"Wen Cai" looked at "Elder Brother Li," then at "Hanno," and finally at "Uncle Jiu," hesitantly saying, "Master, I... I also..."
"You can't go," "Elder Brother Li" directly refused. "If you go to Master, there will be no one to take care of him. You need to stay and look after Master."
"Oh," "Wen Cai" replied, feeling relieved inside. He didn't really want to join the army anyway. Going to war meant going to the battlefield, which was the scariest thing for someone as timid as "Wen Cai."
The other three understood "Wen Cai's" character and didn't point it out. "Uncle Jiu" said, "I'll cook dinner tonight, as a farewell for 'Qiu Sheng' and 'Yao Yao.'"
Later, "Elder Brother Li" and "Hanno" each carried a bundle as they left "Hong Kong Island." The bundles contained very few clothes and rations; most of it was made up of the talismans and magical tools that "Uncle Jiu" had prepared for them, hoping these items would help them on the battlefield and provide an extra layer of safety.
On their way, "Hanno" tilted his head and said to "Elder Brother Li," "I feel like we forgot something important."
"Elder Brother Li" thought for a moment and suddenly realized, "We forgot to remind 'Uncle Jiu' about 'Xinyang Feiyun.'"
"What should we do? Should we rush back to remind 'Uncle Jiu'?" "Hanno" asked.
"Forget it," "Elder Brother Li" replied. "'Uncle Jiu's' destiny is the nemesis of 'Yang Feiyun.' No matter how 'Yang Feiyun' schemes, he will ultimately be defeated by 'Uncle Jiu.'"
"That's true. Although the butterfly affected 'Xuan Kui,' it's better to let the plot of 'Zombie Taoist' unfold. It will help 'Uncle Jiu' end his single life and have a partner by his side," "Hanno" chuckled. He quite liked the mysterious "Zhong Jun," believing she was a good match for "Uncle Jiu." One was serious and mature, while the other was quirky and lively; together they complemented each other.
"Hanno" and "Elder Brother Li" decided to head to the front lines. However, before they could reach their destination, shocking news reached their ears—news that stunned all of China and even the world: a certain practitioner of metaphysics from China had used Daoist Arts to kill an entire division of Nihong troops. Later, he competed against Nihong's Onmyoji and achieved a great victory over the Onmyoji of Mudong Kingdom, but now he was being hunted by both the Onmyoji and ninjas of Mudong Kingdom.
"Elder Brother Li" and "Hanno" were left dumbfounded.
"'Mystical Hero,' we've crossed into 'Mystical Hero,'" "Hanno" exclaimed. "Could our master be 'Uncle Jiu'? 'Jia Qianjun' subtly mentioned 'Uncle Jiu' in the movie; the protagonist is from the same era as 'Uncle Jiu.'"
"It seems this is another scheme by 'Porcelain Jar,'" "Elder Brother Li" said. "I remember after watching the movie, I placed my computer along with the video and the script of 'Dawn of the Apocalypse' next to 'Porcelain Jar.'"
“……” Hanno paused for a moment before saying, “This Porcelain Jar is really too presumptuous. Is there still a way to merge into the world of Dawn of the Apocalypse?”
Elder Brother Li frowned, “Given Porcelain Jar's nature, I think it’s quite possible.”
“After fighting Zombies, we have to fight more Zombies!” Hanno waved her fist. “When we get back, I’m definitely going to give Porcelain Jar a piece of my mind.”
Elder Brother Li deflated her enthusiasm, “How are you going to deal with it? Porcelain Jar is an inanimate object, not a person. If you accidentally smash it with too much force, we won’t be able to meet through the time-space portal anymore.”
Hanno grabbed her head in frustration, “…… Ah, I feel like venting.”
Elder Brother Li replied, “Let’s go to the Graveyard tonight and find some ghosts for you to vent on.”
Hanno snorted, “It’s no fun picking on ghosts.”
Elder Brother Li asked, “Then what do you think would be interesting?”
Hanno said, “The main character took out a whole division of Mud-Honored Invaders. Although we’re not as strong as the main character, taking out half a division should be doable for us.”
Elder Brother Li’s eyes lit up at her words, “We could pull off something big.”
“What kind of big?” Hanno asked eagerly.
Elder Brother Li turned towards the east. “The Mud-Honored Invaders are rampaging through our homeland. Why should we just stay here dealing with them instead of directly attacking their base?”
Hanno clapped her hands and laughed, “Great idea! I’ve never been abroad in my past life; let’s go travel abroad together in this world!”
The two did not immediately leave for the country but instead headed to Kyoto, where they witnessed the protagonist of "Mystical Hero" summon the Divine Dragon using Huaxia Dragon Qi, annihilating all the Onmyoji and ninjas from the Mudong Kingdom in a stunning spectacle. The film did not reveal the ending of "Mystical Hero," leaving the audience uncertain whether he had died or not. However, Hanno and Elder Brother Li personally saw "Mystical Hero" exhaust all his power and even his life to summon the Divine Dragon, resulting in a mutual destruction with those Nihong people. This time, with Hanno and Elder Brother Li intervening, they saved "Mystical Hero," nourishing him with spiritual energy and teaching him the basics of cultivation. Perhaps one day, "Mystical Hero" would succeed in his cultivation and become a lasting protector of Huaxia!
