After the Shadow Guard left, Ye Xiaohan collected her thoughts, shaking off the shock and focusing on the task at hand.
"The fish is already on the hook; now we just have to wait for the net to be drawn in."
Shen Ru chuckled from the side, "Madam, your foresight is remarkable. How can you be so sure that the Traitor will lose his composure today?"
In his view, even if there were suspicions, it wouldn't be easy for someone to expose their identity. After all, blending into the military without raising suspicion was no simple feat.
"I'm not predicting that he will act today; in fact, if he doesn't act, I planned to keep watch tomorrow," Ye Xiaohan replied with a smile. "But regardless, they will definitely take action within a few days. The Bandits believed that the imperial Army was no threat at all, especially after they had even captured the Invincible General Gu Bei. This only fueled their arrogance, making them dismissive of the Army.

Listening intently, Shen Ru nodded and then asked, "What if that Traitor truly thinks things through and doesn't trust our plan? What if he decides not to report?"
"Isn't that perfect?" Ye Xiaohan blinked playfully. "Without the Traitor's warning, our troops are already organized. We might as well go with the plan and directly storm the Bandit Hideout, catching them off guard!"
Shen Ru paused for a moment before bursting into laughter. "Brilliant plan! Madam has a wonderful strategy!"
"Hehe, Shen Strategist is overpraising me!" Ye Xiaohan felt a bit uncomfortable with Shen Ru's title. She shot a glare at Gu Bei, signaling him to step in and clarify so Shen Ru would change his wording.
However, it was unclear whether Gu Bei genuinely didn't understand or was doing it on purpose; he simply looked back at Ye Xiaohan and smiled without addressing it.
Ye Xiaohan felt awkward about hitting Gu Bei in front of Shen Ru and could only try to ignore it.
The three waited inside the tent while Shen Ru and Gu Bei discussed their marching plans. Ye Xiaohan leaned over to record how she treated several soldiers.
Before long, someone excitedly lifted the tent flap and rushed in.
"General, we have captured the person!"
The man rushed in front of Gu Bei, only to realize his rashness when Shen Ru shot him a glance. He quickly bowed and said, "As you predicted, General, my brothers and I waited at the location you indicated and indeed saw a shadow sneaking off in that direction!"
When the Traitor pried open the boulder, intending to take the shortcut through the secret passage to the Bandit Hideout, he was caught off guard by soldiers hiding at the foot of the mountain and those concealed within the passage, who surrounded him.
Gu Bei nodded and asked, "Bring him in. Did you alert anyone else?"
"Rest assured, General. I followed your instructions meticulously; it was done so stealthily that not even a Cricket was disturbed!"
Ye Xiaohan looked at the man with interest. Gu Bei's army was known for its strict discipline, and most soldiers had developed serious personalities; it was rare to see someone so lively.
Gu Bei's voice was not loud, but those who heard it felt as if a heavy weight pressed down upon them: "Bring him up."
"Yes! General!"
The subordinate complied and soon threw in a person bound like a rice dumpling.
Everyone turned their gaze to the figure on the ground; it was an ordinary young man, just like most soldiers.
Gu Bei frowned. "Remove the cloth from his mouth."
The subordinate roughly pulled out the rag stuffed in the man's mouth, revealing that it was half a piece of clothing. The color and pattern matched that of the bound man’s attire.
"Who are you, and how did you infiltrate our camp?" This was what Gu Bei wanted to know most; only by understanding this could he resolve the situation completely. Otherwise, capturing this one would mean there were still others who had slipped through.
As soon as the man on the ground could speak, he immediately began to plead for mercy. "General, you misunderstand! I'm not a Traitor; I just needed to relieve myself over there. I've been having diarrhea lately and didn't want to disturb my Brothers, so I went a bit further!"
The reasoning sounded plausible; the camp was not too far from the foot of the mountain. However, everyone present looked at the Traitor as if he were a fool.
"Do you think we're all as stupid as you?" one of the more impatient subordinates kicked the Traitor and scolded, "Convenient? You think you can just run to the foot of the mountain and get away with it? You should have gone through the secret passage! Our Army searched there for quite a while and found no secret passage. You went out for a little convenience and managed to pry open the giant stone sealing the entrance. How could you be so capable!"
The Traitor felt guilty under the scolding but insisted on his innocence, claiming he had stumbled upon the secret passage by accident.
"My subordinate also discovered that secret passage by accident. Out of curiosity, I went in to check it out, and just when I was about to return to report, I was mistakenly captured by the Brothers!"
Bound tightly, the Traitor could only struggle toward Gu Bei, resembling a giant caterpillar. "General, this is a misunderstanding; I am being wronged! Please see clearly, General! You have always been fair and strict; you would never wrong your subordinate!"
Look at him, trying to play psychological tactics! Ye Xiaohan glanced at the Traitor; he was quite clever, accurately reading Gu Bei's character.
Under normal circumstances, he might have actually swayed someone.
However, Gu Bei was no fool and would not be easily deceived. At this moment, his expression remained unchanged; he did not even register the Traitor's words.
"Bring him in for interrogation until he is willing to confess," Gu Bei commanded. As soon as he finished speaking, the impatient subordinate stepped forward and dragged the Traitor outside.
"You thief! I'll teach you not to be blind! You've fallen into your grandfather's hands now; you'll relive all the bad things you've done before!"
Ye Xiaohan expected to hear screams of agony from the interrogation but was surprised when everything outside fell silent. In the stillness of the night, even the chirping of insects in the grass and the crackling of the campfire were distinctly audible.
However, when the Traitor was dragged back in again, Ye Xiaohan realized how utterly ignorant she was about methods of punishment.
The Traitor returned in such a state that he could hardly be called human; he resembled some tattered, unrecognizable object.
Ye Xiaohan frowned as she caught a familiar scent of blood. To her astonishment, those present seemed unfazed; even Gu Bei maintained a cold expression without any other reaction.
This place is completely different from the Peaceful World of the past. This realization flashed through Ye Xiaohan's mind once again.
"Are you willing now?" Gu Bei's voice was calm, but it sounded like a death knell in the ears.
The Traitor was a tough nut to crack; even after being beaten half to death, Ye Xiaohan suspected that his injuries were far worse than they appeared.
Yet he refused to budge, insisting that he was wronged.
"General, you have no evidence and are framing an innocent person! This is slander! I refuse to accept this; I am wronged!"
The Traitor kept repeating these two sentences on the ground. No matter what others asked, he would not answer, only shouting his innocence over and over.
"Tsk!" An impatient subordinate couldn't help but kick the Traitor again. "Stop playing dumb! You know better than anyone whether you are wronged or not! Hurry up and confess honestly, or you'll regret it!"
The Traitor struggled and shouted, "Just kill me! Go ahead and kill me; I won't admit anything! I am wronged! What great general only knows how to harm his own soldiers!"
"You bastard!" Upon hearing the Traitor slander Gu Bei, the subordinate's anger flared up. Just as he was about to rush forward to beat him, he was stopped by Shen Ru, who had been silent until now.
Shen Ru kicked the Traitor aside and stepped on his shoulder, carefully examining his face. After a moment, he said, "I remember you; you are Zhao Si from the Fifteenth Battalion."
"However," Shen Ru seemed a bit puzzled. "Looking closely, you seem somewhat different. Not just your face, but also your voice and demeanor."
In a military camp with thousands of soldiers, it was truly impressive that Shen Ru could remember each one.
