"The second treasure is the 'Heavenly Sand Scripture' hidden in Evil Ghost Gorge and Snake King Temple," Hanno said. "The 'Heavenly Sand Scripture' is a celestial technique left by the senior immortal He Shadao. It contains the profound transformations of the five elemental true energies and is one of the most renowned cultivation manuals among the unorthodox sects. Even if one cannot directly ascend to immortality, they can still cultivate to the Celestial Realm. This He Shadao has some connection with Han Yuebai; He Shadao was a disciple of Divine Camel Yixiu. He attained enlightenment during the Eastern Jin period and was contemporaneous with Chosanzi, the master of Changmei Zhenren, the founder of the Emei Sect, who was quite famous."
"With these two techniques corroborating each other, how could Cui Haike not achieve immortality?"
"I'll go retrieve it now," Elder Brother Li said as he stood up.
Hanno also got to her feet. "Shall I accompany you?"
Elder Brother Li looked at her belly. "It's not convenient for you right now; you shouldn't go."
Hanno rolled her eyes at him. "Please, am I an ordinary pregnant woman? My belly is strong; it's not like I'm going out to fight. Nothing will happen."
With his wife in this condition, what else could Elder Brother Li do? He had no choice but to take Hanno along. Throughout their journey, he remained anxious, fearing something might happen to her, which earned him Hanno's scoffs. They first arrived at Evil Ghost Gorge and after some effort, finally found Orochidera Temple. Not only did they locate the 'Heavenly Sand Scripture,' but they also obtained a Gold Thread net made from a millennium-old golden spider within Snake King Temple. The two copied down the 'Heavenly Sand Scripture' and intended to return it to its original place for someone fated to find it later, but they took the Gold Thread net with them. One of their purposes for coming to Shushan World was to acquire its vast treasures, and now that they had obtained one, how could they let it go?
Next, they needed to search for Baiyang Zhenren's relics. The two arrived at Qian Gui Border, where thousands of miles of mountains were densely packed together. Except for the area around Yellow Lion Stronghold where various tribes resided, despite its beautiful scenery and being a dwelling place for celestial spirits, it had remained unexplored since ancient times. In these deep mountains lay many creatures like Mountain Demon Wood Spirits and Creeping Python Oddities. However, correspondingly, there were also many valuable items. They weren't in a hurry to find Flower Rain Cave and wandered through the mountains casually while collecting local specialties. They gathered Polygonatum over a thousand years old, ginseng, and lingzhi mushrooms... Although these were of no use to them directly, they would be quite valuable back in modern times or in Da Zhou. Elder Brother Li even discovered a Zhu Guo Tree, although its fruits were not yet ripe. He carefully dug it up and placed it in his space, hoping to see if he could cultivate it successfully upon returning to modern times.
After wandering through the mountains for nearly a month, they finally found Flower Rain Cave. The cave was divided into three layers: front, middle, and back. The front cave was bright and clean; the middle cave was deep within the mountain's belly—though grand and vast—it lacked the clarity of the front cave. The walls inside were marked with remnants of past excavations by previous explorers. Approaching the end of the cave wall, they saw a stone tablet about two zhang high and three feet thick with no inscriptions on it. Turning around the tablet revealed an entrance to the back cave that stood about ten feet tall. Upon entering, they found an exceptionally dark and eerie interior that was much larger than both the front and middle caves; aside from a stone platform in the center and several scattered stone pillars of varying lengths, there was nothing particularly remarkable.
As they approached the walls again, Hanno and Elder Brother Li had already regained half of their cultivation level equivalent to Yuan Ying San Xian in this world; thus, the darkness in the cave could not obstruct their vision. They clearly saw the images on the walls—twelve human-shaped seated figures all leaning forward. The first figure had both hands resting on its knees with its head bowed slightly as if gazing inward; the second figure appeared more upright and relaxed. The remaining ten seated figures were identical with no discernible differences among them. Many local cultivators might have overlooked these twelve images, but having read the original text, both knew that these twelve images were crucial and took out parchment to meticulously sketch them.
Within Flower Rain Cave besides White Sun Relic lay a needle technique and two boxes of Máng bait. Máng bait is a spiritual medicine like Zhu Guo or Wan Zai Kong Qing that can alter one's aptitude, solidify foundations, and enhance power; however, it is best taken before one attains scattered immortality (before forming an infant), so it likely wouldn't be useful for Hanno or Elder Brother Li anymore. However, they could leave one box for Liu Lei while bringing back the rest to modern times.
The needle technique was known as White Sun Needle Technique—a unique method for controlling a peculiar Flying Sword—flying needles. Its power wasn't particularly great; thus, they decided not to use this technique and left it behind in Flower Rain Cave.
Hanno was thrilled with their substantial gains; her eyes curved as she turned to Elder Brother Li and said, "The tomb of Ancient Corpse Wu Huashi is nearby; there are plenty of treasures inside! Should we go get them?"
"No way!" Elder Brother Li immediately objected. "The combat power of the Wu family and Qiongqi is not low. You are pregnant now; you can't take risks!"
Hanno rolled his eyes at him. "I'm not going to kill three fierce beasts. The mission to eliminate the threat is definitely left to Lingyun Feng and Yang Jin. Have you forgotten how we stole the Queen Mother's Peach of Immortality?"