After parting ways with "Mystical Hero," the two disguised themselves as Nihong people and traveled to Nihong. Elder Brother Li, having been a member of Special Forces in his past life, had to master various languages in addition to martial skills and technology. Hanno, who was cramming at the last minute, learned Nihong language alongside Elder Brother Li. Thanks to his Divine Sense, he grasped it all in no time.
Hakone, a famous tourist spot in the Mudong Kingdom, is renowned for its hot springs. Soaking in the hot spring while sipping wine and enjoying delicious food was an exquisite pleasure. Hanno and Elder Brother Li leaned against the rock formations in the hot spring, gazing at the sky. The night sky was breathtakingly beautiful, with stars twinkling like jewels scattered across black silk, radiating countless silver glimmers that resembled fireworks blooming but lasted much longer. Suddenly, an ominous dark cloud drifted into the bright night sky, growing larger and gradually obscuring the stars.
Elder Brother Li raised his cup and drank deeply, smiling as he said, “It’s about to begin.”
Hanno poured more wine into Elder Brother Li's cup with a grin: “The high officials and soldiers of Nihong should thank us; we’ve allowed them to witness the long-lost Yokai Parade.”
Elder Brother Li replied, “Nihong’s Yin-Yang Techniques share many similarities with our Daoist Arts; otherwise, we wouldn’t have easily uncovered those ancient Onmyoji’s seals on spirits.”
“Of course! Many of Nihong’s skills were learned from Huaxia,” Hanno said playfully. “How much do you know about Nihong’s hundred demons?”
Elder Brother Li answered, “Not much—only a few famous ones like dogs, Yuki-Onna, Zashiki-warashi, Shōjō (Sake Demon), Blue Priest, and the Nine-Tailed Fox; beyond that, I’m not familiar.”
Hanno proudly declared, “I know more than you do; I’m aware of at least half of them among the hundred demons.”
“Hmm, my dear is indeed amazing,” Elder Brother Li complimented half-heartedly when suddenly they heard a sound from above that resembled a baby crying.
“It’s the call of the Guhuo Bird; the Yokai Parade has begun,” Hanno said.
“The Guhuo Bird? Isn’t it called a ghost car bird? Isn’t it a ghost from Huaxia? How did it end up in Nihong?” Elder Brother Li asked in confusion.
“Yes, it is indeed a ghost bird; it’s also known as the Night-Walking Woman and Imperial Maiden. It can absorb human souls and resides in places illuminated by phosphorescent light. It often comes out at night; when it dons feathers, it transforms into a bird; when it sheds them, it becomes a woman,” Hanno chuckled. “Ghosts traveling abroad don’t need passports—how convenient! The Guhuo Bird came to Nihong during the Tang Dynasty because it found Nihong more suitable for ghosts to thrive and decided to settle here.”
Elder Brother Li rolled his eyes and said, "I hope this time the Yokai Parade won't affect ordinary people."
Elder Brother Li had his principles. Although the Mudong Kingdom invaded Huaxia, he aimed to kill the high-ranking officials and soldiers of Nihong who made the decision to invade, not the common citizens.
Hanno asked, "Don't you have confidence in your Daoist Arts and spells?"
Elder Brother Li smiled, feeling reassured.
After arriving in the Mudong Kingdom, they first conducted covert investigations into the residences of the high-ranking officials in Nihong Palace and the military bases nearby. They set up formations learned from the Pure Yuan Great Six at these locations, then visited various sealed places known for their yokai legends, where they also established formations. The activation of these formations was scheduled for tonight; once activated, the seals would be broken, releasing the yokai trapped within. These yokai would then be transported through the formations to the palace and military base, where their movements would be restricted by another formation, ensuring they could not leave those areas to harm ordinary people. When the time came, the formations would return them to their sealed locations and re-seal them.
For one night, there would be a Yokai Parade, but it would bring destruction without a doubt. The yokai that had been sealed for centuries craved flesh and blood; those high-ranking officials and soldiers were their prey—how could they possibly let them go easily?!
"Do you want another drink?" Hanno asked as he saw Elder Brother Li finish his cup again, holding up the wine bottle.
"No more. If I drink any more and get drunk, how can I do something interesting?" Elder Brother Li reached out and grabbed Hanno's wrist, pulling him into his embrace.
Hanno's hand slipped, causing the wine bottle to fall into the hot spring. The wine poured out into the water, but neither of them cared about wasting such expensive wine. Their lips met tightly, their bodies growing warmer, almost matching the temperature of the spring…
The next day, the people of Mudong Kingdom were left stunned: Nihong's palace and military base had been ravaged by countless yokai. All the high-ranking officials in the palace had been devoured by these spirits; one-third of the soldiers in the military base were eaten by yokai, while the remaining two-thirds fled in a state of mental collapse, unable to serve as soldiers any longer. Left-wing elements in Nihong seized this opportunity to spread rumors that Nihong's current government was invading other countries and had incurred the wrath of deities who sent down punishment through the Yokai Parade to eliminate these greedy warmongers.
This tactic received widespread approval from the people of Nihong. Everyone gathered together demanding that the government step down and establish a new regime while urging soldiers still engaged in invasions abroad to return home quickly.
Hanno and Elder Brother Li lurked among these people watching the spectacle unfold, occasionally stirring up trouble until Nihong's government could no longer bear it and recalled its troops that were invading Huaxia.
