Chen Rui and the others hurried out of the hospital room, their frantic movements prompting the security guard at the entrance to rush in. Only after confirming that Mr. Guosheng was unharmed did he retreat.
Once in the parking lot, Chen Rui activated the police lights and sirens as they climbed into the police car, driving recklessly through the streets. After all, those with insufficient authority would be unable to trace this police vehicle's details, and those with enough power wouldn’t take any action against them.
After parking in the company’s garage, Chen Rui didn’t even turn off the police lights. He tossed the keys to the guard and rushed into the building.
Peng Hao, Yu Mingming, and Wang Conghui were anxiously pacing in the lobby. Upon seeing Chen Rui, they quickly gathered around him.
“We need to go to Guo Luxing’s place now; I’ll explain on the way,” Peng Hao said to Chen Rui.
“What’s going on?” Chen Rui led everyone out of the company. “Haven’t we found Lin Yan yet? Can we deduce where she might have gone?”
Yu Mingming wiped the sweat from his forehead. “Not really. We’ve analyzed Lin Yan’s personality thoroughly, but with her character, how could we possibly guess where she went? She… ” Yu Mingming abruptly stopped his sentence.
“It’s fine; there are no outsiders here,” Chen Rui reassured as they entered the parking lot again and got back into the police car. This time, they turned off all the lights and sirens, quietly heading toward Guo Luxing’s location.
“We can currently conclude that Lin Yan is extremely introverted. So far, she hasn’t confided in anyone. Perhaps she has shared something with Guo Luxing, but because of her nature, this kind-hearted girl would definitely not want her only friend to feel distressed because of her… so it’s not impossible,” Yu Mingming explained.
“However, the odds are still low. After all, she possesses such outstanding abilities; I feel she wouldn’t take her own life,” Peng Hao added, completing Yu Mingming's implied meaning. “But there is still a chance. The probability is uncertain since Lin Yan is very hard to read; perhaps she is just too simple—so straightforward that she doesn’t hide anything at all—making it impossible for us to know her whereabouts or thoughts.”
“Does Guo Luxing know?” Chen Rui wasn’t driving fast; he certainly couldn’t match his return speed and wanted to gather more information along the way.
“Not sure; that guy is still lost in thought in his living room,” Wang Conghui replied with a hint of sarcasm.
“So if we go there now, it will expose that Lin Yan is missing?” Chen Rui countered.
“Yes. Even if we don’t directly reveal it, he will definitely find a way to bring Lin Yan out. But this was bound to happen sooner or later,” Peng Hao responded. “You two just pretend you’re there for cleanup work; we won’t go directly. If he finds out that we’ve been secretly observing him, anyone would be put off by that.”
"Yes, indeed." Chen Rui agreed with Peng Hao's plan. "Moreover, if Guo Luxing and Lin Yan have a good enough relationship, he should be able to guess Lin Yan's whereabouts."
"No, wait, are we really going in these outfits?" Liang Yu, sitting in the passenger seat, finally spoke up. "Isn't that a bit inappropriate?"
"It's fine. We just came from the hospital and want to talk to Guo Luxing about Lin Yan's unexpected disappearance. We're 'helping' him find Lin Yan," Chen Rui explained. "The best script is one that aligns closely with the facts."
At the entrance of the district, after dropping off Peng Hao and the others and explaining their intentions to the security guard, they drove the police car into the area.
This was an upscale neighborhood divided into three types of residences: 110-square-meter duplexes, 240-square-meter large apartments, and over 500-square-meter duplex suites.
Guo Luxing's residence was a duplex suite located on the top floor. As Chen Rui entered the area, he could fully appreciate its luxury, but upon entering Guo Luxing's home, he was once again overwhelmed by its opulent layout.
"It's you! Why are you dressed like this? Who is this?" Guo Luxing smiled as he welcomed Chen Rui and Liang Yu into his home.
"This is my assistant, Liang Yu. This is our esteemed client, Mr. Guo Luxing."
"Hello, Mr. Guo," Liang Yu unexpectedly extended his hand politely.
Guo Luxing smiled and shook Liang Yu's hand before inviting them to sit on the sofa in the living room. "What brings you here dressed like this?"
"Did we scare you?" Chen Rui joked. "This place is truly luxurious; how much did it cost?" He noticed that Guo Luxing's duplex suite had undergone significant renovations—the second level visible from the living room had been removed, greatly expanding the space and leaving every detail on display.
The interior decor was not overly extravagant; rather, it seemed somewhat mismatched with the high property values of the area. However, the angular spaces and soaring ceilings of over eight meters created an impression of grandeur. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room offered a direct view of the night scenery beyond the balcony—truly beautiful.
"You didn't scare me; I haven't done anything illegal," Guo Luxing replied with a smile at Chen Rui. "But you two in police uniforms—aren't you worried about being exposed?"
"No, no, no? We are formal employees, of course, temporary formal employees," Chen Rui said with a smile, tapping twice and putting on a serious expression.
