The events unfolded too suddenly, leaving everyone in shock. Chen Xiaode even forgot to help Aunt Rou, watching helplessly as she painfully fell to the ground. Once he regained his senses, he rushed forward to embrace Aunt Rou, his face filled with astonishment. Hearing Huang's maniacal laughter, he glared with eyes full of fury and venom, saying, "Lock her in the woodshed and keep a close watch on her. Don't let anyone touch her."
"Yes!" the servants replied respectfully.
"Chen Xiaode, I killed your son. Why don't you kill me? Why don't you kill me?" Huang was stunned by his fierce gaze. Seeing that he was not only unperturbed but also forbidding anyone from laying a finger on her, she became utterly bewildered and shouted in fear.
"Someone, fetch a doctor," Chen Xiaode said dismissively as he picked up Aunt Rou and carried her into the room.
"Chen Xiaode, why don't you kill me? Just kill me!" Huang shouted defiantly as she was dragged away, but no one answered her.
The entire Chen Residence was steeped in oppressive silence; no one dared to speak a word or even breathe too loudly for fear that the master might turn violent.
"Ah... Master, it hurts so much," Aunt Rou cried out pitifully, twisting Chen Xiaode's heart with her cries. As he watched basin after basin of blood being carried out, his face was filled with murderous intent; he wished he could stab Huang right then and there.
"Master," the midwife emerged with a grave expression, saying, "The child cannot be saved; it's a developed male fetus!"
The words "male fetus" exploded in Chen Xiaode's mind. He stared blankly at the midwife and hoarsely asked, "It's a boy?"
"Yes, it's a boy," the midwife replied quietly after taking a step back, feeling the terror in his gaze.
"Damnable wretch," Chen Xiaode did not comfort Aunt Rou, who was heartbroken over losing her child; instead, he turned and left.
Seeing Chen Xiaode leave, the midwife turned back into the room. At that moment, Aunt Rou was not heartbroken but looked coldly at the midwife as she sneered, "Indeed very cold-blooded!"
"You’re right; Chen Xiaode only cares about himself and his son. Heh, I wonder what will happen if he finds out that all of this is fake?" The midwife spoke without the fear she had shown in front of Chen Xiaode, mocking instead.
"He'll probably go mad," Aunt Rou said as she threw off the covers and stood up. She turned to the maid beside her and instructed, "Follow him quietly and see how Chen Xiaode deals with Huang."
"Yes!" The maid who had been by her side turned and left.
"This acting is truly exhausting. Aunt Rou, where did you get so much blood? The whole room reeks of it; it's really unbearable!" Aunt Rou covered her nose, looking utterly helpless. Although it was just acting, a little bit of fake blood would have sufficed. A man like Chen Xiaode, who was so self-righteous, would never step into a bloody room.
Even if she died in there, he wouldn't spare her a glance. Fortunately, she was arranged by the young lady; otherwise, given how much Chen Xiaode had doted on her recently, she might have genuinely thought he had feelings for her.
It seemed that Chen Xiaode was indeed heartless to the extreme!
"Miss Rou, the young lady has instructed that once you bring down Huang, you can leave!" Aunt Rou reminded her carefully.
"Yes, I understand!" Miss Rou was anything but weak; instead, there was a hint of pride in her demeanor.
Huang, locked in the woodshed, was in a sorry state. She leaned against the wall, curled up into a ball, ignoring everything outside as if she were asleep. It wasn't until the door of the woodshed was slammed open with a loud bang that she snapped back to reality, staring blankly at the furious Chen Xiaode who looked ready to devour her. A joyful smile broke across her face as she whispered, "It's a boy, right?"
Only then would he have such a ravenous look in his eyes. If it were a girl, he probably wouldn't even glance at her before turning away. In his eyes, everyone was merely a tool; they held no other value.
"You have such a cruel heart to kill my only son," Chen Xiaode was completely oblivious to the absurdity of the situation. His mind was consumed with thoughts of revenge for his son's death.
"Heh... so it really is a son. Good! He died well; otherwise, I would die with my eyes closed!" Huang smirked wickedly upon hearing this news, feeling immensely pleased.
"You want to die?" Chen Xiaode grinned savagely and shot her a venomous glare. "I won't let you die; I want you to suffer more than death!"
"What... what do you want to do?" Huang asked in shock as she realized he had no intention of letting her die.
"What do I want? Hmph! Even flaying your skin and pulling out your tendons won't quench my hatred. You just endure it well; this time, even if that Old Fox comes, I will not let you go," he said with a sinister gaze fixed on her before turning to leave without waiting for her response.
Her hair was disheveled from struggling and resentment; sweat poured down her body, emanating an awful stench that drove Huang nearly insane. Even though she was a concubine's daughter, she had never experienced such days. In the Chen Family, when had it not been her word that counted? Now she found herself in such dire straits without anyone to save her.
Yan'er, if you were still here, you would definitely come to rescue me, wouldn't you? Your father has such a cruel heart to trap me like this. I am unwilling—so unwilling...
Since Aunt Rou's miscarriage, Chen Xiaode has disappeared without a trace. However, with Huang gone, the affairs at Home can only be managed by Aunt Rou. Upon seeing the Chen Family's account books and all their assets, a strange smile appeared on her face—this was truly effortless.
In fact, given the relationship between the young lady and Yun Yiqing, it would have been easy to suppress Chen Xiaode. But the young lady felt that such revenge held no meaning. She wanted to reclaim everything that Madam had sacrificed back then and deliver a fatal blow to Chen Xiaode, allowing him to experience the feeling of falling from heaven into hell. That was why she devised this plan.
"Miss, this is from Miss Rou," Little Luo said. With Qin'er dead and Yun Yiqing gone, Little Luo had been promoted and became Qing Luan's personal maid.
Qing Luan was staring at something outside the window. Upon hearing Little Luo's words, she took what was handed to her and opened it. Her brows furrowed so tightly they could crush a mosquito.
"What happened?" Yun Yiqing walked in directly. Seeing her staring at the letter with a serious expression, she asked curiously.
"Take a look," Qing Luan handed the letter to her and sighed, "Huang's outcome is quite tragic as well. It's a pity that now she thinks of Chen Xiaode as heartless and ungrateful; isn't it a bit too late?"
Yun Yiqing skimmed through it and scoffed, "That's what she deserves. In fact, your mother should thank her; otherwise, it might be your mother who is in deep trouble right now!"
