Hanno chuckled and turned to leave, saying, "I'll be waiting outside. Hurry up."
Before long, Elder Brother Li emerged from the room. "The Emperor has fainted. Once he wakes up, he will be free from the Queen's mental manipulation."
Hanno asked, "Where did the Queen go?"
Elder Brother Li replied, "Where else could she go but to the Farmland?"
The two quickly left the palace and headed towards the Farmland. Unlike the palace, the Farmland lacked a defense system, allowing them to easily sneak in.
"There's a demonic aura, and a strong smell of blood," Elder Brother Li said, wrinkling his brow as he sniffed the air.
"The resentment and yin energy here are also quite thick," Hanno remarked, frowning as well. "Many have died unjustly here."
Following the intense scent, they entered an underground chamber. The Farmland had indeed gone all out, constructing an underground city beneath its estate. A quarter of the space was filled with treasures, another quarter with weapons, and the remaining half served as a training ground for the dead soldiers.
"Farmland is clearly planning a rebellion," Hanno said as he began to store some of the weapons from the treasure section into his own space. "No wonder they want to seize the Treasure Basin."
Elder Brother Li searched around in the Treasure Vault. "The Treasure Basin isn't stored here."
"There’s another level below," Hanno said as he and Elder Brother Li continued downward, where the smell of blood and resentment was strongest.
The lower level was extravagantly decorated, even more so than the estate above. However, it was at least two-thirds smaller in area and contained over thirty rooms. Hanno and Elder Brother Li searched one of the rooms and found the Treasure Basin. It was indeed a replica of the Eastern Emperor Bell; the Treasure Basin looked just like the Porcelain Jar before its upgrade. Hanno knocked out a middle-aged man who was admiring the Treasure Basin and stored it away.
"I think we've found the Queen," Hanno said as they reached a large bathroom where a pool comparable to a pond was filled not with water but with fresh blood. A young and beautiful woman sat gracefully in the center of the pool, absorbing vitality from the blood.
"How many lives did it take to fill this pool?" Hanno said in disgust as he stared at the stunning beauty above the Blood Pool. Although she was a demon, there was no trace of demonic energy about her; instead, she possessed an elegant and dignified appearance. No wonder she could become the Queen.
Elder Brother Li's expression darkened as well. "This woman has already attained demon immortality."
Hanno said, "Even if it costs us our lives, we won't let this woman go. Otherwise, more people will be harmed by her."
Elder Brother Li pulled her back, "Don't be impulsive. Neither of us is a match for this woman. Isn't there still the Emperor?"
"Right, the Emperor!" Hanno's eyes lit up. She couldn't believe that once the Emperor regained consciousness, he would tolerate the existence of this Queen.
As soon as she finished speaking, a violent tremor shook the ground above them, and a fierce sword aura slashed toward the female demon over the Blood Pool. Elder Brother Li quickly pulled Hanno out of the underground city.
"The Emperor's reaction is so fast," Hanno remarked as she looked up. There were two figures above them: one appeared to be in his thirties, while the other was a young boy who looked even younger than Wen Zixia. She couldn't discern their cultivation levels, but they were certainly higher than hers and Elder Brother Li's.
"As an Emperor, being toyed with by a Seductress is a disgraceful history that must be eradicated as soon as possible," Elder Brother Li thought, feeling a surge of blood boiling within him. He kept shouting in his heart: I need to grow stronger, I need to grow stronger, to surpass those two above. Throughout many worlds, Elder Brother Li had always been among the strongest, which had made him lack urgency in his cultivation. Now, feeling the overwhelming presence of those two powerful beings, his competitive spirit was ignited.
Hanno exhaled, "I thought we were going to fight that female demon!"
In the midst of their conversation, the female demon had already flown out from underground; blood was flowing from her chest, clearly injured by the previous sword aura.
"Esteemed ones," she pleaded, "I have no enmity with you. Why do you come here and treat me so harshly?"
The young boy shouted angrily, "You vile creature! You have malicious intent and have deceived three generations of emperors of the Great Qin Dynasty. How dare you distort right and wrong? Today, I will take you down!"
The female demon's face turned pale; she hadn't expected that despite her carefulness, she would still be discovered by a Cultivator from the royal family of Great Qin. She hurriedly defended herself: "Although I have enchanted the Emperor, it was only to absorb a bit of dragon energy for my cultivation. I have not harmed the Emperor or Great Qin in any way. I beg you to show mercy and spare me."
"Are you still trying to argue?" the boy retorted angrily. "Though you haven't directly harmed the royal family, you've given numerous benefits to Farmland and secretly supported their rebellion while absorbing the blood of living beings to maintain your youth. Such wicked deeds! Do you think we will let you go? Dream on!"
The female demon's face shifted from white to a deep shade of green as she realized this situation could not end well for her. Gritting her teeth, she suddenly pulled out two magical artifacts and attacked the two cultivators.