Elder Brother Li scratched his head and smiled awkwardly. Indeed, even the immortals in the courtyard couldn't detect the stealth techniques from another world, let alone the three not-so-bright Ancient Corpses. In the end, Elder Brother Li couldn't argue with Hanno and followed him into the hidden passage of the Wu family tomb.
The entrance to the passage was in a very secluded valley, covered by dense vines. If it weren't for Hanno's and his Divine Sense, they wouldn't have noticed it at all.
Entering the cave and walking inward for about twenty miles, they gradually felt a dampness on their bodies, as if clouds and mist were rising around them. The fog thickened, making it hard to breathe. However, the starlight ahead was not obscured by the mist; it remained bright and radiant. Then they found themselves blocked by a row of large wooden stakes. Looking through the gaps, they could see flickering starlight beyond, but they were unable to advance further due to the obstruction. The mist grew heavier, carrying a faint fragrance of orchids that wafted through the air.
Hanno quickly said to Elder Brother Li, "There are sentient stone men here, but don't worry too much; these stone men have no brains. As long as we don't make noise, they won't notice us."
After passing through the barrier, they encountered a monster that looked white as a rope, draping over its shoulders. Its eyes were as large as basins, shining with a green light. Its mouth was wide open, revealing silver teeth like axes. It stood eight zhang tall, with arms four zhang long and as thick as giant trees. Upon closer inspection, it was indeed a sentient stone man.
As Hanno had said, the stone man was very clumsy; even when the two did not conceal themselves, it did not notice them. They circled around the stone man and walked several zhang away until they came across a stone tablet about ten feet high, faintly inscribed with red characters. Upon closer inspection, it only had four large characters: "Enter and Die," written in bold red ink that was strikingly vivid and powerful, with no indication of its age or origin. Behind the tablet stood another monster with a dragon's head, two twisted horns like tree trunks, a bird's body with wide wings—its length was unknown—and eyes as large as bowls that shone with a dark luster.
Hanno and Elder Brother Li quickly activated their invisibility techniques.
"This is the Ancient Divine Pigeon? Truly extraordinary," Elder Brother Li admired as he stared at the Ancient Divine Pigeon.
"If you like it, take it back as a pet," Hanno suggested.
Elder Brother Li shook his head. "Forget it. Although the Ancient Divine Pigeon is nice, we don't have space to keep living creatures. We can't bring it back to Da Zhou; it's not worth offending Yang Jin and her master over an Ancient Divine Pigeon."
Hanno pouted, "In the future, we will seek more treasures, and we will definitely offend Emei and the Fentuo Old Nun."
Elder Brother Li replied, "As long as we keep a low profile, it will be fine. If we don’t use those famous magical artifacts, how would the people from Emei know that the treasures are in our hands?"
Hanno chuckled, "That's a good plan. We can quietly accumulate wealth without showing off."
After passing another stone tablet, they came across two stone doors. Behind the doors lay a large stone bed with a long dead body resting on it. The corpse was dressed in peculiar attire, its head resembling that of a wild beast, with eyes half a foot long that formed a thin line, slightly revealing glimmers of light as if they were both open and closed. Its upper and lower lips were thick with bristles, coarse and strong like quills, exuding an exceptionally fierce and intimidating presence. In its left hand, it held a bow, while its right grasped a weapon that looked like neither a spear nor a club made of stone and wood. The body lay back with its head inside and feet outside. On either side of the stone bed stood ancient stone cauldrons, each several feet in diameter, filled halfway with black oil. Each cauldron had three lamp heads emitting flickering flames that shimmered with various colors; the wicks were as thick as human arms and made of unknown materials. This Ancient Corpse should be Rong Dun; the two did not disturb it and slowly retreated.
Outside the stone chamber where the Ancient Corpse was placed, there were two more chambers. Hanno and Elder Brother Li quietly slipped inside one of them. One chamber housed an ancient and unadorned large cauldron, which should be the Nine Tripod Cauldrons. Beside the Nine Tripod Cauldrons was a stone platform holding a precious mirror known as the Void Mirror. Both treasures were surrounded by restrictions that could only block people from this world but could not stop Hanno and Elder Brother Li. Each chose one treasure; Elder Brother Li took the Nine Tripod Cauldrons while Hanno claimed the mirror.
"Let's hurry," Hanno urged anxiously. Although they had not triggered any restrictions, this was the territory of the Three Fiends, and they would soon realize that two treasures were missing. The two did not want to confront the Three Fiends just yet.
As soon as the Nine Tripod Cauldrons landed in Elder Brother Li's hands, they quickly shrank to the size of a child's fist. Elder Brother Li stored it in his space pouch, completely severing its connection to this world.
The two quickly exited Wuhua's Ancient Tomb and stood under the sunlight, exchanging smiles filled with a sense of accomplishment akin to completing a game level.
"We're heading to the South Sea now," Elder Brother Li said.
Hanno nodded, "It's better to resolve Causality sooner rather than later."
With determination, they rode their Flying Sword towards the South Sea and arrived at Gathering Pings Island's Baishi Cave in no time. Lingxuzi Cui Haike had once calculated his disciple's fate and knew that his disciple would eventually become part of Emei. For this reason, Cui Haike could only sigh; he had no destiny for immortality himself but felt content that his disciple could cultivate orthodox techniques. However, he did not expect that when his disciple returned to see him this time, he found that he could no longer discern his disciple's future clearly. It was certain that his disciple's connection to the Emei Sect had been completely severed.
