Mo Yan, the Princess, immediately reached out her hand in front of Qi Xueru. "Xueru, please help me check."
Qi Xueru suppressed her racing heart from Hanno's words, steadied herself, and took hold of Qi Xueru's pulse, quietly feeling it for a moment. "The pulse is smooth and flowing, like the movement of a flying bird, but it doesn't jump abruptly like a bean; it's not an artery."
Qi Xueru smiled. "Your pulse feels as smooth as rolling beads. Congratulations, it's indeed a slippery pulse; you are about one and a half months along."
"Really?" Mo Yan, the Princess, asked foolishly, then jumped up in joy. "Haha, I'm going to have a baby! I'm going to be a mother!"
Qi Xueru quickly grabbed her. "Don't jump! Don't jump! You might lose the baby. You're going to be a mother now; how can you be so careless?"
Mo Yan stuck out her tongue and obediently stopped, sitting still and not daring to move around.
Hanno smiled, revealing dimples, and said to Qi Xueru, "You should check your own pulse too."
Qi Xueru shook her head. "No thanks, I'm afraid I won't be calm enough to do it properly."
Hanno said, "I know a bit about medicine; how about I check your pulse?"
Eager to know if she was pregnant as well, Qi Xueru immediately extended her right hand toward Hanno. Hanno chuckled as he took her wrist and after a moment said, "Congratulations! You are already two months pregnant."
Unlike Mo Yan's exuberance, Qi Xueru simply sat quietly, tears of joy streaming down her face. This scene was witnessed by Geng Shi'an and Yue Yunfei, who had just finished work and came to pick up their wives.
Geng Shi'an was taken aback and hurried over to Qi Xueru's side, gripping her shoulders as he asked, "Xueru, what's wrong? What happened? Why are you crying?"
Qi Xueru didn't answer. Hanno laughed and said, "You can find out by checking her pulse yourself!"
Geng Shi'an looked at Hanno in confusion. If something were wrong with Qi Xueru, Hanno wouldn't be smiling so brightly. Checking the pulse? Geng Shi'an's heart skipped a beat as he thought of a possibility and hurriedly followed Hanno's lead. Then Geng Shi'an was left grinning foolishly.
Yue Yunfei pushed Geng Shi'an in confusion. "Brother, what are you laughing at? Have you gone silly?"
Hanno laughed heartily. "Forget about others; once you find out that the Princess is in the same situation as Xueru, you'll be just as foolish."
"Mo Yan? What happened between you and Geng's wife?" Yue Yunfei hurried to his own wife's side. "Why is Geng's wife crying? And you? If you want to cry, I'll lend you my shoulder."
"Fool!" Mo Yan, the Princess, swatted Yue Yunfei away. "Are you going to be a father?"
"What?" Yue Yunfei was stunned.
Geng Shi'an then reacted, joyfully hugging Qi Xueru. "Haha, I'm going to be a father! Xueru, thank you!"
"Going to be a father?" Yue Yunfei also caught on. "Jiang Shi'an, don't look so smug; I'm going to be a father too!"
The Li Family held another banquet that evening to celebrate Yue Yunfei and Geng Shi'an's impending fatherhood. Following this, both the Yue Family and the Geng Family organized their own celebrations. Hanno and Elder Brother Li had no such reservations; they could guarantee their children's absolute safety. However, Hanno did not inform Han Dad and Mom Han about the pregnancy news, fearing they would rush back from Jiangnan. After all, Han Dad's martial arts class was nearing its end, and they would return to D City then, allowing for a surprise announcement.
Back in modern times, Hanno lay on his two-meter-wide bed, feeling too comfortable to get up. However, he eventually rose when his phone rang; it was Master Yuan from Denglin Pavilion calling. Denglin Pavilion was set to hold a large auction in the Provincial Capital, even larger than the one in Harbor City. Master Yuan asked Hanno if he had any treasures for the auction and invited him to participate.
After thinking it over, Hanno accepted Master Yuan's invitation. "I happen to have a jade ornament of Fortune, Prosperity, and Longevity that is quite old. I'll bring it to your company tomorrow for you to appraise."
