"Hi," she said, waving her hand in front of Hu Linglong's face to greet her, but Hu Linglong didn't even blink, looking as lifeless as a corpse. "I'm Qing Luan, sent by your brother," she introduced herself slowly and quietly, observing her reaction closely, but found no response whatsoever. 0

Sighing, Qing Luan thought to herself that if even her own brother couldn't elicit a reaction, what chance did she have as an outsider? With that thought, she couldn't help but smile wryly. 0

Glancing at Hu Linglong one last time, Qing Luan turned and walked outside. In the courtyard, she saw a group of maids kneeling on the ground, and her lips twitched in disbelief—was it really necessary for the young lady to be so dramatic!? 0

Hu Lingyun was fuming, but after a moment of consideration, Qing Luan approached him and whispered, "These are all the young lady's people. She must care for them to some extent. Perhaps we should wait until she feels better before deciding how to deal with them?" Someone who could punish themselves for another's mistakes wouldn't be excessively cruel. 0

Hu Lingyun paused in surprise and exclaimed, "Do you have a way to save Linglong?" 0

Qing Luan squinted at the kneeling figures. Some wore expressions of disdain and contempt; others looked fearful and anxious; a few had cunning and calculating looks. However, one person's expression caught Qing Luan's attention—there was no fear in her eyes, only deep concern. 0

"You all can disperse now," Qing Luan said softly. 0

The group remained still, their expressions shifting to shock, disdain, and contempt. 0

"Did you not hear Miss Zhu's words? From now on, you will all listen to Miss Zhu. She is equivalent to another master of the Hu residence. If anyone dares to neglect her, don't blame me for being unkind," Hu Lingyun added after acknowledging Qing Luan's authority. 0

"Come with me," Qing Luan said, pointing at the maid who had shown an unusual expression earlier. She then turned and headed toward the place Hu Lingyun had arranged for her. 0

The maid glanced nervously at Hu Lingyun, hesitating over whether to follow. Before she could think further, Hu Lingyun's furious shout startled her into quick steps behind Qing Luan. 0

The Idle Cloud Pavilion was the residence Hu Lingyun had arranged for Qing Luan—elegant and tranquil. She found it quite satisfactory. 0

"Sit," Qing Luan said as she entered the room, instructing Qin'er to take Tide out for a walk. She had matters to attend to. "What is your name?" 0

"I am Jin'er," Jin'er replied softly, not daring to sit and keeping her head lowered. Her heart raced; she was fifteen, while the girl before her looked no older than twelve. Despite the age difference, the girl's presence was imposing enough to make Jin'er feel small and fearful, worried that one misstep could cost her life. 0

"How long have you been by Miss Linglong's side?" The gentle tone made one let down their guard. 0

"I have been with the young lady since I was five, so it has been ten years now." 0

"And what is the young lady like?" Qing Luan asked, her voice calm and unhurried. 0

Seeing that the questions were trivial, Jin'er relaxed a bit and replied softly, "The young lady treats us very well. She is generous with food, clothing, and necessities; she never scolds or punishes us. She is the best master I have ever known." At this point, her eyes began to redden. 0

Upon hearing this, Qing Luan knew she had judged correctly; this girl truly cared for Hu Linglong. 0