"Grain of Light." The boy scoffed disdainfully and reached out for one of the artifacts. Little did he know that this female demon was quite decisive; she commanded her artifacts to self-destruct. Caught off guard for a moment, he sustained injuries that were neither light nor heavy; his companion suffered similarly. For a brief moment, they couldn't focus on capturing the female demon, allowing her to escape into the air. However, before she could flee beyond the city limits, she was ensnared by a barrier, and the boy along with his companion pursued closely behind her.
"Beast, do you think the capital and palace of the Great Qin Dynasty can be entered or exited at your whim?"
The female demon clutched her chest, disbelief etched on her face. "Impossible! I have already used the Emperor's influence to have the palace and capital's defensive seals acknowledge me. How could they possibly trap me?"
The middle-aged man replied, "Because my nephew has modified the seals. Demon, do you really think the True Dragon Son was so easily deceived by you? Although my nephew was momentarily ensnared by your Mind Control Technique, he has now awakened and immediately contacted us to capture you."
"He's actually regained his senses?" The female demon was struck hard. She had always prided herself on her ability to enchant others, never expecting that an ordinary person like the Emperor, with no cultivation, could break free from her mind control. Could it be due to the protection of dragon energy? Meanwhile, Hanno and Elder Brother Li, both esteemed figures, quietly observed from the sidelines.
"Demon, prepare to die!" The young man commanded his Flying Sword to strike at the female demon. She attempted to flee but was bound by the seals and had no means of escape, watching helplessly as the sword light approached.
"No—" she screamed in despair as she transformed into a cloud of Blood Mist. The middle-aged man shot forth a flame that incinerated the Blood Mist completely.
"Let's go; there’s much more to deal with. What a hassle!" The young man said to the middle-aged man, indicating that he held a higher status.
Once they had moved far away, Hanno and Elder Brother Li revealed themselves.
"Those two must be of immortal cultivation," Hanno remarked with a sigh.
Elder Brother Li looked toward their departing figures with determination. "One day, I will catch up to them."
Hanno gently replied, "Alright, let’s head to the deep mountains for training."
Elder Brother Li grasped his arm. "Okay."
However, they did not leave the capital immediately; they wanted to see how this incident would unfold. Soon after, news spread throughout the capital that Farmland had been punished by immortals. The Emperor dispatched people to imprison all those from Farmland and ordered a search in their underground city for weapons and assassins, exposing their plot for rebellion. The Emperor swiftly decreed that all members of Farmland be executed. Shortly thereafter, news spread through the palace that the Queen had died of illness, and no one questioned this announcement.
Following this, the Emperor ordered a Selection event; families with daughters eagerly sent them to the palace, hoping their daughters would become the next Queen. By the time Hanno and Elder Brother Li left the capital, all Court Ladies had gathered there, and the Selection event was in full swing with various unexpected incidents occurring one after another. Due to her youth and beauty, Hanno was also considered among those participating in the Selection as a Court Lady and found herself caught in schemes devised by other Court Ladies, which amused her greatly.
Having spent nearly a thousand years in this world, Hanno and Elder Brother Li finally cultivated to the Great Completion realm. Together they weathered their tribulation and ascended to another realm. Upon arrival in this new realm, they were nearly blinded by dazzling light. They saw golden rays rolling like red rainbows and auspicious clouds spewing purple mist. Palaces stood tall with shimmering jade structures adorned with brilliant gems; pillars were entwined with golden-scaled dragons basking in sunlight while auspicious beasts sat atop rooftops devouring gold. In gardens bloomed eternal flowers of extraordinary beauty competing for attention alongside evergreen herbs that were lush and refreshing. It was truly a realm of golden palaces and silver halls filled with exquisite flora—nothing like anything found in the mortal world.
Hanno and Elder Brother Li both took a deep breath.
Hanno said, "Why do I feel like the Celestial Realm is even more luxurious than the Mortal Realm? It's nothing like I imagined."
Elder Brother Li paused for a moment before replying, "Perhaps this is the location of the Centralized Authority, just like a royal palace in the human world—lavish beyond imagination. The places where ordinary immortals live are probably just as we envision: surrounded by green mountains and clear waters."
"Centralized Authority?" Hanno blinked.
Elder Brother Li pointed to a jade archway ahead and said, "Look over there." Hanno walked closer and saw three large characters inscribed in bird script on the archway: "South Gate"!
Hanno also fell silent for a moment before asking Elder Brother Li, "Do you think there will be Seven Fairies, Nezha, Yang Jian, and Sun Wukong here?"
Elder Brother Li replied, "It's very possible."
Just then, a soldier clad in golden armor approached them. "New arrivals? Follow me to the Transcendence Pool first, then we'll go to Tai Bai Jin Xing to register."
"Register at Tai Bai Jin Xing?" Hanno asked. "Isn't Tai Bai Jin Xing the Jade Emperor's envoy responsible for conveying his orders? Why are they also in charge of registering newcomers?"
"Because Tai Bai Jin Xing is not only His Majesty's secretary and envoy but also the head of the personnel records management bureau!"
Hanno and Elder Brother Li exchanged glances, speechless.
What a modern management system!
