang Zisu, you have suffered all these years. Back then, my father-in-law's family was wronged. I was only a few years old, and my father, being just a leisurely prince, couldn't do anything. For years I searched for you, hoping countless times and being disappointed just as many. Now that I've found you, even if the mountains crumble and the heavens collapse, I will never let go of your hand again. Holding your hand and growing old together, you are the wind and I am the sand, entwined until the ends of the earth. You are my little apple; no matter how much I love you, it will never be too much."
What on earth is happening? He must have come from another world! Tang Zisu pressed tightly into the corner of the carriage: "Brother, are you from Mars?"
Liu Yang looked confused as Tang Zisu took a deep breath. Suddenly she remembered a little monster that wasn't from Mars but was even more terrifying: "Young Master Liu, when you saved me, was I alone? Was there nothing beside me?"
"Are you talking about it?" Liu Yang pointed with his hand. Following his finger, Tang Zisu saw a small tabby cat lying in the corner.
Tang Zisu asked in surprise: "What is this?"
"Your cat! You seem to have a good relationship with it; you were holding it tightly while you were unconscious."
Tang Zisu thought to herself: Could this be Horse Abdomen? Did he turn into a cat?
Liu Yang gently poked the cat's belly: "Your cat seems to be injured; it's hurt in the belly. But I've already had a doctor apply medicine for it, so you don't need to worry."
Tang Zisu suddenly realized something: "Young Master Liu, your father is a prince, so does that make you one too?"
"Hehe, Wife, I am indeed Huaiyang Wang. From now on, you will be my princess. However, I still prefer to call you Wife; it feels more intimate."
"How arrogant! Is the prince really that impressive? Look at you, just another indulgent prince."
Tang Zisu silently criticized him in her heart and then asked, "Where are we going?"
"Naturally back to the capital. Don't you want to visit your parents' graves? I've already informed the emperor, and the case from years ago has finally been cleared. You can happily return and be my princess."
Tang Zisu thought about how both she and Horse Abdomen were injured, and since they couldn't return to Peacock Village, it was better to follow him to recuperate, get some food and drink, and then plan their next steps. Having made up her mind, Tang Zisu said, "I'm hungry; I want to eat something."
Liu Yang clapped his hands, and immediately someone from outside brought in a bowl of Bird's Nest Porridge. "It's hard to find good food on the road; make do with this for now. Once we get back to the capital, I'll treat you to something better."
Tang Zisu was almost moved to tears; Bird's Nest was still decent. It seemed this trip to the capital was truly something to look forward to. If only she had met the prince first instead of that bird.
Suddenly, she thought of that person, and a shiver ran through her body. She hadn't really forgotten; she was just pretending not to remember.
Upon arriving at the Post Station, Liu Yang went down to chat with the Postmaster while Tang Zisu reached out to stroke Horse Abdomen's fur. "Are you Manju?"
The cat meowed softly and then nestled its head into its body.
"Where did you find this stray cat pretending to be Horse Abdomen? Look at you, so fat and silly; you don't resemble my little beauty at all!"
The cat opened its eyes slightly to glance at Tang Zisu before lying back down to sleep.
"Silly cat, lazy cat, fatso."
The little cat got angry and swatted her hand. "Master, am I really that fat?"
"Is that really you, Horse Abdomen?" Tang Zisu was emotionally stirred. Despite everything she had been through, she still found it hard to believe that a monster could turn into a handsome young man, and then that handsome young man could turn into a kitten.
Horse Abdomen said, "I’m injured. It would be better for me to recover my true form quickly. You need to be wary of Liu Yang; he doesn't seem like a good person."
"Who cares if he's a good person or not? I don't have anything valuable for him to deceive me with anyway."
As soon as Tang Zisu finished speaking, Liu Yang pushed aside the curtain from outside and said, "I told you to rest for a while, but here you are talking to yourself again. Come down quickly; there's delicious meat dumplings to eat."
Tang Zisu enjoyed herself all the way to the capital. Liu Yang treated her exceptionally well, checking on her three meals a day and making her feel cared for. She thought he must not have treated his mother this well. However, he behaved appropriately, being gentle and protective towards Tang Zisu, as if he had truly fallen in love with her since she was in her mother's womb.
After settling down in the villa of the Wang family, she was still well taken care of. Tang Zisu didn’t want to leave and genuinely wanted to see the parents of this body. As Liu Yang said, one cannot be without parents. If the gravesite truly belonged to the parents of the witch Tang Zisu, then it was right to pay respects.
On the day they went to visit the gravesite, the weather was somewhat gloomy. As soon as they arrived at the cemetery, it started to drizzle, which eventually turned into snowflakes that stung her face.
Tang Zisu felt dazed; it had only been a summer and an autumn, yet everything had changed and turned hostile.
The cemetery was well-maintained; although simple, it was clear that someone had been taking care of it diligently. There wasn’t a single weed on the grave.
For some reason, when Tang Zisu saw the large black characters on the tombstone, tears began to flow uncontrollably.
Liu Yang carefully wiped her tears with a handkerchief and said, "Don't cry anymore. You're still recovering and your body is weak. Let's go back for now. There will be plenty of time in the future; when the weather warms up, you can come visit them often."
Holding an umbrella over Tang Zisu, Liu Yang helped her back to the carriage and handed her a small hand warmer wrapped in cloth, then smiled at her.
Tang Zisu felt embarrassed by his gaze and asked, "What are you looking at?"
"I believe Wife is naturally beautiful, a true Beauty."
Beauty? That's because you haven't seen Kong Xuan. Once you do, you'll understand what a real beauty is.
It wasn't intentional to think of him; it was just an objective recollection!
For a moment, the carriage was very quiet, with only the sound of the wheels rolling over the road and the soft patter of snowflakes falling.
Liu Yang suddenly laughed, and a spring blossomed in his Peach Blossom Eyes. He said, "Tomorrow I will go to the palace to request permission. Let's arrange our wedding before the Winter Solstice!"
Tang Zisu turned pale with fright and waved her hands, saying, "No, no, I'm not the one you're looking for."
"Then why were you crying at the grave?"
"I was moved by the loyalty of the Tang family. Please don't think too much about it."
Liu Yang's gaze dimmed, as if he had been greatly wronged. He sighed and asked, "Am I really that bad? Why don't you like me?"
Under his gaze, Tang Zisu felt her heart soften like dough. She even had the impulse to agree to him, but she was carrying someone else's child. She couldn't deceive him, so Tang Zisu said, "You're a good person, but I'm sorry. I'm pregnant with someone else's child!"