The jade ornament featured three colors representing Fortune, Prosperity, and Longevity and was carved into the shape of Shou Xing holding a peach of longevity. Shou Xing was crafted from purple-white jade; the longevity peach and its leaves were about one-third the size of Shou Xing itself. The leaves were lush and vibrant with a hint of blue, not much inferior to imperial green; the longevity peach was a vivid red. The three-colored jade itself was already valuable, but its worth was further enhanced by the exquisite craftsmanship. This piece had been carved by a master sculptor from the Great Zhou Dynasty, with delicate and natural lines that blended seamlessly together. Given its size, Master Yuan estimated that it could fetch over fifty million at auction.
"Since that's the case, please take care of it for me," Hanno said without any intention of reclaiming the jade ornament.
Master Yuan was overjoyed and immediately had someone carefully store both the ornament and another piece Hanno brought—a hand-written work by Yu Shinan. The value of Yu Shinan's calligraphy surpassed that of the jade ornament. It should be noted that Yu Shinan was renowned alongside Ouyang Xun, Chu Suiliang, and Xue Ji as one of the four great calligraphers of early Tang Dynasty. His works were classified as upper-middle quality in "Postscript on Calligraphy," which commented: "His strokes are scattered yet free-flowing; true cursive is dictated by fate." In "Calligraphy Discourse," his clerical and running scripts were deemed exquisite: "He inherits the grand style of Wang Xianzhi while embodying the essence of five regions' colors; his elegance shines forth with wisdom and courage." Huang Tingjian from Song praised his representative work "Kongzi Temple Stele," saying: "Yu's calligraphy carved during Zhenguan is worth more than a thousand taels of gold." Li Sizhen from Tang rated his work as upper-middle quality.
Master Yuan was incredibly happy; his somewhat kind old face nearly split into a smile like a chrysanthemum. He felt fortunate to have met Hanno—a remarkable person who allowed him to witness treasures that many would never have the chance to see in their lifetime.
"Sister Han, the auction will be held in half a month at the Ronghua Hall of Jinjiang Hotel. Please attend," Master Yuan said as he handed an invitation to Hanno. Such high-end auctions typically required an invitation for entry. The invitation was exquisitely crafted, with the emblem of Denglin Pavilion made of pure gold, and the golden characters were inlaid with real gold leaf. The value of this invitation alone was no less than five or six thousand yuan. It seemed that Denglin Pavilion was taking this auction very seriously, though it was unclear where their confidence came from, considering they had been quite low-key until now.
Back in ancient times, the Li Residence was in chaos. Hanno hurriedly grabbed a servant and asked, "What happened?"
Seeing Hanno, the servant felt reassured and quickly replied, "Madam, Miss has gone into premature labor."
"Premature labor?" Hanno was taken aback. Li Zhoule's health had been quite good; although she had suffered setbacks in her early years, both Hanno and Elder Brother Li had secretly helped her recover. This pregnancy had been stable; how could she possibly go into premature labor?
"What caused Zhoule to go into premature labor?" Hanno asked.
The servant explained, "Today, Miss was in high spirits and went out shopping with Son-in-law. To ensure her safety, Son-in-law didn't let her scare the horses. It should have been safe, but suddenly someone startled the horses. Although those accompanying them managed to hold back the carriage in time, Miss was still frightened and went into labor as soon as she returned home."
Hanno's brows furrowed in anger as she asked, "What about the person who startled the horses? Were they caught?"
The servant shook his head. "At that moment, everyone's attention was on Miss; that person took advantage of the chaos to escape."
Could this be another scheme by those who couldn't stand Elder Brother Li and herself? Hanno decided to leave the investigation to Elder Brother Li; for now, the most important thing was to ensure Li Zhoule and her child were safe.
"Was the delivery smooth?" Hanno inquired.
The servant's face turned grim. "The midwife says there are signs of complications; Son-in-law has already sent someone to summon a physician."
Hanno's expression darkened as she quickly made her way to the courtyard where Li Zhoule and Wen Zixia were staying. Wen Zixia was leaning out of the window, calling into the room repeatedly, "Zhoule, I'm here with you; you must be okay. Zhoule, I'm here; I'm right here..."
The door swung open, and Wen Zixia rushed forward but only saw a maid carrying a basin of blood coming out. Wen Zixia staggered back, nearly collapsing, and was steadied by a pair of hands.
"Xin, if you fall and get hurt, what will Zhoule do?"
Wen Zixia grasped Hanno's hand tightly, pleading, "Sister Han, please save Zhou Le, save our child."
