After hearing her explanation, Linglong was taken aback and exclaimed, "Your family is in business too?" 0

Shaking her head, Qing Luan scoffed, "My family isn't in business; we became prosperous thanks to my mother's family's wealth from trade. Once they gained power, they looked down on my mother for being a Merchant's Daughter, allowing the concubine to act arrogantly and even driving me, the Legitimate Daughter, away just because the concubine was a nobleman's illegitimate daughter." 0

At that moment, Linglong finally understood what Qing Luan had meant when she asked her that day. It turned out she had endured such grievances, which explained why she spoke so disparagingly of merchants. Now, it made sense why Qing Luan was so eager to help her; perhaps it reminded her of her own experiences. 0

"What will you do then? Are you going to wander around with your sister and maid forever?" Linglong asked sincerely, showing no intention of driving her away. "If you don't want to go home, why not stay here for good?" A Legitimate Daughter who could cook, save lives, and identify herbs—Linglong couldn't fathom how difficult her life must have been. 0

Qing Luan shook her head firmly. "No, once Qian Ming's matter is settled, I will leave." There was no room for her to develop here. 0

Linglong opened her mouth as if to say something but ultimately remained silent. 0

After spending over a month at the Hu Family without any time to go out, now that things had stabilized, Qing Luan told Linglong that she would take Qin'er and Tide out for a stroll. For her, becoming a merchant was the only path available, but without understanding or starting from a low position, it would be futile. She needed to go out and explore for potential business opportunities. 0

The streets were bustling with activity. The ancient stone roads and wooden houses were arranged neatly or scattered charmingly. The classical elegance made Qing Luan take a deep breath; she felt both excited and anxious. 0

"Sister, look closely!" Tide exclaimed like someone released from prison, eyes sparkling at the myriad of sights around them. She kept chattering while her little hands and feet were in constant motion, making both Qing Luan and Qin'er laugh heartily. They all knew that although Tide rarely mentioned their grandmother, she often dreamed about her at night but never spoke of it upon waking. This made Qing Luan's heart ache even more. 0

Fortunately, Tide hadn't witnessed her grandmother's death; otherwise, her innocent joy would have long vanished. 0

"Slow down," Qin'er said as she reached out to hold Tide back. She crouched down to help adjust Tide's clothes and smiled, "We’re not in a hurry to get back; let’s take our time!" 0

"If you want anything, just tell me," Qing Luan said gently with a smile. Seeing Qin'er's genuine affection for Tide eased some of the guilt she felt. In recent days, she had been busy with matters concerning the Hu Family while Qin'er took care of Tide. Although she felt guilty about it, there was little she could do. Thankfully, Tide was well-behaved and seemed to be doing well at the Hu Family; her face had gained some color and looked much cuter than before. 0

"I..." Yuan Yuan bit her hand, her adorable eyes blinking as she was about to say something when a harsh voice interrupted their joy, causing the three of them to turn and look at the crowd gathering not far away. 0

"You dead beggar, do you dare to steal my buns? Do you want to die?!" The Little Boss, who was running the bun stall, grabbed the Skinny Beggar who had been sneaking a bite, fiercely squeezing his hand while scolding him. "You come every day and steal from me. I'm running a small business; can't you go steal from someone else?" 0

Perhaps such incidents happened every day, so once the onlookers understood what was going on, they dispersed. Qing Luan had no intention of getting involved; she could barely take care of herself, let alone help others. 0

Holding Tide's hand, she walked forward without looking back. Tide instinctively followed Qing Luan but curiously gazed at the small, dark figure. However, when she slowly turned to meet those familiar eyes, she froze, standing there in a daze, not even hearing Qing Luan calling her name. 0

Qing Luan and her companions encountered an old acquaintance, but who could this acquaintance be? Guess! Hehe! 0
