Zhao Yun broke free from his grip, stepping back two paces while shouting, his eyes filled with anger and grievance.
"You've got some nerve to talk back," Zheng Xinran said, taken aback by the situation for the first time. His pride was bruised, and he coldly mocked, "If you provoke me, you should know what the consequences are." There was a hint of ferocity in his tone, and his previously handsome features took on a somewhat terrifying aspect.
"This isn't your territory. Why do you get to stop me and not allow me to speak?" Zhao Yun protested directly, not understanding the intricacies of their power play. He was simply expressing his grievances without regard for the other person's status, which only added fuel to the fire.
"You little brat who ran out from nowhere, if I don't teach you a lesson today, you'll think I'm easy to bully," he declared, raising his hand as if to strike. However, someone intervened.
"The fish at the dock today is all ours," Qing Luan announced loudly amidst the chaos. "As long as anyone wants to sell, big or small, as long as it's not spoiled, Hu Family Tavern will take it." The more unruly individuals became, the more he ignored them, letting them thrash about.
"Really?" The crowd that had gathered to watch immediately buzzed with excitement. It didn't matter who was fighting or who was getting beaten; making money was what mattered most. They all flocked to Qing Luan, eagerly asking questions.
"Little girl, are you really buying all our fish?" an elderly man asked, suppressing his excitement with a voice worn by age and experience.
Qing Luan nodded and smiled. "I originally bought Uncle Ma's fish, but since Hu Family Tavern is doing well, just his fish isn't enough. So today I'm here to let everyone know that we will take all the fish you want to sell..." The previously raucous noise faded away as Zheng Xinran turned his attention toward her, having pushed Zhao Yun aside to approach.
"Who gave you permission to come here and buy fish?" He sneered at the young girl before him, who seemed so young yet spoke so boldly. "Hu Lingyun is truly useless for allowing such a child to buy fish; it's laughable."
Qing Luan looked at the spoiled young master with a cold gaze and felt like rolling her eyes but restrained herself. "Buying fish is such a trivial matter; the Hu Family would only send a little errand boy to handle it. Why go through all this trouble yourself?" Her tone was light and calm, but her words made Zheng Xinran's expression change instantly.
"You little girl, who are you calling an errand boy?" Today was truly bizarre; why did every little brat seem intent on crossing him? It felt like bad luck for him!
"I'm just saying I'm an errand girl myself," Qing Luan replied with a light smile. "Young master, do you think I said something wrong?" It's best if someone else handles the self-deprecating remarks.
"You... you..." Zheng Xinran was so furious that he couldn't respond, furrowing his brows in disdain as he said, "Hmph, let me tell you, I've bought up all the fish at the dock today. Don't even think about getting a single fish from me." The Hu Family Tavern had been doing exceptionally well lately, reportedly because they had purchased fish that received rave reviews from customers. That's why the old man had sent him here. However, despite buying fish for several days, their business still couldn't compare to others.
Now that the buyers from the Hu Family were right here, if he could buy up all the fish, then the Hu Family Tavern would surely suffer. Once they lost their credibility, their business would definitely decline. At that thought, he felt an even stronger urge to throw money around.
"I'll offer one more coin than usual," Qing Luan said calmly, addressing the fishermen without any argument.