Due to their earlier experiences, Hanno was seen as an irreplaceable figure in Wen Zixia and the Li siblings' eyes. Even after learning that Hanno was not a deity but a person from another world, they still regarded her as immensely powerful. Now that she was present, Wen Zixia felt a wave of relief wash over him; as long as Hanno was there, he believed his wife and child would be safe.
"Don't worry, I will help them," Hanno reassured Wen Zixia. "You should go change your clothes first. I promise that by the time you return, Zhou Le will have given birth."
Wen Zixia lowered his head and noticed the bloodstains on his outer robe. He had just carried Li Zhoule back to the courtyard, and all the blood she had lost was now on him. Seeing this blood made Wen Zixia's heart ache even more. How much suffering had Zhou Le endured!
"I'll change right away," Wen Zixia said before rushing back to his room. He quickly wiped himself down with the hot water prepared by the servants and changed into a clean robe before stepping outside, where he found Hanno already in the delivery room.
Just as Wen Zixia was about to peek through the window again, he heard the midwife's joyful voice from inside: "It's here! It's here!"
Then came the sound of a baby's cry. Although it wasn't as loud as that of an ordinary newborn, to Wen Zixia's ears, it was like music. After a while, another cry echoed out.
The door swung open, and the maid who had gone out to dispose of the blood returned. This time, her face was devoid of worry and fear; instead, it radiated joy. She approached Wen Zixia and bowed respectfully. "Congratulations, Son-in-law! A pair of sons has been born safely, both mother and children are well."
Wen Zixia breathed a sigh of relief; his legs went weak, and he sank to the ground. "That's wonderful! That's wonderful!"
Then he sprang back up from the ground. "I have sons! I have sons..."
Hanno couldn't help but chuckle at Wen Zixia's ecstatic pacing in the courtyard. Turning to Li Zhoule on the bed, she said, "Your husband is so overjoyed he’s lost his mind. You should get some good rest; when you wake up, you’ll be able to see your sons and your husband."
Li Zhoule smiled faintly and closed her eyes, drifting off into a peaceful sleep. Hanno stepped outside holding two freshly cleaned babies. They were incredibly small; such premature infants had almost no chance of survival in ancient times. However, Hanno infused them with a stream of Spiritual Energy that would ensure their health improved steadily.
"Zi Xia, come meet your sons," Hanno called out to bring the ecstatic father back to reality. Wen Zixia rushed over immediately and reached out to hold one of the babies, continuously thanking Hanno. "Thank you, Sister Han! It's all thanks to you that they were born safely."
Hanno smiled and said, "There's no need for thanks among family; go on and take a look at your sons."
He stretched the child in his arms forward, allowing Wen Zixia to see the baby's face clearly. The newborn was red and wrinkled, even uglier than a monkey, yet in Wen Zixia's eyes, it was incredibly cute and beautiful. He held his child at the same height as Hanno's and looked back and forth, grinning as he said, "Although these two are twins, they look different. They must be considerate and don’t want us to have trouble telling them apart."
Hanno looked at one and then the other, puzzled; she thought all newborns looked the same!
"Don't they look alike? How can I not tell them apart?"
Wen Zixia wore a proud expression of a silly father, pointing out to Hanno, "This one's eyes are like mine, this one's eyes are like Zhou Le's; this one's eyebrows are like mine, this one's eyebrows are like Zhou Le's; this one's nose is like mine, this one's nose is like Zhou Le's; this one's mouth is like mine, this one's mouth is like Zhou Le's; this one's ears are like mine, this one's ears are like Zhou Le's..."
Hanno grew tired of his incessant comparisons and said directly, "So the one in my hands looks like you, and the one in yours looks like Zhou Le, right?"
Wen Zixia nodded repeatedly, admiringly saying, "Sister Han always summarizes things so clearly."
That’s because you’ve gone silly; anyone else could reach the same conclusion. Hanno couldn't help but laugh as she swapped the two children with Wen Zixia.
A servant entered with Geng Shi'an. Upon seeing the children in their arms, Geng Shi'an asked in confusion, "Wasn't Zhou Le in danger and showing signs of complications? Why are the babies already born by the time I arrive? Did I come for nothing?"
"How could it be for nothing? Come quickly and check on the babies to see if there's anything wrong," Hanno urged. She hadn’t expected that the doctor would be Geng Shi'an; she thought it would just be any random physician. It seemed Geng Shi'an had rushed over after hearing about Li Zhoule's danger. Wen Zixia felt especially grateful for that.
There’s something going on today; I can only update Xinyi’s chapter. Please forgive me.