"I'm really not used to this. Just get to the point. Oh, is it about that Member...?" Guo Luxing began.
"We just visited your father," Chen Rui interrupted Guo Luxing.
"You... so what? By the way, Lin Yan! Lin Yan! We have a guest, come out!" Guo Luxing shouted toward the bedroom.
"You might find it hard to believe right now, but your father's thoughts are quite similar to yours," Chen Rui's words struck Guo Luxing like a thunderbolt; that was exactly the effect he wanted.
Guo Luxing was momentarily stunned before he laughed, "How could that be..." His smile revealed a hint of helplessness.
"It’s true," Liang Yu said as he took out his phone, turned the volume up to maximum, and started playing a recording.
Seeing this, Chen Rui shook his head. "How can you do this? I promised Mr. Guo Sheng that I wouldn’t leave any records."
"That’s your promise, not mine. Besides, I did it myself; it has nothing to do with you. We need some solid proof; empty words won’t help," Liang Yu replied with a smile at Chen Rui.
An elderly voice came from the phone. "Two years ago..."

"What... should I do?" Guo Luxing said with a bitter smile.
"You should believe this now," Liang Yu looked at Guo Luxing. "The conflict between you and your father is as fragile as a piece of paper; neither of you is willing to tear it."
"Maybe," Guo Luxing said as he stood up and walked to the bedroom door, speaking gently to someone inside.
After a long while, there was no response...
Guo Luxing opened the bedroom door, revealing an empty room...
Chen Rui and Liang Yu hurried over, their expressions flustered. The bedroom had been converted into a separate duplex loft; the first floor was a regular bedroom, with stairs leading up to the second floor.
The three of them ascended to the second floor, where a large window stood open, and beneath it was a table.
"It looks like she went out through here, but that doesn't make sense. How could she get down from here?" Chen Rui asked.
"The rooftop; you can go directly down from the stairs," Guo Luxing replied, visibly relieved. "She's still the same, hasn't changed at all."
"Do you know where she went?" Chen Rui asked tentatively.
Guo Luxing gazed out the window at the bright moon hanging in the sky and nodded. "Yeah, I have a rough idea."
"Aren't we going to look for her?" Liang Yu asked anxiously.
"No need; she'll handle it herself and come back when she's ready."
Liang Yu scoffed at Guo Luxing's attitude. "That's really irresponsible."
"Hmm? Right! I'm going too. Let's go find her," Guo Luxing muttered to himself before quickly changing his mind and grabbing Chen Rui as they rushed out the door.
"Oh? Did I wake you up with my scolding?" Liang Yu laughed happily.
"No, I was just thinking that if I go, things might go a bit smoother. Besides, I will have to face him sooner or later, so thank you all," Guo Luxing replied with a genuine and bright smile.
Chen Rui walked over to the car and asked, "Where to?"
"First People's Hospital. You all seem quite professional; everything is standard police issue," Guo Luxing noted.
The three of them got into the police car and headed towards City One Hospital once again.

Beijing First People's Hospital, Ward 1:
"So, does this mean I misunderstood you?" Guosheng said half-jokingly to the girl in front of him.
"Of course! Isn't that how it is?" Lin Yan replied with a faint smile. "However, I'm still a bit happy to have your recognition."
"Isn't that a nice smile? Why do you have to smile like that?" Guosheng chuckled as he chatted with Lin Yan.
Lin Yan waved her hand dismissively. "I don't even know how to smile naturally. Sometimes I just find myself smiling without realizing it. But when I try to force a smile, it never comes out right."
"That's definitely not the effect I'm talking about. You have no idea what kind of smile I saw back then," Guosheng said, ruffling Lin Yan's hair. "You're really quite genuine."
"Is that so? I don't think so. Did I not do well in the job you arranged for me before?"
Guosheng laughed heartily, and after his laughter subsided, he looked at Lin Yan and said, "That's not the same thing. How can I trust you with the company like this? You still have a lot to learn from my son; before he met you, he was known for his excellent interpersonal skills."
"Most of them are female friends, right?" Lin Yan asked with a smile.
"What's wrong? Are you jealous?" Guosheng chuckled again. This girl in front of him was so simple, it made one feel a pang of sympathy.
"No, why would I be jealous..."
"Step aside!" A security guard rushed in, and it was no exaggeration to say he flew in. The guard soared several meters before crashing to the ground and sliding another half meter, clearly indicating the force behind the attack.
Two police officers entered with Guo Luxing. The female officer glanced at the security guard lying on the ground and whispered to her male partner, "It's fine; it won't be a big issue."
Guo Luxing turned to another security guard and commanded, "Take him away, close the door, and get lost!"
After seeking Guosheng's approval with a glance, the security guard carried his friend out.
"You've made me spend quite a bit of unnecessary money again," Guosheng mocked.
"Oh? Are you really that short on cash?" Guo Luxing shot back immediately.
The tension between the two was palpable.
"Gentlemen, may I have a word?" Chen Rui interjected, feeling helpless about this father-son duo.
