"What’s all the fuss about?" Fu Tianlin frowned, clearly displeased with the Shopkeeper's panic. 0

"Someone... someone is dead," the Shopkeeper stammered, collapsing onto the ground, unable to recover for a long while. 0

"What? Who died?" Even though he didn’t fully understand the situation, hearing the word "dead" made it impossible for Fu Tianlin to remain calm. He abruptly stood up and lifted the limp Shopkeeper, demanding answers in a harsh tone. 0

"A... a person died in the shop," the Shopkeeper managed to say, trembling with fear. Before he could finish, Fu Tianlin dropped him and strode outside. 0

"Oh my son..." As Fu Tianlin reached the staircase, he heard a heart-wrenching cry. Frowning, he walked in to find a man lying on the ground, his face dark and foaming at the mouth—clearly beyond saving. 0

"What happened?" Seeing the scene before him, Fu Tianlin realized something was seriously wrong. However, he knew that no matter what, the situation had to be resolved. He furrowed his brow and asked solemnly. 0

"This mother and son came into the shop not long ago. They had just started their meal when that young man began foaming at the mouth and died. His mother is crying terribly, claiming that we poisoned her son and demanding compensation!" Yu Wei explained quietly after Fu Tianlin emerged, waiting for his decision. 0

Although this restaurant had been entrusted to him by Zhu Qingluan, Fu Tianlin was officially the Boss, so he understood clearly what actions were appropriate and what were not. 0

"Boss, what... what should we do?" The Shopkeeper stumbled after him, trembling as he asked. 0

"You’re the Boss?" The wailing woman immediately turned her attention to him upon hearing his title. With a piercing scream, she shouted, "You owe me my son! You murderous scoundrel! You poisoned my son; I want your life in return... you must pay for my son's life!" Her venomous words made Fu Tianlin's brow tighten further. 0

"Have you reported this to the authorities?" Fu Tianlin asked calmly despite her outburst. 0

"Yes, as soon as it happened, one of the staff went to report it!" Yu Wei replied in a low voice. "Many people have eaten what they ordered today; there’s definitely no problem with it. I find that woman rather suspicious; be careful!" 0

"Understood." Fu Tianlin nodded subtly and then coldly addressed the woman: "Wait for the officials to arrive before discussing anything further. No amount of shouting will bring your son back." His words struck deep, but he sensed something off about her; her words were laced with malice. 0

"You... you have such a cruel heart!" The woman was taken aback by his words, her expression changing as she began to wail again, "An eye for an eye! You must pay for my son's life..." 0

The business at Tianxiang Restaurant was already thriving, and with it being mealtime, the number of customers had surged. When news of the death spread, everyone rushed out to see what was happening. Some of the more timid patrons didn't even wait for the shopkeeper to settle the bill before slipping away. 0

"How could he have been poisoned?" Someone who frequently dined at Tianxiang Restaurant shouted in confusion, "We've eaten the same dishes; why are we fine while he is dead?" Given that Tianxiang Restaurant was doing so well, surpassing Ruyi Tower, it seemed unlikely that such an incident could occur, making the situation all the more suspicious. 0

"Don't stir up trouble; be careful not to bring disaster upon yourself!" someone whispered a warning. 0

After all, a life had been lost, and if things escalated, it wouldn't be something that could be resolved easily. 0

Before long, a waiter returned with the officials. Without waiting for any questions from them, the woman pointed at Fu Tianlin, accusing him of murder. This infuriated the officials, who scolded her for her rudeness before ordering the body to be removed and instructing her to accompany Fu Tianlin to the magistrate's office to clarify the matter. 0

"Miss," Qing Luan and Zhao Yun were chatting in the courtyard when they noticed Little Luo entering with an unusual expression. They asked in confusion, "Little Luo, what happened?" 0

"Tianxiang Restaurant is in trouble!" Little Luo nervously twisted her fingers as she recounted what she had just heard outside. 0

They were well aware of their miss's background; she had never treated them as outsiders and never hid anything from them, including Yu Wei's identity. So when they heard discussions on the street about a death at Tianxiang Restaurant, they immediately returned. 0

As soon as Qing Luan heard about it, she sensed that something was off but couldn't pinpoint what exactly was wrong. She turned to Zhao Yun, who was sitting in a chair, and said, "Sister, I'm going to check it out. You stay here for a bit; lie down later and don't push yourself too hard, okay?" Zhao Yun's injuries were still healing and required rest. 0

"Okay, sister. Don't worry; I know my limits. Just go quickly!" Zhao Yun reassured her, understanding that her sister's anxiety must have a reason behind it. 0

Without further ado, Qing Luan quickly instructed Little Luo before heading out the door. 0

The incident at Tianxiang Restaurant drew a lot of attention. By the time Qing Luan arrived, a crowd had already gathered outside the government office, making her feel increasingly uneasy about the situation. 0

After finally squeezing her way in, she spotted Yu Wei and approached him without saying a word. Before she could even ask, Yu Wei quietly recounted everything that had happened, disdain evident in his voice. "That woman is crying her heart out, but her son just died, and she leaves him lying there while only shouting for Fu Tianlin to pay with his life. The man couldn’t care less about her..." 0

"Have you figured out her identity?" Qing Luan asked, puzzled by this sudden predicament and its clumsiness. She couldn't shake off a bad feeling that something was amiss. 0

"No," Yu Wei shook his head and explained in a low voice. "I asked the people on the left, and they said they didn't know her. It seems like she's not from around here..." 0

Upon hearing this, Qing Luan fell silent and stopped asking questions. She stared at the woman in the hall who was wailing for justice, feeling an inexplicable disgust. Regardless of the woman's identity or whether she was the deceased's biological mother, her despicable tactics made it hard for anyone to sympathize with her. 0

If Qing Luan's guess was correct, the woman was likely being used by someone; otherwise, she wouldn't be foolish enough to directly accuse Fu Tianlin. After all, while Fu Tianlin was the boss of the restaurant, it was the chef who prepared the food, which had nothing to do with him. If something went wrong, they could easily blame it on a chef with whom they had a grudge and claim it was an act of revenge. Tianxiang Restaurant would just have to pay some silver to settle things without implicating Fu Tianlin. 0

However, the fact that the woman kept insisting on blaming Fu Tianlin indicated that she was unaware of the underlying scheme. She seemed to believe that by holding onto Fu Tianlin, she could extract money from him, which is why she clung to him so desperately. 0

As Qing Luan suspected, Fu Tianlin calmly spoke a few words that left the woman speechless. 0

"My lord, we are just a mother and child struggling to survive. We came to the capital and immediately ran into trouble. How am I supposed to face people if I go back like this?" When her accusations failed to land, the woman resorted to playing the victim in hopes of garnering sympathy. 0
