Jiang Chen once again astonished them by demonstrating his ability to fly with a sword. If he donned ancient attire, he would truly resemble the Shushan Sword Immortal. Riding the wind on his sword, vanquishing demons across the world, this kind of carefree sword immortal captivated Li Ruoxi and her companions deeply.
Jiang Chen gently set the woman down and quietly infused her with a trace of Spiritual Energy. Only then did she awaken. When the woman regained consciousness and realized she was on a boat, terror filled her face as she struggled to comprehend her situation.
“Auntie, it’s okay. Did you encounter some trouble?” Lin Bingbing hurriedly approached, supporting the woman and speaking softly.
The woman then noticed she was on a cruise ship, currently positioned beneath the Kuaijiang Bridge. It seemed she had been rescued, but instead of feeling grateful, she suddenly cried out, “Don’t save me! Let me die!” She attempted to jump into the river.
Lin Bingbing and her friends quickly grabbed hold of her, urging her not to do it. After much persuasion, the woman finally calmed down and tearfully shared her story. She came from a village in Hubei Province and had been brought to Jiang City by her child for medical treatment due to feeling unwell. To her shock, she was diagnosed with Terminal Cancer. Not wanting to burden her family with medical expenses, she had secretly planned to end her life by jumping into the river.
Lin Bingbing and the others felt deep sympathy for the woman's plight and expressed their willingness to cover her medical costs.
“Auntie, I’ve studied Traditional Chinese Medicine; let me take a look at you,” Jiang Chen offered as he approached her. Mimicking a traditional practitioner, he took her pulse while using Spiritual Energy to nourish her body. With Jiang Chen's intervention, not only could he handle mere cancer, but he could even bring back someone from death.
“Auntie, you’re in good health; it’s possible the doctor misdiagnosed you. Try another hospital tomorrow; I assure you’ll be fine,” Jiang Chen said with a smile.
“Really?” The woman looked skeptical yet hopeful.
“Absolutely,” Jiang Chen affirmed earnestly.
“Then I’ll go to another hospital tomorrow.” The despair in the woman’s heart ignited with hope.
“Auntie, please give me your bank account number; I’ll transfer some money to you,” Lin Bingbing said.
“Thank you for your kindness, but I can’t accept your money,” the woman insisted stubbornly.
Lin Bingbing felt helpless. After a while, the cruise ship docked. She helped the woman off the boat and watched as she walked away before approaching Jiang Chen with concern. “Jiang Chen, is that auntie really okay?”
“I’ve already treated her; she’s fine now,” Jiang Chen replied with a slight smile.
“Jiang Chen, was that auntie really diagnosed with Terminal Cancer?” Li Ruoxi and the others looked astonished.
“Yes. But cancer is nothing significant; there’s no need for surprise,” Jiang Chen stated casually.
“Cancer is nothing significant?” Li Ruoxi and the others were taken aback but soon realized that given Jiang Chen's extraordinary abilities, treating cancer would indeed be trivial for him.
“Well then, we’ve had enough fun for today; let’s head back to the hotel and rest,” Jiang Chen suggested.
The group returned to their hotel where Jiang Chen helped Lin Bingbing and the others dispel their protective formations before heading to his room to rest. Standing by the floor-to-ceiling window of their riverside hotel, Jiang Chen gazed at the distant river view. He was not one to wallow in pity for others, yet what had just transpired left him feeling quite mixed inside.
The world is filled with suffering, whether on Earth or in the Xiu Xian World, where many live in despair. Jiang Chen is not a Bodhisattva here to save all, but when faced with such situations, he certainly won't stand idly by.
The universe is vast, and even though Jiang Chen holds the title of Immortal Lord, he cannot rescue everyone from their suffering. He does not aim to be a savior for the world. However, on Earth, perhaps he can make a difference.
Yet, improving the world is not something that can be achieved overnight, nor can it be accomplished by Jiang Chen alone. This requires careful planning and consideration. Since he has the intention to help, he will ultimately succeed.
In the next room, Lin Bingbing gathered with her friends.
Li Ruoxi, Zhou Ailing, and Liu Sisi all stared at Lin Bingbing with peculiar expressions, making her feel uneasy under their gaze.
"What are you three doing? Why aren't you going to sleep?" Lin Bingbing asked, feeling somewhat annoyed.
"How could we possibly sleep tonight? Bingbing, you need to come clean about how you met Jiang Chen. We want to know every detail," Li Ruoxi insisted.
"Uh, it was through a mutual friend. But she's not just any friend; she’s the president of Yue Group," Lin Bingbing replied without hiding anything.
"You mean Yue Hui? No wonder! It's not surprising that someone of her status knows Jiang Chen," Li Ruoxi remarked. The other two nodded in agreement.
"I didn't expect Jiang Chen to be such an impressive person," Lin Bingbing admitted.
"Honestly, if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe that someone like him exists in this world. I even suspect that Jiang Chen might have crossed over from a fantasy realm," Li Ruoxi said.
"Now that you mention it, it really could be possible that Jiang Chen is a traveler from another world," Zhou Ailing added.
"Why don't you ask him directly, Bingbing?" Liu Sisi suggested curiously.
"You all have such wild imaginations! This world is not as simple as we perceive. Didn't you see how Cheng Kai casually smashed the table with a single strike? There are plenty of people stronger than him out there. Jiang Chen is just more powerful; the idea of him being a traveler is nonsense," Lin Bingbing asserted confidently.
"Is that true? Could there really be so many experts on Earth?" Li Ruoxi questioned incredulously, feeling as if her worldview was about to be reset.
"Definitely! It's just that we don't usually come into contact with them," Lin Bingbing confirmed.
"Hehe! Bingbing, I want to ask you something," Li Ruoxi suddenly said with a grin.
"What is it?" Lin Bingbing looked at her in confusion.
"Do you like Jiang Chen? I'm thinking of pursuing him; do you think I'll succeed?" Li Ruoxi asked eagerly.
"I do like him, but pursuing him won't work out. The same goes for you," Lin Bingbing replied with a smile.
"How can you be so sure?" Li Ruoxi seemed unconvinced.
"Think about it—men like Jiang Chen are adored by countless girls. Many of them are exceptionally talented too. For instance, my friend Yue Hui clearly likes Jiang Chen. But I feel that Jiang Chen doesn’t have those kinds of feelings for her either. So if we pursue him, the outcome will likely be the same," Lin Bingbing analyzed.
"Alright, I was just joking. I still have some self-awareness; it's good enough that Jiang Chen doesn't cause me any trouble. I wouldn't dare pursue him. Whenever I see him, I get nervous," Li Ruoxi said with a smile. She was indeed infatuated with Jiang Chen, but she also knew that this was impossible.
